Hi! Someone has probably suggested this elsewhere by now, or at least some version of it, but I just thought of this now and wanted to make sure the idea gets recorded where it may do some good for others.

[EDIT] Well, I was right. Someone else posted this idea & with pics a couple days ago, it was buried in the pages of time already though. So I will link here to that thread. This way there will at least be twice as many links to a good thread on the subject. :wink.gif:
* Still do please check out Emily's window shutters at the bottom of this post!
Since we don't yet have furniture items (other than 1 bed) we have been having to fashion our own furniture in Minecraft out of what is available. Each time a new item is added to the game it's fun to think of how/if it could be used to make furniture or other decorations of some sort. Well, pistons are one of the items that, thankfully, can be used this way!
* If normal pistons (in vanilla) are placed facing up, set into the floor and extended, they make nice looking little tables with center poles holding them up! You can place several together to make tables of whatever size/shape you want. The added bonus is being able to flip a lever and have all the tables retract into the floor making the space available for dancing! :wink.gif:
Texture packs can certainly have an effect on how these "tables" look. Even with default they look good, but you could copy the appropriate .png out of the minecraft .jar and edit in your own desired texture for it if you wished.
[I will be adding pictures] [EDIT] Go to link at top of thread for great pictures that were already posted.

** I've recently seen something that impressed me greatly and I want to link to it from here to help as many people as possible to learn of the idea.
emily_2010 has created a thread to showcase Inspirations for Aesthetically pleasing home building in Minecraft. Everything about it is wonderful! The specific aspect of it that I wanted to mention here though is that she thought to use the new Trapdoors as Window shutters! It looks fantastic! Especially with a good texture pack. She uses Misa's Texture pack in her pictures. Check it out! :smile.gif:

Aesthetic use for Pistons
Here is the first image they posted, just to whet your appetite. There are more in their thread though, posted by others too. Good stuff!
