Yes SPC have WorldEdit on it, which is some sort of terrain editor in game. Didn't know about it till the other day either. Anyway, another option would be building it directly in the water. Maybe you can surround and area and take out all the water. Or building it on land and move the sea. :biggrin.gif: It would be awesome to do it legit.
You have any idea of the number of blocks you use to build a big ship?

According to SPC, I used about 11 thousand blocks (probably less than that). But I'm guessing that for a decent size ship you could use around 5-7 thousand maybe?

Wow, I better start saving up some blocks to build one then.
Rocking ship designs dude, especially the warship. Just a weird quick question, how large is it? ^^;
As for a pirate cove, you'd probably need to build smaller sleeker ships, as that is what Pirates predominately used, and I'd suggest finding a naturally occurring cove to start building in, like the one in you warship picture, but larger, then go from there.

Yup smaller ships are on my to do list. The next ship I'm planning to make would be something like a Xebec or something :smile.gif:

A Xebec would work, although for pirates, they'd not necessarily have the nicest ship. As much as it hurts me to suggest it, I'd say make it perfect then... damage it a bit ^^; haha... and... um... you forgot my question xD How big is the Warship? Just out of curiosity?

Oh sorry! Ok so tall, from the lowest point to the highest mast it is about 68 blocks high, when you submerged it in water it should get lowered about 5-9 blocks I think, so it won't reach height limit. In lenght, from the rear spanker to the very tip of the ship it is about 92 blocks long. And finally it is about 25 blocks wide ( a bit wide).

Hmmm, ok thx! I look forward to your next couple ships!
I really love your ships, and when I finally get round to building some of my own, I'll be very pleased indeed if any I build look a tenth as good as yours. I've just got one question though, roughly what are the dimesions of your different classes of ships, I'm mainly interested in length and widths. :smile.gif:
I wanna know so I've got a guide on how much space to allow when building docks or any large locks out at sea.
Hi there and thank you for your comments. You'll see that ship building is tedious, but once you get the hang of it, you'll get very good and will have fun!
For the dimensions of my ship I often look at pictures on google of real ships and assimilate the dimensions of those ships, to the size of a minecraft block. For my bigger ships, said the Galleon and Warship, they are around 80-90 blocks long, from the very back to the very front. Width they are about 60-70 blocks wide (this could vary depending on how wide you want your ship). Tall i usually make them 58-64 blocks tall to the tallest mast. The smaller ships vary, since there are a lot of different styles. My Xebec is about 72 blocks long, 15 wide, and about 50-55 tall. The cool thing about this is that once you have a ship built, you can assimilate the size of that ship to the other one you are about to build and estimate the measures. I hope this helped and good luck building ships. When you do please show me. :smile.gif:
Thanks for the quick reply, it might be tedious but you've still got some epic ships!
Are you sure you mean 60-70 wide? that seems far bigger than your warships look in the screenshots. But thanks for the info, if I'm to build ships more realistic in size I might have to readress some of my big sea-gates. The Xebec would just about squeeze through but they'd have to lose a lot of sail!
I did build one ship, but it was god awful, I'd probably need to double its size at least.
Also, one last question, what mods/programs do you use that allow you to move/copy the ships once you've built them. Personallly id be really interested in have multiples of the same type of ship in my world, or have the same ship seems as if it was actually travelling from A-to-B, i could use the same method with my zeppelins too ya see. :smile.gif:
Oh sorry what the heck was I thinking, I mean 15 to 25 blocks wide, 25 being the wider(Warship) :laugh.gif:
And don't worry if your first ship is awful, look at my first ships, and there's a third one that I won't even show because God, it is nasty. But practicing makes you better. A lot of hours onto the ship too :tongue.gif:
The way I build my ships is I make the outline of the body, anyway I want it. Like this:
After I do that, I proceed to build one side of the ship, and then with MCEdit, I mirror that side and copy it into the other. That's pretty much all I use to make the ship symmetric besides it being on Creative Mode.
Lol, imagine if it was 70 wide, it'd be a floating city! Now there's an idea!
Ta for the info, that does seem like a good way to do things, I guess I'll have to have a looksee at MCEdit, so far all I use is too many items, and when I built my ship, I started at the back and just built forward, which wasn't ideal.
I'd definately like to get into building ships at some point, it just seems like it can breathe new life into a world. I've built a few dozen ships tbh, but apart from one they've all been tiny river rafts and canal barges (5 by 15) theres not much room to play around at that size, although I think they're pretty convincing, but I didn't even bother with sails! :biggrin.gif:
What're your next plans in terms of building ships?
A few months ago I was still building dirt huts and living in caves. Then I started making a city and started making better houses. That's when I got the idea of building a ship, but seen that there were so many amazing ships out there, I was amazed and skeptic that I could ever build one like those. Then I grew the guts to try and so far I've built 7 ships. Something that I thought I could never do, now I love it!
I'm planning to make a few more smaller ships which wont be that impressive hence they are small. But small to complete a fleet. Then build a few more and I'm even planning to recreate the Black Pearl. Tough but I believe I can do it. Also I would love to make a pirate cove at some point. :smile.gif:

Old World Screetshots - Industrial Park - Legit, Survival World

Thanks mate! I used to build a lot of land structures too, in fact, I'm making a town, but then Ii got interested in ships :tongue.gif:
Thank you! But trust me, I've seen better ships than mine. More cleaner and more realistic looking. I wanna get there someday!
Thanks! But no, it's not the best you can make, I've seen better. I'm still learning :smile.gif:
Meh, can't believe I've been missing that all along! Thanks for pointing that out, I fix them.
Thanks :smile.gif:
Updated OP with new Warship. Please leave feedback and tell me what you think. All your suggestions and comments will be taken in consideration.
