here's a selection of pics of my lodge/manorhouse. (all legit singleplayer, no mods!) going to change to piston tables, and do some landscaping/gardening around it, and add some carpeting on the first floor, but basically done.
and here is a selection, so i don't bog the thread with all those pics :biggrin.gif:
from the front
from a hill on the right side, note the arbor back porch.

bedroom with sign based room dividers. (may switch to stair based ones)
just need a few more paintings around, and some odds and ends to finishing touch the place.
This is some really great stuff, reminds me of some of my stuff. Something else that is interesting if done correctly; using doors as shutters, in the actual window itself. It only really works well if you have a somewhat ambiguous door texture that can seem like a door, or a shutter.
And that hatch idea is brilliant! I'll try to get some pictures up later of some designs, maybe.
how did you make the wooden beams on the back porch of that house? it looks great!
they are signs!
if you place a sign, you can place another on top of it, and it just floats in mid air. so i started at one end, and worked my way across, then did it again and again until the whole thing was filled in. only trouble is, if you break the first one in the row, all of them fall, so you have to be careful remodeling around them. You can hold up water that way also, makes a fancy roof for underwater bases, that you can fall through from above, making it easy to get in.
you can also place signs on the edges of signs, and they sit at a right angle to it, not found a use for that yet, but a friend used it for rotors on her airship.

Testing this now. Will update.
EDIT:
Oh my. This is really cool. Hard, but cool. You have the patience of a saint to do it that many times, haha.

Moving on, here's a tip I felt like adding, I discovered it earlier, and though it looked pretty nice. (Wall corners at each floor!)
Do your corners look too plain? Replace the corners with fences! It adds depth and variety to an otherwise repetitive pattern!
These houses are great, I wish I could build houses like that. I used doors as shutters once, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't too great either. Still, these guides are great none the less. Keep it up!
Great houses! I love the last two the most! Thanks to this my houses no longer look like crap! I thank you greatly and I would give you diamond but I never find any... :dry.gif: Oh well keep building and thanks for the guide!
EDIT: I would post pictures of the 2 story house I made using your guide, but I tried and I failed but oh well. I also like your misa's texture pack, but my computer is slow so I use painterly. Still really good though.
Hey Emily, I've already told you that this guide is amazing, but I saw you posted something about a youtube channel with these houses. I'm upgrading computers soon, so I may be able to record if you're interested. Keep up the good work :biggrin.gif:

It really depends on your texture pack though, default is ugly.

^ The location and the design were excellent!

I took some of your tips + inspiration from one of your homes..
I haven't done the inside.
Edit: i'm changing it a bit, adding a lot around for my animals (yogbox ;3) and greenhouses/etc.
That is an ingenious way of using signs, I'll have to steal the idea for my pergola design. :smile.gif:
