Also reminding people that 7 months ago, most of the Convicted players quit, were gone or was highly inactive. Remaining players (There was not so many left) were pushing in game and in these forums that Convicted needs to shut down and it would be "good for Convicted". Many things were pushing community down. It can happen again. Not so long time ago, "legendary Don't drop the soap" Prison server came back. Ddts community were thrilled about it and expectations were high. Still after few months from opening, community was lacking interest for the genre and soon enough server shut down once again. Most people were saying that they cared to see old friends more than actually playing the game.
I'm sure happy with others that server will launch soon, but I'm not sure what people are expecting from Convicted V2. If peoples motive is just to see "old friends in old server" then this will be like any other game. You play it first for a while, but then it becomes boring and you start another new game. That's why we need refresh ideas because simple "Prison server theme" is not enough anymore. So if anyone have anything in mind what kind of convicted you guys are expecting to play, please tell us because timing would not be better.
Here is few examples, ask yourself: if I would be 100% charge of Convicted V2, would I like to have?

I'd personally want fewer parkours, more ways to get stars but less OP Chaos, EW can stay but it shouldn't be the only way to get DR star, events are good, enchants and potions should definitely stay, drugs should have a bigger role, shop signs are necessary to the economy, the Black Market was helpful for new players but not veterans, Omega should be expanded and tiered, Donor should stay as it was, mines should reset more, PvP will be unbalanced no matter what, but try the balance as much as possible without being invasive, free world is a must, so much history was there, Guards are fine, but no new Alphas for a while. I think we should get back into a place where being an Alpha actually means something. That's my two cents, anyways.

Well for starters, parkour would not be the only way to get stuff. I know that this is a well discussed topic and I'm beating a dead horse by commenting on it, but one more voice to it couldn't cause some of the admins to have an aneurysm could it? However i don't think that the old parkour should just be turned out or whathaveyou (keep my nostalgia going baby/give the new ones a chance to experience history). Rewards should probably be based towards monetary gain rather than exp (which really when you think about it IS the reason that convicted's economy worked about as well as Will Shatner doing covers of songs. Do Quest -> Exp -> Easy pickaxes, swords, etc -> Easy Mines + picks -> Fluff_Nut's (i think, or Rum?) 3 mil in one day achievement.) Right, so all of these "Nostalgia Quests" (all comprised into NQ gg) would give money rather or materials (that's something i've always wanted. Quests that give materials for doing stuff i.e. an uncommon block or ores. That could work), depending on its difficulty. Quests could be more based on PvE or other. Hell, maybe you have to travel in the overworld just to reach something. I don't know. One thing that comes to mind is that Red part of 8PQ, where killing pigment for gold nuggets, WHILE on a time limit of jump boost to do parkour, WHILE needing to do that parkour in order to even get the boost. That was hot. Maybe something in which players are dumped into a room where they need to kill x amount of baddies and dump that crap on a pressure plate to open a door, in a world where stuff disappears after 30 secs (obv. coming from an unexperienced guy, I'm not sure that's even doable.) Or if you have the old prison saved, why not make a quest through it. "Abandoned Ruins Quest". Five guys, get on it now. *Sips coffee*
Here's another thing. Those player parties. That was a brilliant idea that was, unfortunately poorly, executed. Think of Steve Jobs. Macs were a great idea that was poorly executed because i can't get any big name titles like GTA V. Community content never really seemed to be a big thing at all, which is a shame considering the talent of the people we have here. Stare in awe at Galuzer's Epsilon, or that pixel art outside Omega, and you start wonder: why isn't this stuff really used, or not mainstream? (Which would have been a perfect lead in to my comments on our free world, had i been done here). With all these people floating around, why not have some sort of world dedicated to community samples. Yes, samples. Give people a plot of land, let them strut their stuff, a teaser of what they could do so to speak. Open it up every month or two, give people a week to show off a fancy thing. Have a branch of people (veterans, really) who contribute stuff, who play and see something they want done or changed. And to the players, get off your bums and start thinking of stuff.
PVP. I don't know. I honestly never had as much fun doing it as i did 2 years ago as a C, stone sword in hand, stark naked running at the OP kiddies trying to get some stuff. I backed off from it for the most, save for a couple of riots and those days towards the shutdown where'd i'd suit up and give some of the guards a little action (i always lost). Maybe do what league of legends does and rebalance stuff every once in a while. Boosts and nerfs on pots, allow some to be available at some times and not at others. Mix it up. "Fiddlesticks. Invisi pots are out this month." Hell, add some lore to it. The gov't or prison changes policies or w/e. Again, i don't know about PVP that much as i never cared for it, so do your best.
As for free world. There needs to be reason to go out and actually use it, other than sheer enjoyment of building stuff. Remember, way back, Noakii i think it was decided that frees need to spend more time in free, so he made it so that prison was only open during the day of the server. Remember how well that worked? How we all just sat there, bored? There needs to be a good reason to go out into free and do stuff.

And it's summer, so that means a lot of activity on the server and no quitting I'm over all my problems and barriers and I was just wondering if you guys would give me another shot in an alpha position. I hope you guys understand.
You do know that most of us only have a month left of summerbreak, right? Summer is the most important time for Convicted, as people are most active during that time.
Tbh Convicted should have opened already, people are starting to forget about Convicted. Most of us have joined other prison servers to play on during the summer, since Convicted doesn't seem to open any time soon.
If it's going to be 3 more weeks before Convicted opens, I'm afraid I won't be rejoining the server. I can't speak for everyone, but my summerbreak only lasts 1 month.
As space said, it should have been a community project tbh. So many of us wanted to help, Convicted was our life.

In fact, school also ended for me just a couple of days ago. I'm basically just stating, that I most likely won't be joining if the server opens near August, since school starts for me and much of the GMT community around that time.

honestly id like less guards in C and more in B I spent days just killing little B's since gaurds almost never enter
Starting right after I post this, I am no longer a staff member. There are too many differences in opinions between my views and the views of the other staff members, and I'm not sure me staying a staff member is in my best interest. My opinion of the alphas, is that they are the worst bunch we've had over the past almost 4 years, and Viper agrees with me on that. The community of this server is not the one that I fell in love with in 2011. It has been tarnished by mean people, and bad judgement calls on everyone's part. I do not plan on playing Convicted upon release. Let's talk about when we're going to release the server. I will give you guys the information that you want to know. C block is done. B block is done (for the most part). A is done I believe. Elite is done for the most part, just some blocks need to be added here and there. They still don't know what they want to do with the free wilderness. Omega has been touched up a little bit. Donor WAS done, I remodeled the one that we had when we closed, but nobody liked it, so they've been messing with it ever since, and they're thinking of just scrapping what I made. As for shops, regions, and buttons/signs etc, none of that has been done. That stuff shouldn't take too long, but people are rarely working on the server, and I was no exception. I doubt that they will open in the "Less than 3 weeks" that penguii has been promising. She has always stated "3 weeks", and you guys are right to be mad. "I could care less what they think, or if they are getting impatient" -Peng. Little to no progress is being made. Every time I look at the server listing to see if anyone is on, there is no one. I wish Convicted 2.0 the best of luck, you were a server that I loved. It was filled with my friends, but recent events have left a bad taste in my mouth about the whole Convicted experience. Good luck to all of you, I'll stop in and say Hi, but I will not be a major part of the server.
There will always be a place in my heart for Convicted, but this isn't the server that it used to be. Too many of my friends have left, and it's just not worth it anymore. The staff members do not respect me in the slightest, so I have no reason to respect them, or be labeled with them as Staff.
To the community: I wish to see all of you on Convicted 2.0, whether it be for 5 minutes, or 5 hours. I love all of you, and you don't even know how much each and every one of you has impacted my life.
Thanks Rum for the update, I had a hunch things were not all cheery as they seemed when penguii kept saying that they would be ready by the weekend two weeks in a row. Too the staff that is still there stop running around like a headless chickens trying to appease us with false promises and keep the HYPE alive. You know what will keep HYPE alive and make people happy you get organized and dedicated times every Friday-Sunday for mandatory work on the server and WEEKLY updates now that we know the truth.
I still hope to talk to people on the server but not if you guys keep lollygagging around. For the time being anybody who would like to chat with me you can easily find me on Steam with my username of randoman200

As I enter I see a familiar face. Its Gabe Newell.
"Hi Gabe." I say
Hi Pandor/Jumbo/Whatever we call you now, Half life 3 is released. Do you want to come play with me?" He says.
