I think this will be a twin city. Heatherfell and Amberrock. I don't know what to build next though. I think of having the central areas majestetic, and the outer areas more villagey. Maybe I'll add more plants.

Medieval builder and texture artists. Also totally awesome.
The spaces under the houses can be shops. And there has to be a bridge somewhere. The town centre can be a palace with a dome or something.
That would make sense, with the shops being close to the canal and all. But if it was me I'd build the gardens around the bridge. It would add a definite barrier between the houses and your palace, getting less grand the closer to the standard houses it gets.

I'm thinking about a tiered city with the palace in the middle, and around it the upper class houses, quality shops and parks and such. And around it a circular wall (With a hole for the canal) and the rest of the city outside, more primitive houses and probably another wall.
Edit: Now there are 8 houses and 20 shops lots. 8 large, 12 small (the remaining 4 are in ruins)

It's not too dark. Can you make out details like the fences and the kangaroo statue?
The problem is: Where should I put them? How should the canal continue? Does the timber frames make it look too victorian?
Well you must have a town centre or something. If not, just build until the canal reaches a point you can call the middle and start from there
