As you can see, with every skyscraper it just keeps getting taller and bigger...Whirlpool is 3 times taller than Pináculum!
But in the future maybe size is not the answer, let's see what happens...
I only really view Minecraft as a medieval setting and hate modern constructions in it. But this is pretty damn cool. Nice work.
Thanks! (And sorry for answering this late)
Now, as always, Munduno is not dead at all. Everything stopped for a while, but now I'm back to business, hard.
Munduno is now officially 2 years old...time passes fast!
Let's start with a "little" update. Remember the secret acess to a cave in my house? It's now improved. You don't need to break the wall anymore, by just pulling this lever:
The blocks move away. Use the lever again and the wall shuts again.
Of course, being a newie with redstone, I had to use a tutorial for this.
It's funny how in order to move 2 blocks with a lever, you need to make this mess:
But hey! I managed to make it work. Since I had to adapt the design for my house, it didn't work the first time. It actually worked at the 16th time or so...
But now, let's move to bigger things.
Marina.
First of all, Whirlpool is in hold, since my friend wasn't able to join this last weeks and since is his building, I want him to tell how some details are supposed to be. So in the meantime I worked in the surroundings, adding floors and walls, but mostly, I finally started the stadium!
Not an empty place anymore:
Only half the stadium is done, since I don't have a real design made, I'm improvising most of the thing.
My friend told me that the area could be small for the stadium, and he was right, I had to make things smaller, but I think it's better this way, a bigger stadium would look weird in comparation with the other builds, which are not that massive.
Also, note that the surroundings are still not finished, some floor and walls needs to be added.
View from outside. Don't think that's all. It's missing a second floor which will be a shopping mart! With glass walls and roof, making a "bubble". Part of the floor will be glass as well, in order to see the field underneath. (And letting sun light come in as well)
Main entrance:
Main hall:
Access to "cyan" seats, and also, VIP seats.
A hallway.
Access to "blue" seats, from the hallway.
View from the lower part of the blue seats.
View from the upper part of the blue seats.
Access both for the "silver" seats, and access to the field.
The roof. And at the same time, the floor for the shopping mart. This part will be made out of steel, and the glass is reserved for the middle part, of course.
As you can see, there's still a lot to do. Finishing the other half, with the green seats, adding the grass to the field, adding the lights, the shopping mart with its glass dome, and a annex building as an entrance for the mart.
I hope it doesn't look very boring, but I wanted to keep using the same scheme for all the elements in Marina, including the colors.
Also, I'll think how to use some of the new objects from the last versions, I'm thinking about flower pots in my house, maybe...meanwhile, some of the new blocks (like the anvil) are now in the museum.
And about a new download link for the world and the texture pack...well, I hope I can give you the links soon, I want to complete Marina at least first.
Top view. The shopping mall is being finished, Just the roof for the stadium part and part of floors and interior walls are missing.
View from insde the mall. Well, the access building is missing too. I'll make it when the rest is finished.
View from the field. I had to add those lights since glowstone is only effective when is VERY close to the ground. That's why I'm having lots of problems with dark areas.
The seats. As I said, even with that glowstone in the roof, it's all dark...I'll have to think for a solution.
And some changes made to the entrance area:
Next update will contain all Marina finished. Including Whirlpool!
Forget about the last thing I said. While we finish Marina, we started a project I wanted to start a looong time ago.
You might remember this dull area in the world:
Between Pinaculum and X-Cross. It contained nothing but PMA and a little path. And with time, this was starting to look...wrong.
So the biggest land transformation ever began!
PMA is gone, but not forgotten...
And now, for the new stuff. Right next to X-Cross, we decided to make an old project I made in SketchUp, some years ago, and I promise the design ins't based on this:
It's called Curv.
Of course, we adapted the design, so it now fits very well.
It's almost finished, and it looks like this:
I had to make the fanciest stairs ever in order to make the building useful:
As for the part where PMA once stood, I already know what to do. The skyline will look impresive, you can trust me!
I also changed 2 more textures. Wool looks more smooth now, and glass looks better I think.
The glass you have currently for Curv is the way to go. It got a little crazy to look at all the frosted glass before. I really like Curv, by the way
Thanks!
I definitely prefer the looks of the glass now, because of that very reason, so now almost half of the textures have been changed! It's crazy.
Curv was a challenge because of the stairs mostly, but the hardest part of the project is still on the air.
EVERYTHING inside the red area is going to change. Some bits will just be retouched, but in the now empty area, new buildings will be made. I can't wait to finally see everything complete!
17 new houses, every one of them in a different color. They just contain 2 beds, but you don't really need more than that...
This part here has been updated too:
From here you can now access both the upper and lower apartments and also my house.
Lower apartments.
The upper ones.
And if you're wondering how did I get 17 wool colors when just 16 are available, well...I had to change another texture. The salmonesque colored house is in fact made out of giant mushroom, but since I don't use them, I made it look (one of the 4 textures) like a new color for wool.
Finally, the new path to my house:
And my house. Much better now I think.
Next step, the buildings for the empty area between the new houses and Curv!
If "OMNOMNOM" was a way to describe this, I would use it. But that's only to describe the chicken I'm eating while I type this. But I really love those houses. And hey, is the texture pack link updated? I'd love to fool around with it.
First of all, a new texture. I used another giant mushroom texture (2/4 used right now) in order to create a black iron texture. Download link updated in the first page, of course.
And now, almost the final piece in the last project...the Cubes building.
This is how the area looked months ago, with PMA in the back:
...this is how it looks now.
The building is a pure exercise in design. As always, I had no designs made, almost everything was improsived, and I'm quite pleased with the result! Also, as you can see, I used the new black iron texture along with the classic iron for this one.
Main entrance. Signs and path to the doors still pending.
Behind the main doors:
There are two reception desks. This is one of them:
One set of stairs going to an upper level.
One of the rooms. Two levels. The upper one is made out of glass, and as you can see, the black cubes have light wood floors, and the silver ones, darker wood, so between cubes of different color this "gradient" is applied.
The upper floor. I love the glass walls arround the building, they were supposed to be completely flat, but as I was filling one of them, the last gap made me think. So I tried adding a glass panel instead. Now the walls look like a classic house facade, with the glass blocks being the concrete/brick surface and the panels, the windows, and again, this effect was not intended!
This stairs right here go through 3 floors.
2nd floor, which contains a large room, still without the upper floor.
Behind the stairs, there is a balcony, a feature only available in Pinaculum until now. (Well, we added one to Curv too. I'll show you that later in this post)
3rd floor.
In order to access other rooms in the first floor, you have to go outside, by using this doors.
The largest room in the first floor.
A fancy water feature on the outside.
The good thing is, when you look at the skyline from the ground, Cubes and Blocolor (Final name for the colorful apartments, again, made by joining 2 spanish words, Bloque and Color, which I think I don't need to translate) make a one big composite.
And talking about Blocolor, we managed to give the access to the new cave system a 2nd life. It still goes to the caves, of course, but you can access the houses from it as well. The only thing missing are the stairs which connected the access to PMA, which of course were now useless.
From the inside (If only I could make a steel texture for the signs...but without losing the wood one. In other words, I would love to see 2 types of signs, wood ones doesn't fit here)
Oh, if you're wondering where the emergency exit for the old caves system is now...well, here it is.
As I promised, here is the balcony at Curv:
The one thing you see when you are about to go outside
But before putting an end to this update, I want to add a last comparation shot...
Munduno, December 2011:
Munduno, December 2012:
I'm just amazed to see how everything has changed in a year! Well, since the world is 2 years old, it's normal, but every time I see the old pic, i feel goosebumps!
So, I decided to make a big overhaul of the first post when this last project and the stadium are done, we still have to finish some things (the maze, Skyrise's remaining floors) but with this, the vision of how I imagined the world a long time ago will be very close to an end, so I think it's worth doing it. With a new render and everything, of course!
I also want to finish this in order to give you guys a download link, the last version I posted is now too outdated, and it's a shame...
Well, that's all by now. I hope you like the new building!
Wow man! This is aaaaamazing! I really love it! keep working on it.
If you're not in college yet, you should consider being an architect!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate that
I have to say that I would not be a very architect in real life, though. Almost all my creations may be very eye-cathing, but they would be useless in real life, X-Cross for example is just a very tall X with some stairs inside, nothing could be fitted in more than 80% of the floors
But in fact, it's great. in real life design is very limited due to funcionality, here, is just freedom, so the buildings have a point after all!
First, the texture pack has been updated yet again...it's funny how I wanted to keep all the original textures, and now about half of them are different! But it's neccesary, so...
Minor changes this time. Well, sort of. The sponge is now white concrete (A whited-out version of stone) which I think it will be useful in the future. Also, all types of wood look cleaner now, since I removed the darker colored pixels in their textures. So the link is updated as well.
But the big news is, the PMA project is finished! The last piece of the puzzle is now done. A réplica of a real building, but with a twist, as always.
This is Madrid's "La Pagoda", made between 1965 and 1970, a very original building which was shamely demolished in 1999.
That's why I wanted to pay a tribute to the building, making a replica in the last empty bit of the project. I wasn't sure of what material I should use (that's why originally I thought about doing the white concrete texture) but my friend gave me an idea...wood.
So, after many trial and error (I'll post a pic of the very beggining in the end of the reply) we made it. And here it is.
As you can see, we gave the building our personal touch, and I think it looks fantastic, specially because of the use of wood, in a sea of iron and wool.
Main entrance:
And stairs:
2nd floor:
View from the 3rd floor:
And the 4th floor:
And finally, as I promised, one early development pic:
Not only the materials were horrible, as you can see, I forgot to turn the 2nd floor 45º to one side
This is what happens when you build without any plans, you can make mistakes every single second...at least, with time, everything comes together.
Finally, I'll add some new renders tomorrow, since even the one I added in the first reply is obsolete because of Pagoda now in the skyline.
Hi there! Whoa, it has been a long time...more than four months, incredible.
But the motto is still true, Munduno is never dead! Well...to be honest this last months it has been, sort of. But I'm right on business!
Just a few things done this days, the underground maze keeps growing, and the entrance to the second floor of the stadium is done.
But wait! There's more.
Since I made you wait so long, you can now download the world up to date, and also, with the texture pack updated to the new texture system, up to 1.5.1 version!
I'm playing BioShock (yeah, better late than never) and I got inspired. No, I'm not making Rapture, that has been done already! It's something a lot less ambitious.
Turning that entrance into something more...eye-catching.
Also, don't worry, that glowstone in the middle is gone, it looked terrible.
And what about the inside? Down into the caves...well, I tried to do something classy. No more stone, no more iron. Maybe a little glass But mainly, a new material...quartz.
Looks like a room! But it's part of the caves, really...so I'm happy with this. At least, it's different. Like the wool caves
More soon! Next time, I'll try to post a big update. I want to finish things for once and all...
Just for the record, the sizes of all 4 skyscrapers in Munduno (without the beacons):
Pináculum:
58 blocks high
Width and Length: 36 x 36 blocks
Floor area (square meters, including stairs and elevator shaft): 1296 m2
X-Cross:
86 blocks high
Width and Length: 32 x 32 blocks (top/bottom, combining all 4 towers and the space between them) 12 x 12 blocks (middle part)
SkyRise:
125 blocks high (148 with lightning rod)
Width and Length: 25 x 12 blocks (14th floor) 58 x 31 blocks (1st floor)
Whirlpool:
180 blocks high (highest point) 155 blocks high (last floor)
Floor Radius: 21 blocks
Floor Diameter: 42 blocks
Floor Circumference: ~131 blocks
Floor Area: ~1384 blocks
As you can see, with every skyscraper it just keeps getting taller and bigger...Whirlpool is 3 times taller than Pináculum!
But in the future maybe size is not the answer, let's see what happens...
Thanks! (And sorry for answering this late)
