Its actually an okay drawing but the colors are really flat try to use gradients shading and also I would add more lines to make feathers to add more details. Also what program did you use?

Definitely but it isn't as simple as paint.net I would suggest watching tutorials on using gimp on youtube. I recently bought Auto desk Sketchbook and I really like it and it is easy to use and you can do great stuff with it. Plus its only $3 per month! If you have a few bucks I would suggest trying it for a month it has some great features.

That one is okay like the other one. I would recommend downloading a program called paint.net its free and really simple and really good.

not bad for a first timer, you should do more work like these!

Maybe sketch it out roughly first then do the main outline? Then maybe add some shading, lighting, backgrounds, etc.
I use Corel Painter 2015 to make my drawings, easier than photoshop in my opinion.
