Croix was quite popular in the bustling city of Providence. He had wealth and friends but didn't like the harsh rule of King Litus. For quite awhile Croix and others talked of one day leaving the city and starting a new colony in far away lands of Harvenagh, which were lightly touched by humans but said to be rich in resources. He would travel on his ship The Blade with 10 workers and 2 farmers.
Croix looked out his window at the large town hall pondering his decision. It was clear to him, he would ask the king for a charter and head for Harvenaugh tomorrow.
Yes! The king approved Croix's wishes. As he informed his 12 other colleagues of the great news they immediately started loading the ship. Stone bricks, cobblestone, wood, paintings, wool, food, and tools were all loaded onto the ship that night. Croix fell asleep with a smile on his face knowing his dreams were finally coming true.
The next few days the crew traveled across the ocean eager to get to Harvenagh. Chatter and laughter was thrown around talking about the adventures they'd have and the buildings they'd create. It'd was decided that an inn would be the first building put up to accommodate for the many workers and farmers, then a manor would be built to house Croix and the town hall.
The words "Land Ho" were shouted down from the look out, everybody turned themselves to see the new land they'd soon be settling on.
The workers jumped into smaller boats and rowed on to shore and immediately started clearing the land of trees and filling in the swampy areas with dirt to make room for the inn.
The next day the workers got to work quickly laying down the base of the inn.
Within a week the workers built at amazing speeds and finished the inn and deemed it the Marymore Inn. As Croix looked at the inn he decided he'd call the city McKelton, unsure why, he just knew that's what he'd call it.
Croix granted the workers a two day break before started on the town hall/manor. Surprisingly to the workers Croix had the plans all worked out, from the material of the floors to the height of the walls, he knew exactly what he wanted.
Given time the workers finished the two wings of the house. A worker aproached Croix, gestured towards the manor and said "Your house, Lord Croix". Lord Croix, he thought to himself, he liked that. He gazed joyfully at the house even in it's early stage and moved in to his temporary bedroom.
After a few more days of work at high levels off the ground, the workers finished the tower of the manor which was to be Croix's quarters, while the downstairs would be the meeting place for the town.
After the completion of the large project the town noticed they were running low on stone, so Croix ordered that a mine be built with a working track to obtain more stone and minerals.
Pleased with the completion of the mine, Croix received more good news that a merchant from a near-by island had come to extend his business in the town of McKelton.
Wow, what a wonderfully delicious story. Good grammar. The only things i think you could improve on are making a fancier boat. I hope to see more of these :biggrin.gif:
To keep the farming couple busy Lord Croix decided to have a farm constructed acrosed the river. With the farmers pitching in the construction took only a measly four days to complete.
As Croix prepared for bed Antonio, the merchant who had moved in, told him that his friend Martin was coming into dock on the shore. Once docked, Martin informed Croix that a trading vessel would come to McKelton if a proper harbor was constructed, Martin said he'd be back in a few weeks to check on their progress.
Although cautious of his short dead-line to build a proper harbor, Croix insisted on a Town Square being built for the members of McKelton to gather and socialize. A large golden obelisk was built in the middle and named "The Old Thirteen" after the original 13 citizens of the town.
Shorty after the Town Square was made, a pub was erected by a man named Patrick from the same town that Antonio and Martin came from.
Unseen by Croix, a house had also been under construction next to the Marymore Inn by a man and his wife, the Stevens. Little did he know that this would be the site of the first neighborhood in McKelton.
You must of thought that Croix had been distracted and forgotten all about the harbor, but Croix had been thinking ahead and assigned some men to start construction, and to Croix's surprise the harbor and trading office has been put together in record time!
After a long week of work Croix was exiting the pub after talking to some workers when he spotted a large boat out at sea coming straight towards the town. Croix thought to himself whose ship this could be, surely it wasn't the boat from Ikesylvania, the hometown of Antonio, Martin, and Patrick. As Croix's eyes adjusted to the dark he saw the orange seal of the Providence Royal Trading Ship. He couldn't believe it! This early and the mightiest trading ship in the Providence empire was coming to his town. Surely the King must of heard of Croix's success!
