Hey guys! This is JDogg2727, and I'm here to talk about Thumbnails. Not only do I love to give others tips, and answer questions, but I love to get feedback, and that's the main reason I'm here.
So to start off the post Here's some of my best. please, if you are inclined to give me some feedback to make them better please do! As I make new ones for new series (or just maybe new thumbnail time) I will post them here
How can I have a bad ass thumbnail? Any recommendations?
It looks like he used in game screenshots and C4D or Maya with a nice rig to create the characters. You could probably do the same in blender for free.

Holy Cow! I didn't see all these replies! And I assume you mean mine is bad ass The best way to do it is take your time, a good one for me can take anywhere from 15 to 30 mins. or longer depending on my ideas Try using a nice gradient instead of flat colors, use interesting eye catching colors, and make it for instead of just glancing at some text the viewers have something fun to look at!

Right you are! The in-game screenshots give the people a sense of what's going on, it took me a while to learn that this is actually a really good technique

And thanks tons!
I really like the in-game screenshots idea. It makes for a nice and simple way to show what is really going on in the video. It can be hard to find a good background that makes sense to your thumbnail and video.

I agree I used to just use a gradient as my backgrounds and after a while I realized they didn't make any sense really
Thanks for asking! I use GIMP as my photo editor, it's similar-ish to photoshop but it's free and it's really easy to learn how to use, and I use mine-imator for my character poses, It's a really cool animating software that's in the works for minecraft and the maker is just about to release a new update with tons of cool stuff!
Here's an update on the Agrarian Skies series thumbnail! Not too much of a change but just thought I'd mix it up For the next one I'm taking ideas for poses, themes, and such, and also feel free too share your techniques! And also one I used for Captive Minecraft!
One of the things that really makes stuff pop is drop shadow! It's really easy to add especially if your using multiple layers!
Some people like to use one font for their thumbnails... I have so many fonts. When I am bored I sorta look up font websites and waste a few dollars here and there. Usually by the time I make a new thumbnail, I have a new favorite font so it is always changing.
