I got to thinking I could roleplay that a written book could could my spell book and that would allow me to remember the spells as I earn then. Cant wait to play on yall server!!
I absolutely love the arcane archer idea, creative and not so outlandish that it would be against the fabric of possibility, that said; you have to generally prove yourself responsible before receiving spells, but an arcane archer character can still work in RP, even if they are a regular archer at first, could be training under one of the High Tier Wizards, etc.
Don't worry, in the RP world its ask and receive, basically. If not you can always go to the Archery shop I made and grab a bow and arrows from there.
We have an archery range too, which would be pretty cool for an RP practice area. There's also three military groups. The Assassins Guild, the Army and the Rangers. You'd want to go with the Rangers if your bow skills are formidable, the army mostly is about melee fighting and graduation tests would have you test your skill with a sword. The Assassin's are a great coup but they expect you to be trained with multiple weapons (sword and bow) and specialize in keeping order around Canaleth as dictated by morals and ethics rather than the King's baton. The Rangers and army directly serve the king, if you seek to be a tad rebellious then the Assassin's is prime for this sort of thing.

1. Magic classes are rarely allowed. Since you want to be an arcane ranger, it may be good to start off without spells and maybe learn them later if Jimony (the mage) deems you worthy.
2. The Assassin's are NOT rebels and NOT against the King, neither is the army nor the king a form of dictation.
3. The IP will be sent to you over the forums. So yes, you must have an account with us. Good thing is that you will be kept up to date with what we do and you will be able to to attend to all sorts of events.

Been adding cameos in my game, and I decided Jfield definitely deserved one, but since he has no true alias outside Oliver and his awesome Ninja Bunny I decided I'd attempt the former, seeing as no avatar yet exists for it I used his fanart of the Canaleth community and coloured it in, re-emphasized the outlines, and added transparency.

I just wanted to write here to tell all you players out there who want to join something:
STAY ON THE SERVER! I can't stress this enough! We lost a few members before, but simply because life got in the way (computer broke, going to school, etc). But we've lost even more simply because they gave up. I've looked from page 80 onwards, and I don't even remember any of the people that joined the server. They never even got on.
Remember that this is a private server (by that I mean whitelisted), so don't be inconsiderate to others and hog up a spot if you know you won't be able to attend. Some of the people here had serious potential, I could tell by their application forms! Energetic, optimistic, and wanting to do some serious RP. That's the people we need, and that's the people we're losing.
So remember, this is Saturday and Sundays, when most people have time off. If you're in the US, the RP server time falls right around lunchtime, so you can play with a sandwich between your teeth (in my case, three sandwiches. 'Murica.).
If the word "dedication" scares you, just remember that you are passing up a once-in-a-lifetime chance. (okay, maybe twice, but it's a stretch). I joined... in June, I think. It was scary, I'll be honest. These people I didn't know, lore I barely knew... plus I chose a real bad starting character to boot. When you think up a character for the first time, sure, you don't know the lore, you're character won't be fleshed out really. But we've seen many new characters that "don't know their past" or "are wanderers from lands that were destroyed."
I pulled off the latter, but I did it well, and I knew the lore, but make your characters awesome! Don't settle for less. Make them interesting. I helped a newbie out once, and helped flesh out his character, so if you need help, don't be afraid to ask any of the other vets on the server for help.
And again, I stress once more, Stay on the server! It's aggravating when players don't even show up!

I'll emphasize not to worry too much about the oddity of the character you create, just don't fear about asking some of the veterans for help if you feel you're doing things wrong or awkwardly; Trondheim, Jfielder, Eagleeye are all exceptional RP'ers and are typically who I suggest going too. Sjunior and Loion are also good at introducing new meat and helping them fit in.
I gotta agree, too many excellent roleplayers never show up again. It's quite sad, introducing a new character and then just letting him/her rot in a basement, long forgotten.
And as Jfielder said, never be afraid of asking! Making your first character, choosing which style suits him, what his past is all about, doesn't mean making a long post. It means playing the character, evolving the character, not document about him.
Here's an example, my character had a really open backstory that I didn't intend to flesh out. Not in a post. Through referencing it, giving him appropriate talents, telling stories. You create the lore, past events are subject to change, nothing is set in stone.
