Sillouette, you should work on a fleet sometime, that would be interesting!
I'll build a Napoleonic era fleet eventually, just not my main priority as of now. I want to get some work done on my fantasy build and in between that build some more 17-18th century ships.
Nice ships, I've also made an ironclad similar to yours.
Nice! My ironclad is probably one of the worst ships I built. It is awfully off scale, too big, and just igly, not too mention the masts are too short since I did it back when the height limit was 128
Impressive work! It was always going to look more subdued than some of your more stylised builds, but I think that's one of the signs that you've done it really well.
I'm really going to have to try some of this larger scale stuff sometime! It looks a lot better than the Steve-scale 2nd rate I've been working on...

Thanks! Try a slightly larger scale. You get a bit more room to do things a bit more accurate and in my opinion, more satisfying.
Making a third rate at the moment. I think after this I'll make a 6th rate frigate.
It may or may not be a good idea to make the center of the hull flatter, having that line of blocks on the middle of the upper gun deck looks a bit odd and harder to hide then on a larger ship.

Discipline, Pride, and Courage. A dangerous combination.

I think that the line you are talking about is the markings for the decks. None of them are done at the moment, so what you see from top is just am empty hull with markings.

I think the blocks that I am talking about are just above that, but oh well. Minor problem. You've been building ships longer than I.

I get it now I think. If you mean lowering the upper deck a bit so the sailors have a bit of walls to hide, yes I usually do that after I lay out the decks. On the design process I always lay out the upper gun deck the last, because it gives me a bit of room to play with the lower decks and the shape of the hull itself. Here's how it may look at the end.
I updated the my third rate . Stern and bow are done. Lowered it a bit into the water as I felt it was too high and was starting to look like a second rate. The color scheme might get updated later. Again, I will probably make different versions with different colors. I still have to make the yards, sails and rigging. When done, it will carry 74 guns. Any suggestions, please feel free to throw them in.
Now that I look at it, I am thinking at making the aft castle a bit taller.
How do you get the fancy screenshot?! D: I want one for one of my ships!

This one turned out alright, could've been better.

This thread is officially one year old!
Now, we wait for the huge celebration ship.
I baked you a shipcake. Go on, blow the candle out!
That went well.

Oh you mean the painting of the hull?
