Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Beware that you do not lose the substance by grasping at the shadow.
*Twitch* Funner is not a word and urtah, I would suggest not trusting everyone whos nice, nice can always be a facade
Thing is, you're right, it CAN be, but not always. Best thing to do is keep a step ahead of them, if they actually try something, you'll be ready, if not, no harm done.
I'm one of the nicest guys on the Crusade, but that doesn't mean I'm a general within the Darkness who is trusted by the Crusade or anything like that, just means I'm a nice guy.
edit: testing stuff. Preview for new OP is below...
Beta Notice
The Server is still in an early Beta as we re-stabilize after the 1.2 fiasco. The Server is stable and functional, but we are still fleshing out buildings, adding and removing plugins, and tweaking things to establish the best balance and funnest gameplay! So please voice your opinions to help us make WoH the best Server it can be!
August 18th, 2012
As promised, the Server is now functional enough for users to play on it! We are still in the process of installing a LOT of plugins and functions, but it's stable enough as a beta for players to play and begin to test. Applications are reopened!
August 18th, 2012
Our world is 95% complete, just needing 'final polish' from beta testers to give any small detail feedback on biomes! However, the Server is LOCKED DOWN while we figure out a puzzling crash-bug that continues to crash our server non-stop. Once this is resolved (expected tonight or tomorrow), we will finalize 'polish' and begin installing plugins, shortly after re-opening applications!
August 14th, 2012
Server is acquired, stronger then old one, and cheaper! More info tomorrow when I have things getting worked on!
August 13th, 2012
New main post is up! It's simple and could do with further refinement, but still an improvement! Please note, the server atm is DOWN! We are trying to acquire funds to bring us back online and continue our progress. All updates will appear in this section! So keep your eyes peeled...

Welcome to the War of Hante. I will be brief! The World, is a forbidding place of wonders and splenders, as well as nightmares and beasts from the deepest pits of hell itself... on this world, a battle is raging, a war for survival. A war between Light, and Darkness. A war for survival, and obliteration... and with it, a story that awaits to be told, is being written by each and every action, each and every player does. No action is without consequence, no Consequence, without action...
Your world you know, means nothing. Your past life, is forever lost. Your very life hangs on a thread, between survival, and oblivion by each and every choice you make, you will teeter over this tiny thread. Will you become a being who rallies the Crusade and its followers to overcome the impending, unrelenting Darkness? Or will you be consumed by the madness, and bring death and carnage to all living things which oppose your Master? Or will you simply succumb to the madness of this world, and become another, nameless husk that rots away and becomes of the horrible dark creatures that dwells below the land, hateful of those who still live...?
Only time will tell, and only the mighty shall decide the victor of this eternal war between Dark and Light... Welcome, to the War of Hante, brave Lost Soul. Your Story, begins now...
* A unique, amazing world with biomes that span much, much further then you'd normally see!
* Unique, custom Biomes! From the Interesting Frozen Mountains, To the eerie Mushroom Glades, to the terrifying Chaos Biomes, there's all new places to explore, build, and die at!
* Modified Ore generation makes each biome even more distinct. Swamps are bountiful in Coal and even Diamond, but devoid of all else, while Deserts are the king of Iron, encouraging trading between towns setup in various biomes, as well as giving players a reason to explore them!
* Terrifying Monsters that will bring you to your knees in fear! From the simple Zombie, to the terrifying Explosive arrow firing Skeletons, to the Ruthless Pig Zombie Legions! You'll find Monsters are completely different to what you remember, and soon, many more, never before seen Denizens of the Darkness shall rise from the depths to claim you...
* Custom drops! Along side their new found powers, Monsters have acquired brand new drop tables! No longer will you groan after cutting down that Zombie, to find a pile of rotten flesh as your reward! Every mob, has a chance to drop from 6-50 different drops! Some are always dropped, some are 0.00001% chance! Some even require you to figure out sneaky tricks to vanquish foes, such as striking down Squids, when it is a storm outside to be able to acquire the rare Sponge block! (Which works )
* Even more Custom drops! Have you ever been annoyed you can't recover Glass Panes? Pick up ice blocks? Ever wish Trees dropped more then just saplings? Well, that's all fixed here! And plenty more fun little quirks to just make things a little funner/easier.
* Boseconomy combined with the ability to make successful trade towns, allows for a fully functional economy, that is just beginning to take root!
* Mcmmo adds in many custom abilities for profession and combat a like! Many of you SMP veterans know of Mcmmo, and will be very pleased with how I've set it up to make you work for your power.
* Zombie Apocalypse! We're in progress of making a fun little mini-game in which a team of players is placed into a sturdy, ancient Castle with farms, defenses, and supplies at hand, until the sun sets and the Undead Hordes rise from the forest all around the Castle, and lay siege to it. For every foe who falls, 2 more rise to continue... Can you survive the Endless Night, and hold back the Hordes?
* and Plenty more! You better read the Spoiler at the bottom of this post - that's our future and what you have to look forward to in the coming months!

The Darkness
The Darkness, as it is only known as is a malignant, malicious force that exists on the World of Hante, released from its eternal prison by foolish, power hungry Lost Souls who delved too far into the past of those long lost. What little is known about it, is that is seeks to consume and enslave all living things upon this world. Whether man or Beast, its touch corrupts and twists all without remorse. Even your closest allie or lover, could be touched by the Darkness, and become your greatest foe. None are free of the Darkness' reach, none are safe, and not even in sleep, will you find rest from its maddening influence...
Yet those who willingly give their bodies and minds to the Darkness, and are deemed 'worthy' by the darkness are gifted incredible, amazing power that no ordinary mortal could ever possess. yet, this 'gift' comes at the cost often of the victims sanity and soul, for once you are touched by the Darkness, Regret, Mercy, Doubt, forgiveness... they are all but meaningless concepts forged by the weak, for the weak. Those who serve, the 'Chosen' of the Darkness have cast off their weak 'shells', and given into their dark desires and have only a single purpose in their existence: To Serve their Lord, and spread his influence across this world, consuming all who would dare to oppose them.
The Crusade of Light
The crusade of Light, was originally a fabled group of Warriors of the 'Old ones', an Ancient race that once lived upon this world and has long since vanished and left only ruins of what were once great cities. The original Crusade of Light, from what little texts survive on them, was said to have formed to oppose a great darkness under the banner of a Women who commanded them, a fabled Woman who 'glew in a radiant light'...
Yet, those who wield the Banner of the Crusade do so now out of necessity, as the Darkness, the evil, malignant entity that was released continues to consume this world and grow ever stronger. The Lost Souls understand, if they are going to survive on this unforgiving world and find a way to return home - they MUST unite, and put aside their own differences and fight! They know not of the 'Old Ones' and the power they wielded to have battled the Darkness of old, but the Crusade and all within know they must unite, as Brothers and Sisters, to follow in the footsteps of the old Crusade of Light and take strength from it. To understand together, they can win. They can defeat this malignant evil that seeks to consume body and mind, if they believe.
Yet, in these dire of times, a shimmer of hope and despair equally, appeared before the Leader of the Crusade on one late evening in his dreams, where a 'Woman of Light' appeared before him and called to him. This mysterious figure spoke of a Land that in which the Darkness could not reach nor corrupt, where they, his people, would find their true home. As if possessed, this man rallied his most trusted of his Followers, and spoke of his vision, of his quest he, and only he must take upon himself. Despite the great concern shown, the Man did not for a moment doubt his 'vision' as being a mere dream, his eyes steeled in resolve. His final, and only order: Do not lose hope...
From that day, not a word has been heard from this man who formed the Crusade. Many whisper he was a coward who fled, many more have begun to fall into despair from the lose of their Leader... the Second in Command, a man who while resourceful and dilligent, lacked the Charismatic appeal of his leader and has tried, desperately, to rally the Crusade to unite once again. It is only a matter of time until the Darkness regains its full strength and unleashes it upon this world. Will the Crusade of Light be able to once again unite and become a beacon of light opposing the consuming darkness? Or will it dwindle and disappear, being consumed by the eternal Darkness...? Only time will tell...
Lost Souls ? You
Story about the darkness, Crusade, and the Lost Souls, how the 'player' arrives. (WIP)
Living Story, Living Consequences
Every action, will have a consequence. Every Consequence, will come from an Action, no matter how small.
An example is you may think your feud with another neutral cities leader, is pointless. Yet, by having this feud you are weakening both cities and opening yourselves to being conquered by the Crusade or Darkness, or even another Neutral city, and this, can have a dramatic impact on the game for example.
Choosing who you trade with will have dramatic consequences as well. You could make a bustling, massive trade empire across 20+ cities and own millions of coin and etc. Yet you decide to deny trading with the Darkness breaking your neutrality in the war. This could lead the Darkness to seeing you as a threat, as you are now ONLY supplying their enemies, and this would shift their eyes onto you, and possibly lead to the complete obliteration of your mighty empire... simplest of choices, can have the direst of impacts.
As well, at each 'world event' (which will advance the story of the world), what happens is entirely up to the users. Are the Crusade and its allies strong enough to overwhelm the Darkness and its guardians protecting the Obsidian spires? If they fail, the world would be plunged into an eternal darkness forever. Yet if not, something 'else' would happen. (this is a simple example - I don't wanna spoil ).
And in the end, when I write this into a book, your character, if worthy, will be brought into. If you're a simple farmer with nothing of note and keep out of the games major events, you'll be forgotten. But if you're a terrorizing Maruader who seeks the downfall of civilization, not caring about the Darkness of the Crusade or the consequences, only killing and plundering, becoming a true terror known across the cities - you would likely be mentioned, as you made a 'story' for your character, for example. There's so many ways to involve yourself, if only you actually try...
Sub-Biomes
Some Biomes have a smaller, rarer biome within them, either a hilly or mountainous version of the biome they are in. These Sub-Biomes have roughly 25% higher ore rates than their normal counterparts, making them well worth seeking out.

General Rules
These rules only apply to the Current world, and not the Story world
1) Griefing is not allowed.
-Destroying blocks that make up a part of a building is griefing.
-Placing water and/or lava on another persons property is griefing
-Destroying a farm by removing all wheat, melon/pumpkin stems, sugarcane, etc, and not replanting is griefing.
-Stealing tracks from a long player made tunnel used for transportation is griefing.
2) Loot Raids are allowed, with restrictions. A loot raid is where a player trespasses on another players property to steal from chests
-Stealing from chests are allowed.
-Stealing/breaking blocks that are part of a building or furniture is not allowed
-Stealing solid ore blocks (solid Iron, gold, diamond blocks) IS allowed.
-Glowstone is NOT a solid ore block, and is not allowed to be stolen.
3) Theft is allowed. Theft is stealing items or money from other players. This is often done via trade scamming.
4) You may only have up to 25 animals per town. This includes chickens, sheep, cows, pigs, and wolves.
5) Do not back-talk Helpers, Enforcers, or Admins. If you have an official issue with one of the Staff, do not argue with them about it, find another staff member not involved, and have them request an Admin investigate, and remedy the issue.
-If a staff member tells you to stop doing something, then stop. Don't argue, don't complain, just stop.
-If you feel a staff member has abused their power, report it to an admin right away.
-Staff that abuse their power are banned, they are in a position of trust and power, abusing that is unacceptable. If you are afraid you may be likely to abuse it, then we suggest you refuse or retire a staff position to be on the safe side.
6) Do not abuse exploits, report them. Knowingly abusing an exploit can result in a ban.
-If you find an exploit, don't "test it extensively", report it. Testing it that way is knowingly abusing it, and is not excusable.
-If you find someone abusing an exploit, report them to staff.
-Being staff does NOT grant immunity to penalties from abusing an exploit, they are to test, confirm, then report to an admin.
7) Bots, macros, and anything like them are not allowed. Bots/macros are tools that automate any given task via automaticaly repeated command inputs (macros) or any tool that does work for you, such as aiming, attacking, or even building entire structures (bots)
-If you suspect a player is macroing or botting, report it to staff to be looked into.
8) This is not an anarchy server, do not try to bend the rules to justify an action.
-If you are unsure of the meaning or extent a rule has, ask a staff member.
-Do not argue about rules with staff, the rules are here for a reason. People are entitled to voice their opinion of the rules, but not to argue over them.
PvP Rules
These rules only apply to the Current world, and not the Story world
PvP is currently disabled to allow players to build up strength, get materials, and build towns.
1) Meaningless PvP is not allowed. Meaningless means without cause, simply killing for fun, this is considered griefing.
-Duels are allowed
-You do not kill someone who said no to a duel request just because they said no.
-You do not kill someone just because they MIGHT have something you want.
-You can only kill someone as a bandit if you demand their items and they refuse. [This rule is currently NOT allowed, but will be in the future]
-You do not kill someone who is trying build something when you find them.
-You can kill someone that is trespassing within your property when they do not leave when asked, or ignore an obvious "no trespassing" sign.
2) Faction-based PvP is allowed
-Players make their own factions and relationships in the fun world (Current World).
-Faction to faction PvP rules are made by the factions' members and leaders when two or more factions or towns agree on the terms of engagement.
-Rules made by factions are up to them to decide, anywhere from planned sieges to kill-on-sight of opposing faction members.
-Factions are not allowed to attack factions that do not agree with their terms of engagement, unless following normal PvP rules
3) Staff won't police faction vs faction issues, PvP problems have PvP solutions. If the next town over does something you don't like, that's between you and them, not staff.

Applying is very simple! Fill out the application below, post it in a new post on this thread, and our staff will respond to you on this thread once you've been accepted!
Please note: We are not obligated to accept anyone at all, and will refuse any application, for any reason we feel fit. Please try to apply maturely, and responsibly, put consideration into your wording, and try to fill out each section in some detail! This shows you're not just a server hopper, and sincerely wish to join our Community.
Further, we will NOT judge you based on gender, age, or such things. Maturity and right to play does not related to Age, nor Gender. I have seen 13 year olds 10x more mature then 40 year olds, and 40 year olds more immature then a 10 year old.
Copy the below application, past it into a new post, and fill it out fully before submiting!
In-game name:
Gender:
Age (Don't lie!):
What are you skilled at in Minecraft?:
What do you want to do on WoH?:
What do you think of our future plans? (read below!):
Please note, if you have not been told your application has been accepted on this thread, DO NOT spam join! Spam joining causes chat spam, and server lag. Multiple time offenders will have their application (if applicable) denied, and themselves, BANNED from the server!
These apps are separate from normal apps as they are for staff related positions, rather than players or builders.
All apps listed here are handled in private, as such, you apply with them via pm. A public application will be rejected. Application Pm's are sent to Sabbykat, who will handle them herself, or by someone qualified to handle a particular app.
In-game Staff application:
This application is for in-game staff positions, such as Helpers, Enforcers, assistants, Sub-Admins, and the Divine.
When sending these apps, the title of the pm must be "[Position] Application", and nothing else. (ex. "Helper Application", or "Assistant Application", but not "bob's Helper Application")
An explanation of what each Staff member 'role' is, is listed a little bit above here! READ IT!
Note: You MUST be Whitelisted, and have been on the server for 2-4 weeks MINIMUM to be considered for staff! We want to know you're trustworthy, and that's proven by playing.
in-game Name:
Gender:
Age(Don't lie!):
Position:
Do you have any past experience related to the this position from another server?:
If yes, what server(s), and for how long?:
Are you presently staff on the other server(s) listed above?:
Why do you think you would be good for this position?:
Any Additional info you would like to add?:
Please note: all admin level positions are typically denied. These are ranks that must be worked up to and earned, and are only listed for informational purposes only.
Draw a picture showing your character and how they are 'sorry for their actions'.
This must be done by hand, not on a computer, using paper and either pencils, markers, and/or crayons.
Once done, you must post the picture in this thread. You may pm Sabbykat the image to get her attention as well, but you have to post it in the thread. Pms without a forum post will be ignored.
If you enjoy this server, then perhaps you'd consider donating to help us out.
Be sure to leave a note saying what donation type (read below) you wish to use, as well as your IGN. If you don't specify a donation type, we will use Accumlitive as the defaulted type. If you don't tell us your IGN, we cannot give you any rewards or perks, as we would not know who it woud go to.
Why donate?
At it's most basic, donations help keep the server running. Further donations allow us to progress with our plans faster, allowing for more content, as well as hardware/service upgrades for hosting to improve stability and expand what we can physically do. There are also perks for those that donate, which differ based on which type you choose to donate with.
About Donation types
Accumlitive Donations
These donations are recorded to your IGN, and each donation builds up in an accumilated amount. Ranks and their associated Perks that are obtained from this type are permanent, and do not require any sort of maintenence to keep. Each rank may only be obtained once.
One-time Donations
These donation are not recorded to your IGN, and won't build up at all. Instead, this donation type is used for repeatable rewards such as gold. Gold recieved is based on amount donated, scaling slightly higher as the amount donated at once increases (Meaning the larger the donation, The more gold you get per dollar)
[/anchor]
Q: Why is this thread so sloppy?!
A: I wrote it up very quickly just to get the basics out there. With the stories and details, and the future ideas, the post jumps up to over 40+ pages of info!
Q: Why am I in clouds when I spawn?
A: World height is set to about 50/50 (50% Land, 50% Sky). Why? To allow more underground area, of course! This makes it much easier to build underground, as well as allowing for much more expansive cave systems.
Q: Why does the ban appeal process involve drawing a picture?
A: Honestly, because words mean nothing. You can say you won't do something again, you can say a lot of things easily, but if someone draws a picture, it shows they really want to stay on the server, and are willing to put effort into proving it.
Q: I have a dispute on the server, how should I deal with it?
A: If you can't work it out between each other, contact a helper via forum PM. Do not argue in game or on the forums with the person you have a dispute with, just inform a helper, and they will try their best to resolve it. If you believe an admin is required for resolving the issue, still contact a helper, if the helper believes it needs to be dealt with by an admin, he/she will pass it along to a server admin.
Q: I want to buy skills and stats with real money, when will you implement it so I can do so?
A: Never, we do not believe in any sort of "pay-to-win" gameplay styles. If you want to be on top, you have to earn it.
Q: I have an idea for a fun event, can I suggest it for this server?
A: Of course! We can't always guarantee we will use your idea, but if it's viable and creative enough, we'll be more than happy to get it set up.
Q: What is this about 'future plans?'
A: Simply put, this Server exists for fun. We are awaiting a new API which will allow us to ENTIRELY alter Minecraft, in about 2-4 weeks! Soon as that is done, you will... well. Just go to the bottom of this post, click the 'Future of Hante - Spoiler' button, and let your jaw drop Everything listed there, is CONFIRMED by our coders to be doable, and will be added, not simple speculation.
Q: ?! What! No way! I just read that, it's impossible!
A: It doesn't matter if you believe us or not. When we finish our first 3 steps, Combat revamp, Level system addition, and Classes, you'll see
Q: Ok, well... will this world we play now disappear?
A: Nope. Our 'story' world, which will have all the biome changes, etc, will be a new world, yep. But this World will remain and be available to play on for fun, as well, cities which are worthy of note will be brought to the 'official' world if they fit the story theme well enough!
I'll clarify now. Yes, Mobs are hard. Yes, you will die. Yes, the cooldown on /home is 20 minutes. No, we will not reduce the difficulty, restore your lost items, or remove the cooldown. What joy is there in a game, when you're handed the cake, and then hand-fed it too? None.
We do not want the Game to be STUPIDLY hard, or frustratingly difficult, but we do not want a player to be able to run into the darkness, alone, naked, wielding a stick, and win vs the Denizen's of the Depths. Yet a player who is cautious and takes his time to explore and is aware of his/her surroundings, will practically never die to monsters.
And I'll add more here eventually... bite me. AHH, VAMPIRES! NOOO!! *runs*
[/anchor]
Below, is the beginning, sloppy list of additions coming after our API is completed in 3-6 weeks, and we can begin work! These are game-changing changes, and things you've likely never seen in Minecraft, or even thought possible! >=D
By clicking the spoiler tag below this, you are agreeing, and acknowledging that all ideas, characters, stories, and concepts are Copyright of War of Hante, and SabbyKat, and agree you will not copy, redistribute, or abuse the information provided for your own gains. You also agree, that all relevant trademarks, and material from Minecraft, is the sole property of Mojang. I do not own Minecraft, nor have any direct affiliation with them.
Legal Jargon aside, look below for the ideas of our future, and watch closely! More is being added all the time, hm hm hm... Note: we are working on a site dedicated entirely to the below information and much more not listed there. Stay tuned...
~ Clarify our intent to create the game as a stand-alone TC of Minecraft, with MMO aspects. Clarify we intend to have the story evolve actively with each world taking 6-12 months to properly conclude, while events constantly shape the story.
~ Clarify our intentions of revamping mobs, altering and weaving in a engrossing story, altering combat, adding classes, revamping the world.
~ Clarify further our intentions for the world, Describing the Void Biome as an example, a terrifying place of billowing darkness, where the void itself is manifesting and creatures of the Darkness and void are appearing, that all who enter are consumed and driven mad by the Darkness, or consumed by the horrors within. Then hint at Volcanic biomes, Ancient Forests, and other additions
~ Clarify Mobs are being revamped, modified, and tons more added with very strong abilities and intelligence to rival players, citing the Night Stalker, Deranged Ones, and Creeper alterations.
Cities ? the Rebirth
I'm going to be... very vague here for sake of copyright. Bare with me.
Cities, will be revamped and rebuilt in a way no Plugin has ever achieved. Cities, will give an 'area of control' around it based on the level of your City (from a single shack, to a spiraling kingdom). This 'area of control' disables the ability of anyone NOT part of the city, to damage, dig, alter, etc, any aspects of the area in the control, above, below, or on the surface. Mining, killing animals/mobs, chopping down trees, building structures, etc etc etc. But that's not its main use, but alas, I cannot say more of it... but you'll find the resources beneath the area of control, not requiring to be harvested
Secondly, the Area of Control gives various 'effects' to allied players, depending on... other structures. From Healing, to causing enemies to burn in holy flames inside the area, to causing massive amounts of vegetation to grow around the area, to such things. More will be detailed in the future.
Cities will grow and shrink based on two factors. Population, and wealth. Population is straight forward, the more people you have, the more power you have. That is logic. Yet even with 100 people, your city will remain a pathetic little hamlet until you invest large amounts of funds into your hamlet, and encourage its growth to a Village, Then a Town, etc etc etc, each 'upgrade' taking time, and a lot of coin to do, but each offering a wider area of control, more 'benefits', more building options, and more control options. Once you reach the size of a Village, you may claim 'outposts' small 10x10 areas of control useful for small, but critical points far from the Capital you wish to control for future expansion. While at a City rank, you gain access to specialized outpost like claims, such as the Road Fortress which is a specialized fortress buildable only on top of Roads, providing gated access with heavy guard presence, as well as very strong combat perks to allied players allowing players to deter Raiders from harassing travelers if placed intelligently.
There is much more happening, such as specialized Buildings, 'Sealing', and such things, but I dare not speak of them yet until we have something to show
The World ? what will happen?
Do not, for a single moment, think every moment the Darkness and Crusade fight one another, that your world will remain untouched, that because you are not involved in the war, you will not be touched... the implications of this war is the very fate of all life on it.
There is two types of 'consequences' that will alter the world, in a way all will see or feel. First off, is during the 'events' that progress the game from act to act. Acts are the phases of the game, Act 0 is the 'build act' where the war is not truly in progress yet, the world and its players are building up their cities and empires, their fortresses and arsenals. While act 1, the war officially begins. When Act 1, changes to act 2, there will be a massive, very important event that will take place to change to act 2. Depending on who wins, things will drastically change on the world. Monsters will grow stronger, appear in new places, and new Beasts and Creatures of the Darkness will appear. Mobs intelligence will rise and they will begin to unite and work together instead of conflict, the sun itself will dull, and such events...
The second type, is 'optional' changes. Secret, very difficult to find objectives scattered throughout the world via random generation which give hint to some very, very difficult to solve hidden quests, but could drastically alter the entire game. Example is a 'super rare' biome, that has a 1% chance to spawn. (about 1 will spawn in a 80,000x80,000 area). Yet on it, is a single structure with a truly horrifying secret to it, which could shed light on what the Darkness is, and alter this entire world by adding a THIRD faction into the game... does it allie with the Crusade? The Darkness...? What is it? Hehehe...
But know, every player will have a direct consequence to the end of the story, for every 'act' will define the next path of the game, until the final hours where the final confrontation will take place. Every miner, every warrior, every victory, every defeat will play its own part into who is victorous, and who will disappear. If this world shall push back the eternal Darkness, or the Crusade and all who refuse to bow, will be consumed by the Darkness...
How You shall Travel this world!
Now, one major flaw of the original Minecraft, is well... it's horrible to travel in. No auto run, no horses, no proper transporation at all, yet a vast, endless world! But fear not, my humble servants. For there is change coming, hm hm hm...
First, you will find Roads will be abundant and well constructed between major settlements. There will be many perks and benefits to roads, from being able to construct 'Fortresses' over them which allow NPC guards to patrol them and guard them from raiders and bandits, to passive benefits to moving faster on foot (depending on various factors). As well, they will negate the hassle of navigating rough, wilderness terrain, and give very clear, simple paths to get around safely, as monsters and Beasts cannot spawn on roads at all.
You will find walking made MUCH easier, especially with the handy addition of an auto-walk button! Yay! Simple, yet dear god, it's NEEDED!
You'll also find with some careful work, patience, and a tender touch, you will be able to raise, and eventually ride, various variations of horses! Horses will serve as your trusty mounts to swiftly get around on Road, or rough terrain, while also acting as mobile storage (if equipped). Understand, they will NOT be immune to harm, and will stay dead of slain! So take extra caution to protect your companion if you venture off deep into the wilderness! However, the extra hassle is a small trade off for the amazing speed, mobility, and power you gain from these trusty steeds, which will make any persons life all the easier.
Along with horses, Carriages, carts, and Wagons will make an appearance! They can be pulled by hand (Slower then running by a fair bit) or attached to horse(s), and pulled along and guided by the rider! Carts and Wagons are designed to haul large amounts of materials (such as chests full of valuables) for ease of trade and transportation, while Carriages offer personal ease of transport to reach specific destinations which have a 'carriage hotspot', a purchasable addition to Towns which allows hands-free travel from one point, to the City! Mind you, be aware it is not instant, and player or NPC raiders could strike, and disable your carriage on route! Do not be lost in care-free delusional of safety in your beautifully carved box, for the dangers outside will always exist, and are just waiting to strike.
Finally, Cities who have reached the pinnacle of their power, will be able to discover and learn ancient schematics and power of a long-lost magic, that allows the infusion of portals, and the creation of 'Portal Towers'! Portal Towers are just that, massive, ancient constructed temples that focus the magics and energies of the world to the tower, which is then harnessed to rip open 'gates' in space and time, allowing nearly instant transportation between two portals anywhere in the world! Despite its amazing abilities, it is extremely difficult to acquire, and only functions to other portals around the world. As well, individuals physical structures can only handle the magicks of the portals once every hour, else they may break apart during the brief exchange of position, which is not desired due to the previous accidents and the mess they caused.
/home, /spawn, /town spawn, and such commands will cease to exist. Travel will be a meaningful part of the game, roads will amplify your ability to travel, as will portals scattered across the world in long forgotten ruins. You may disagree, but that's your choice. Plan wisely, go with friends, set up secure bases in the wilderness. Laziness will not be catered to!
Neutral Cities
Even within the raging war of the Darkness and Crusade, there are those who do not feel drawn to eithers cause, fearing for their lives, family, or wealth if they were to choose a side, and instead gather into cities which hail to neither of the warring sides, ignorant to the impending doom of the world just wishing to survive day by day.
Cities without allegiance, fill in various roles in the game. While they are not directly involved in the war, often, neutral cities evolve into places of Commerce, Trade, and Power, welcoming both Members of the Darkness, and Crusade in equally so long as they exert control and respect while in the city, allowing for propserity to expand and bloom for an intelligent neutral city. For war will always require resources and trade, and an intelligent merchant or two will always be able to exploit wars to their benefit. Yet the same can be said to mercenaries, acting as hired arms for players who need some extra muscle for monster hunting, guarding their caravans, or such simpler, but vital tasks to get around this dangerous world, safely.
Do not be fooled and think Neutral cities are immune to the eyes of the Dark Lord and his Malice, or the Wrath of the Crusade. Neutral Cities are not assaulted due to the volatility of adding another foe, however, if a Neutral City blatant mocks and insults one of the warring Factions, such as refusing to trade with the Darkness, while continuing to trade to the Crusade in large number, they will find the ire of the Dark Lord upon them, and the consuming darkness will beset upon them to erase them. For if you do not serve, you shall not exist... (simplified: the factions CAN attack Neutral cities, and will if the provokation is there. It's not illegal, though it must have the authority of the 'leader' of the factions, to avoid bullying).
Neutral cities while they can become powerful and a presence in this war, are NOT able to unite together under a single flag. That means neutral Cities, will always be alone beyond verbal agreements, and any acts of betrayal from other Neutral Cities will have a blind eye turned to them in the sake of politics, for such trivial matters are between the Neutral Cities to squabble over, while the Crusade of Fights and dies to let you see another sun rise on this world, which is a far, far more noble goal...
However, Neutral cities are not without some power. For a City may at any time, request the backing of the Crusade of Light, or the Darkness, by doing so, yearning to join them as allies to their cause and be involved in the war. A neutral city who swears allegiance to one faction or the other, will lose their 'unique' neutrality, and become another part of the Darkness, or Crusade. They will obey their laws and regulations, they will NOT work with the opposing faction, they will do everything in their power to aid the Faction they are allied with, and once such a pact is made, there is no 'defecting'. The choice is final, brothers in arms till victory, or oblivion..
Classes and Combat
One gigantic change to the base of Minecraft, is the addition of Classes. Classes, will be very distinct in their purpose. Simple, yet extremely diverse. Before I go into the intricacies, below is a list of the Classes that will exist (at this moment), and their Specializations.
Note: Specializations are 'sub-classes' of a Class, that focus on a distinct aspect of their base class, and feign all other aspects, such as offense instead of Defense, or Dark Magicks, feigning any elemental or Light Magicks.
Assassins
Assassins are masters of Speed, Agility, and grace. Their footsteps, are silent, their blades, deadly, and their hearts, cold and ruthless without a trace of Mercy found within them, or their blades...
These cunning, cold blooded killers may specialize into three Specializations, as followed:
Shadow Stalker: Shadow Stalkers feign combat prowess, for unequable power over the darkness and Night, being able to literally merge themselves into the Shadows around them, and become entirely invisible so long as they remain in the shadows, and avoid the light endlessly. While not as powerful in Combat as the other two Specializations, their ability to by pass defenses, scout, and get around unseen is unequalable, and make them EXTREMELY valuable as saboteurs, Scouts, and Spies. They are also able to handle individual foes who are without aid assuming they get the drop, but outside of the shadows, they are extremely vulnerable.
Blade Dancers: Blade Dancers are Assassins who have taken their agility, and Dexterous grace to a whole new level where they need not hide from foes. Blade Dancers are fighters who harness their incredible agility and dexterity to dismantle foes and their offense, gracefully avoiding and countering every strike a foe delivers, while returning with their own precisely placed blow that bypasses all defense. Their style of fighting is often resembling a 'Dance of Death', an amazing feat to observe as their foes haplessly swing at them, and the Dancer gracefully disassembles every blow, before finishing their victim... Blade Dancers are the 'dirty fighter' styled class.
Prowler: Prowlers, are Assassins who hunt their victims endlessly from the shadows, waiting patiently, ever so patiently until the perfect moment to strike appears, where they make their move and take out their target, vanishing just as quickly as they appeared....
Prowlers, are stealthy, assassination based fighters who excel at control and escape. Pinning a Prowler down, is extremely difficult, and their power against single, poorly armored victims is unmatchable. However, despite this, they themselves are extremely fragile and confronted by more then one victim, will swiftly turn the tides in favor of the group, for Prowlers excel at single target assassinations unlike their Blade Dancing brethren, and they will swiftly crumble under the combined might of a group. However, they are also extremely adept at making deft escapes from even the most dire circumstances, making truly pinning a Prowler down to finish it, extremely difficult...
Warriors
Those who hone themselves with the simplest method of combat, Armor, a Weapon, and a foul temperiment are called Warriors. Hardy, resourceful fighters who do what must be done to ensure their lives, and the lives of their allies remain intact at any cost, or perhaps, the lives of their foes, are ended in the most brutal method imaginable...
Berserker: Berserkers, are all in senses raging lunatic. They are Warriors who's only thought, is how to brutally dismember, and tear apart anyone, or anything that would dare oppose them. They feign bulky, protective armor for the ability to wield massive, mighty two-handed weapons such as the Two-handed Axe, Mace, and Sword.
Berserkers specialize in one thing, and one thing only. Making whatever they want dead, dead. They fear not man nor beast, single foe or entire legions, and are adept at recklessly charging into the ranks of entire armies and cleaving entire legions down single-handedly. A raging Berserker while lacking in armor, is a foe who's insane, violent power is something to NOT be trifled with, and ignoring one is a sure way to have your life, and head, cut early...
Blade Master: Blade Masters, are Warriors who have focused their training solely around their blade. They understand the strength of their blade as more then a weapon, as it can take life, as well as defend life. They harness a balanced stance in combat, striking with precision, and foes who are extremely difficult to strike, for they are capable of parrying blade, arrow, or even spell alike with the proper, skilled timing of the blade to feign off harm.
Blade Masters are a mixture of Offense, and Defense, only capable of using Swords, but are masters of Parry. Each Parry, will deflect 80% of harm (from ranged and melee), while Magic has a 50% chance to be 'reflected' if the parry happened within the last second. Each time a Blade Master Parries an assault, they gain even wider variety of power and control, able to strike their recoiling foes with precise, fatal blows crippling them or disarming them.
Defenders: Masters of the Shield, protectors of the weak, living walls of metal and flesh. Defenders value their power to defend, and protect themselves, and their allies from harm above all else, donning the mightiest of armors and wielding massive shields making them versatile, mobile walls of protection and power.
Defenders utilize their shields, and weapon to combat and hold back foes. They are especially fatal against melee, but are not helpless against Casters, able to 'bash' spells back at pesky casters, and even hurl their shields (with proper talents) to inflict grievous harm to those attempting to keep away from him, or bombard him from walls.... (more later)
Beast Masters
Rangers
Primal Mages
Spell Blades
Sorcerers
Relic Keeps
Simplified, Relic Keeps are places of immense, terrifying power left by those who created them long, long ago. For those who control the Relic, gain their 'blessing' and with it, the very power the Relics Wield.
Relic Keeps are comparable to Battlegrounds. They are placed at key points around the world, and are pre-set battles (as in Defenders, and Attackers will have siege, resources, etc, given to them when they 'join' the battle). Relic Keeps can only be taken by violent sieges, bringing down their ancient gates and walls, then braving the horrors within, for these Keeps are armed with Traps, mazes, and Guardians left by those of old to protect the Relic hidden within from all intruders.
Relic Keeps will offer faction-wide benefits to the Side that controls them (Sorry Neutral cities!), giving world-wide buffs/benefits to the owners. This type of power CANNOT be allowed to remain in enemy hands!
Sieges are very simple to initiate. The side that does not own a keep, must enter its 'area of control' with at least 5 players from their faction. This trigger a 'challenge', warning the owning Faction of the invasion and gives them exactly 15 minutes to reach the Keep and prepare themselves (which a portal at Spawn, will provide to the owning faction). The Offenders are immune to all harm while this timer ticks down. After the 'time' has ended, both sides cannot have more players join, Offense has siege weapons spawn, gates and walls become damagable, Traps arm, Guardians Spawn, and both sides are now able to attack each other! Offense has 1 hour exactly to take the Keep. Defenders must at all costs, keep the attackers out of the Relic room deep in the depths of the Keep!
You may ask 'why bother?' very simple. The buffs they give are VERY powerful. Such as a 25% chance to gain double drops from all ores, loot drops, and crafting! 20% more experience, and such buffs offer extremely lucrative reasons to siege, beyond having some fun and spilling the blood of your foes and proving your side is more powerful!
Be aware, 'sieges' can only be initiated once per 6 hours, win or lose. This is stop abuse and harassment by constantly sieging. Furthermore, at least 5 individuals of the opposing faction must be online, for a siege to occur to stop 'offlining' and late-night abuse.
Sieges and City Warfare!
Another major Feature, is our focus on Sieges. What do I mean by Sieges? I mean just that. Army vs city. Walls, Gates, players, catapults, ballista, everything! What more glorious way is there to combat, then roll up massive weapons of war to an enemies walls, and blow it apart with devestating chunks of stone and even rarer materials?! What greater glory is there then to charge head on against an enemy city, as their warriors come to meet you on the field of battle, arrows and flaming boulders exploding and flying over head as you clash with them, as the screams of battle echo all around you, all for the sake of glory and victory?
Sieges are a major focus for pvp. Towns for example, will be able to create specialized defenses on their walls to help combat sieges, such as mounted 'harpoon' guns players can man and use to deliver devestation below, while NPC guards will rush to pre-determined areas to rain hell down upon Invaders and attempt to hold them back from the walls. Gates and Walls, will not act like normal blocks, but instead will have health bars, which slowly regenerate when not being harmed. For example, Diamond Plated Blocks (the best type of wall block defense) will have terrifying health and resistances, and can withstand a sustained bombardment from catapults, for a great deal of time. Yet combined with on-foot reinforcement of explosives, as well as sustained Catapult bombardment, even the mightiest, well crafted wall will crumble beneath the onslaught!
Offenders will not be without their own tricks however. For Catapults can be armed with varying types of ammunition, from the most basic 'stone' ammo, to the magically enchanted variations which cause horrifying devastation and ailments to where they hit, such as engulfing an are in seething flames, to sticky solutions that reduce victims movements by 95% while moving through it! As well, you'll be able to fire PLAYERS. Yes. Living players, out of the catapult. This has two purposes. #1 espionage ? fire a fighter over the walls, meaning defenders have to be cautious of not just their walls, but their internal defenses (a player has to have specialized gear to survive this kind of landing though), or... taking a Prisoner of War, and splattering their entrails off the enemies wall to demoralize them. What is more disheartening when your own commanders guts are dripping off your walls, hmm?
The deciding factor of victor or defeat, will in the end, be the combatants. Whether Mages and Rangers arm the walls bombarding attackers keeping them at bay, or the Offenders lead the charge as the gate falls and forces past the defenders line and into the heart of the city, forcing the Defenders to engage them on foot in a brutal battle, it will always end with the players and their team work. Mages will not have free reign on walls, for Offenders will utilize their Spell Blade players to decimate foolish Mages who stand in the open and attempt to bombard his allies. Sneaky Asssassins will breach their defenses, climb their walls, and ambush defenders who are too comfortable in their safety of the walls, allowing the ground forces to breach their walls during this time or set off a vital charge to bring down the walls! Classes are designed to synergize strongly, especially in Sieges!
It is nigh impossible to simplify a Siege in words, for it is truly like a Dance. Every step, every slip, is a deciding Factor in it. But I can state clearly, it will be simple, yet extremely intricate. Your very city lay out, your strategy, etc, will define how each siege occurs, and there will NEVER be a cookie cutter method to deal with a siege, for each will be their own unique moment, their own moment of glory or defeat, of victory or defeat... of Power, or Weakness...
~ Clarify how crafting will be revamped, noting gems, Steel, Copper, dozens of new Cloth/Leather pieces, how Enchants will be made from gems along with precious jewellery, and how the Economy will work.

edit: testing stuff. Preview for new OP is below...

Story about the darkness, Crusade, and the Lost Souls, how the 'player' arrives. (WIP)

[/anchor]
And there's more!... but none that i wanna post yet.
[/anchor]

There is much more happening, such as specialized Buildings, 'Sealing', and such things, but I dare not speak of them yet until we have something to show
Do not, for a single moment, think every moment the Darkness and Crusade fight one another, that your world will remain untouched, that because you are not involved in the war, you will not be touched... the implications of this war is the very fate of all life on it.
