I'm starting 2012 by continuing a failed project...a house inside an island.
It was one of my very first projects, it was began even before starting National Park, and it involved emptying the inside of an island, only leaving the exterior grass, but it ended up like this:
As you can see, that was a veeeery long time ago...
But today i started the real deal!
You can see the old wooden and cobblestone placements, which are going to disappear soon.
Also, about the video tour...the 3rd time i tried to do it, the program crashed again. Agh.
I'll try a last one time, this is getting annoying.
A little update, while i plan how to continue the island project, i'm making a new skyscraper:
123 blocks tall, even bigger than X-Cross! But it's barely started, still a long way to go.
Every floor will be thematic. For exaple, the 7th floor is called the Lava Floor, so obviosly, i'll make a lava decoration, with lava waterfalls, a lava floor (with glass on top, of course) but first, i have to finish the building itself, which is not being as fast as i first thought.
Also, i'm making it in a flat world, since i'm not sure where to put it in my main world. But eventually, it will join the rest of the buildings.
Edit:
Another pic, of the stairs:
The Lapis Lazuli blocks are meant to be a blue carpet. Still better than just wool, i think.
OMG!!! I love all of these buildings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could build as good as you... and if I download the world, would you mind me putting it into my server and letting my friends and I work on it? I'd try to send you pics of progress. and did I mention I LOVE THE X BUILDING
EDIT: X Cross, not X-Building. My bad XD
For the island, i have a very ambitious project. It starts in the empty basement under the Pinaculum. A stair will go all the way down (I already have a design for it) and a tunnel will connect the basement with the island, under the sea.
Then, instead of making another set of stairs to the island's surface, i'll make a maze. 4 floors big! And the final touch, and exit will be a hole in the ground of a house 2 floors high that i'll make in the surface, using a modern design, as always.
But as i said, first of all, i have to finish emptying the island. Which is near finished:
I left the original stairs just for having a reference of how much island has been emptied, but they'll go away as well.
Bad news for me...since i updated to 1.1 for some reason, now my world's biomes are a complete mess. Now a big part of it is a taiga, so the oceans and fountains keeps freezing and everything is covered in snow...i think it's time to cut my world away and start a new one.
Another little update, i made a path connecting the last bit of the world, and it looks like this:
And now, it's time to fix the biome problem, and start making big progress both in the new skyscraper and the island project. So expect more and better next time!
Skyrise (final name for my new building) is finally placed on its new home in my main world, next to X-Cross.
You might remember X-Cross was high, right?
Well, compare both buildings now:
85 blocks tall vs 123. Just 38 blocks more make the Skyrise looks giant! The Pinaculum is now a toy, compared to this monsters...
Now, about the progress on it. The 4 first floors and the last 2 (out of 14) are finished on the outside...i'm thinking about adding more iron in the fachade, since i think it's way too much glass on the sides.
Also, with the glass in place, you can now have an idea of how it will look when it's finished.
The entrance is connected to the path which goes from X-Cross to National Park.
The main lobby. Since it's the biggest floor, i'm thinking about building two stairs connecting the lobby with the next floor, instead of using the main stairs (which will be used as a "optional" path just for this two floors. Also, as i did with X-Cross, i'll make a parking, using the stairs, which will keep going underground, and where there is now a cave)
At night. I had to transform this section of the path since it was in the middle of the building site. A new element i'm using is the glass panel, which looks stunning when a light source is placed underneath it!)
Right now there's not a single light in the building. Just a few on every floor, which will be placed in the same place, and in the stairs. The lighting will be based on which theme the floor is based in.
That's why it looks this sad compared to the X-Cross. But this will change soon!
One "finished" floor, awaiting the thematic decoration. This emptiness will disappear soon too!
And just one day later...it's finished! But just in the outside, of course. The parking is next, and the thematic decoration will be the last thing to do.
An night, much better!
The skyline. As i said yesterday, the Pinaculum now looks small.
This map looks amazing. I just wish the download would work.
Anyway, this is an amazing build, and it shows that the possibilities in MC are endless. Moreover, this seems to be one of the best builds in MC. But one question - is the texture pack your own or is it available for download (Cuz it looks awesome!)?
I didn't forgot about this, of course. But now, since Minecraft finally supports native 256 blocks tall worlds, i had to make some tweaks to my world. The biomes are kind of fixed, the grass is maybe too colorful since the biomes are too small, but at least. It doesn't snow anymore where it shouln't. Actually, it doesn't snow anymore in my world, but it's fine to me, i left the snow where it was supposed to be, and i got rid of the rest.
I have news and updates, of course.
First, apart from fixing my world, i finished the lobby. Which theme is...bedrock.
This is what i mean with the grass. Not a big deal, but looks weird.
Then, i started a new world, in order to make a building, a real one this time...i've chosen Madrid's Torre Caja Madrid, which is the tallest tower right now in the city (250 meters tall)
I'm making it at full scale. So as you can imagine, is big. VERY big.
And finally, but not less important, i reuploaded my world, and this time, zero mods requiered! Just download it and play it. Always remind my world is a constant WIP, so many things can be unfinished, like the caves system.

Thank you very much! Well, to you and to all who liked this. It's great to hear words like that.
Also, yes, i use my own texture pack. I changed the following things:
Glowstone - Electric light
Torches - LED posts
Iron - Classic look
Iron door - Glass door (With iron border)
Soulsand - Soulsand without faces on it
Pumpkins - Normal pumpkin. (Without the face already cutted)
Not a big list of changes, i just modified them to my own tastes.
The name, Pinaculum Complex, is quite interesting. A cookie for creativity! XD
Always willing to help. Message me.
BTW, i'm trying to get the video tour done (all footage is already filmed!), but the file got corrupted twice...i hope for a third time lucky.

Go ahead, it would be interesting to see a different perspective in my world's progress :smile.gif:

Just tinypic being silly, it happens sometimes. Fixing it...

I hope you enjoy it!
In the meantime, i've been thinking about how to decorate Skyrise's floors...i'll update the map download link as i complete the floors.
In fact, i just updated it. Some minor changes and improvements, nothing really important, but i want to keep it to day.
Of course, the download link has been updated as well.
