I really do like the metal for nether bricks. Although I haven't decided which iron block I like better. I really like the new textures you've added, though.
The negative part of the textures is, of course, if i go to the Nether, everything is going to look...well. Weird. And if i find pumpkins in new areas in the overworld, i will find...red lights randomly placed on the ground.
Nevertheless, I think it's still worth it...also, i'll try to upload the new links tomorrow, i want to check if everything is fine first. The good thing is, somehow the world now is less heavy, like 10 Mb lighter. I think it's because of the biome shredding (I can't think of any other reason) so i just killed two birds with one stone.
I hope to add more buildings to the skyline really soon...
Also, i didn't forget about the video tour. But it's not only hard to make, by now, the video i was planning to post would be completely obsolete, so i'm not sure of what to do. That's one of the reasons i released the map, so everybody can just look at everything.
Also, in this latest download link for the world, the first 6 floors of Skyrise are done! (7 including the 1st floor, the Bedrock floor)
Some pictures:
14th floor. Air floor:
The smallest one, but at the same time, the one with the best views! Named air for that reason.
13th floor. Dirt floor:
Used normal dirt and Soul Sand for this one.
12th floor. Sand floor:
Every single type of Sand Stone was used, along with normal sand, of course.
12th floor. Wood floor:
As you may expect by now, all types of planks and wood were used.
11th floor. Plant Floor:
Leaves, melons, cacti, flowers...as many vegetable life as possible.
This originally was called Ice Floor, but guess what happened. The lights melted the ice, so the theme was changed.
Also, the floor itself is a pun. In Spanish, it's called Planta Planta, since the same word is used for Plant, and Floor.
10th floor. Color floor:
This originally was the gravel floor, but we thought it was stupid to make a whole floor out of just one material, and being gravel made things worse, so again, the theme was changed.
I'll understand if you say i'm using the rainbow pattern too much in the world, but it's hard to resist... (I used it here, in the Multi-Color caves, the South Metro Station and the back of Skyrise)
From the outside, it looks like this:
And that's all.
Finally, the new links, which are of course in the first post as well, along with a little description about them.
a shame that i didn't find your thread earlier. Your work is fantastic! I love the design and the architecture, and the fact that it looks awesome even with a more or less default texture pack.
Very creative and with a heart of detail. Inspiring!
Any plans to get your city populated?
Thanks!
Well, i thought about that a while ago, but just the housing complex is suitable for that, i think.
Besides that and my own house, everything is just decorative. Well, apart from the metro network, but it doesn't count, of course.
EDIT: I just added a small dictionary in the log for the map download, since all signs are in Spanish.
Also, by reading your comment (and then checking mines) i just realised i got the number wrong, actually, the top 6 first floors are done, without including the 1st floor (Bedrock one)
That means half the floors are done! Better than i expected, But the diamond and gold floors are going to be a challenge...so it will be great!
Big update! (Which means the world i gave for download is already obsolete, lol)
All this area has been remodelled. Including the Museum...literally.
I just demolished the old museum, and made a new one! Bigger and better.
As you can see, the entire fachade is new, also, everything including the stairs have been moved a few blocks away, in order to have even more room outside.
First, let's remind how the old museum looked like:
And now...
The new Block Museum!
I felt the old museum was too...old, and too boring. Now i think it's a better place to visit! Also, finally new blocks are in.
Just a funny note, i tried to add the Pumpkin...well, the red beacon, but guess what happened. Yup. A Iron Golem was made, so i had to kill him (poor thing), rebuild that part and add another thing instead...
Not much to tell right now, apart from one thing...after playing Portal 2 (well, not literally, i finished it months ago), i got inspired by the abandoned look, with the nature taking things back, so I'm doing a post-apocaliptic version of Munduno, called Mundunover!
Some pictures of the work so far (Before and after pics)
Atrium of the Pináculum, inside.
Atrium of the Pináculum, outside.
Pináculum Plaza:
My house.
Alpha caves, hall.
Pináculum complex, annex buildings and bridge.
Marina.
Marina. Stairs from the tunnel.
Marina's Metro station.
Marina. Munduno 1st anniversary monument.
Marina. Lamp Post.
As you can see, a modified texture pack was made in order to make it look right. I think more than the 80% of the abandoned effect is done by the textures alone, so it was worth it. Iron is rusted, wool have mold, glass is shattered, stone looks tired...
Also, of course, there are trees everywhere. And grass. And vines. I'm trying to use vines well, filling everything with them doesn't looks good at all...
Apart from all this, lots of glass is missing (Just a few blocks remaining), some structures collapsed (Like the bridge in the Pináculum Complex) and bits of fences, iron...are missing as well. The metro stations are flooded.
Oh, of course all torches and glowstone blocks are gone. So the world now remains in complete darkness.
The problem will be SkyRise and X-Cross. They're giant compared to Pináculum, and I'm not sure of how to make them look abandoned...anyway, with time, if anyone is interested in Mundunover, i can provide download links, of course!
As you can see, Marina is being expanded. A lot. Now, it will be connected to the future stadium, so everything will be perfectly connected. The swimming pool i made months ago should be arround here as well, but i'm trying to figure out where to put it exactly.
Also, the "old" part of Marina will change as well. New and more lamp posts, and maybe some trees, in order to avoid empty areas.
Erm... You should really work on redstone. The builds are already cool, but gadgets like elevators and huge working digital clocks are fun to make and cool to look at :).
I thought about doing things like that, but i can't find anything suitable for the world...the elevators, for example. Not enough space and/or they don't work as i would want.
PS: Marina now looks like this, but there are still tons of things to do here:
Very nice futuristic building I would like to see you use more materials +Rep from me.
That's what I'm trying now, but it's hard...my main materials are of course iron and glass (and in 3rd place, wool), but for the Pináculum complex i also use gold and diamond, for the caves i use stone, for Marina Lapislazuli, in the housing project bricks and wood, and in SkyRise's floors, everything.
For me, most of the modern look of the world is made by the iron and the glass, that's what skyscrapers are made of, and that's why mine's use that materials...but please don't get me wrong, i respect your point and as i said, i want to combine more materials, at least, as a personal challenge, let's see what happens...and thanks for the rep!
In other news, updates!
The 3rd update to Pináculum Complex, almost everything in the outside has been changed:
Yes, gold and diamond arround the fountain. And iron literally arround the fountain as well.
New entrance to the Pináculum building, now featuring 4 doors (For simmetry's sake)
On the inside...an information kiosk!
The stairs to the museum are now wider:
And the stairs to the lower part are now symmetrical as well.
And the biggest change, here:
This part was a complete no-sense. I've always hated it. And now, i'm finally happy with it! (Also in this pic you can see the now old stairs to the lower part, the old entrance to the Pináculum building, the fountain without the iron surrounding it, and with a good eye the old stairs to the museum)
And another change i almost forgot:
The floor here/cave's roof is now all glass up to the border. And don't worry, i added the missing glass after i made the pic! Also, you can see how it was before in the previous pic.
I know i'm making hunreds of changes to what was already there, but i'm trying to make sense to everything i do. Most of the changes are fixes for very old design mistakes, like the stairs to the museum for example, which should have been like that since the beginning, but of course, by the time i made them, there was no museum. Just nothing, so now they look great with the sorroundings. Maybe i'm overkilling some details, but that's why i'm always opened to suggestions and comments about everything!
Also, i'll provide a new download link for Munduno when i finish the new part of Marina, but what i can provide now is the updated texturepack for 1.3.1, which is already in the first post.
Now, a little update...apart from minor touches (the road to the house in the empty island is wider now, for example) 2 major things have been done...
Marina before:
Marina now:
In that huge empty space, the 4th skyscraper will be bulit. The goal is to make another huge complex, with the docks, the new skycraper, and the future stadium and swimming pool. This time, my friend will design the building, but i'll be there giving ideas, of course.
And don't worry, when the building is finished, we will improve the sourroundings, it looks kind of bad right now.
Also, as you can see, the 1st anniversary monument has been moved, and the entrance to Marina is new, since we had to demolish the old path to X-Cross, i remade that entrance here, as the main one:
But there's more, of course.
This mountain in the south, next to Black & White and the housing project:
Will feature something in the near future...
Hint: HOLLYWOOD (But with other name, of course)
Talking about Black & White! I just realized i used grey wool, not white wool. So it was actually Black & Grey. We fixed that:
Also, the lights pattern is new as well.
And more!
Something happened to SkyRise's stairs...
This:
From the outside:
Now they have windows. And new lights. And the most important thing:
Yup. An elevator shaft. As you know, i wanted to maintain Munduno mod-free, but taking the stairs every time was a pain. So we will add an elevator mod in order to accomplish that.
But obviously, we have more than one skyscraper....
Yes, Pinaculum is getting an elevator too! What about X-Cross? We are still studying that.
And finally, furniture in SkyRise's rooms!
And for the last, one thing i didn't considered in the first place...
Do you remember this empty bit at Pináculum Complex?
I wondered for a long time what i should put there. And then, my friend just got it.
Put the entrance to the subway station there!
And now, inside the building, this, instead of the entrance:
The next update should be about the new skyscraper and the mountain "thing" project. And of course, we don't forget about the maze in the island, that's on hold for now.
Don't worry, it's just the beggining. The facade is just glass by now (i promise, the amount of iron in this one will be very low!) and no floors are in as well, but you get the idea. The facade will look very different! (Well, at least in one side...)
Since is a cylinder with a twisted end, i thought about calling it Twisder, but since this is my friend's project, we still have to talk it out.
And finally, the first part of the maze is being done!
In the beggining it was a useless building very far from the rest of things. Now it just plain useless!
The pool is finally where it belongs:
And finally...welcome to the Whirlpool Tower:
Even taller than SkyRise, this is i think the best building i ever worked at. My friend designed the exterior and the floor in the hall. I designed the rest of the interior.
5 materials for this one. Iron and glass, as usual, yes, but also Lapis Lazuli, since this is in Marina. Emerald. New materials, finally! And diamond, since it goes well with all the other colors.
And yes, i modified two textures. The Lapis Lazuli is sightly different now and the emerald now shares main texture with diamond and gold.
One of the two doors. Yes. That grass will soon no longer be there.
2 stories tall main hall. In the center, stairs and elevator shaft. In a corner, stair to hall's 2nd floor.
