Hello! I just have a few questions about minecraft servers? Is it legal to play on a cracked minecraft server. Will I face problems because I am a regular player on that server. Can i get hacked in anyway because of this.
I am new to minecraft (just started yesterday) and dont know alot of stuff about server's. That is why I want to know all of these stuff for my own safety. And please answer the question according to the topic.
Thank You very much for your time
If you have a bought account and are playing on a cracked server that is basically running offline than no you shouldn't face any illegal problems or hacking.
Well it is illegal to say.. but about the same as downloading music(or a little bit less).... but if you can, I would chose not to play on one, just cause. But yeah, buy it its worth it.
I believe OP has a legit copy of Minecraft, and is just curious about playing on someones server that is "cracked."
The fact is the difference between a cracked server and a legit one is only one option in the config file for the server. There is an option to have the server ping Mojang's database to see if the user has a legit account and then prevent them from logging on to the server. If this option in the config file is disallowed then anyone with the correct version of Minecraft (cracked or not) may log onto the server.
The server config file is just a text document with all the options set to either True or False. So there is no cracking involved as that would mean replacing one of the default server files with a file that is custom, unofficial, or not supported by Mojang. Or changing the code of the server in some way not supported by Mojang.
TLDR Servers can't be cracked... but copies of minecraft can. There is no risk if you play on a server that is "cracked" as it is a feature of vanilla servers.
I did buy the game, and i also played on a server known as cosmic craft. Somes ops where saying that the server was cracked on the chat page. Since I am new to the game I did not know what that meant. So i asked them. They did not reply. So I ask the forums.
If anyone here is a cracked user, please come to my server (still very small and has the aether II mod installed) which has the space for 40 minecrafters.
I'm new to making servers and stuff, so please don't be rude

As far as I know, cracked servers are ilegal becuase they break Minecraft's CUG (Comercial Use Guidelines):
SERVERS AND HOSTING[/header] With hosting servers, we want to enable the community to make money by creating, hosting, and maintaining servers for Minecraft, so you may do this subject to these Guidelines. By "server," we mean a single connecting address or IP number.
Therefore, if you comply with and follow the Brand and Asset Usage Guidelines and Naming Guidelines above, YOU MAY:
charge for access to your server, including a server which hosts your Mods, BUT only if:
you make a charge per person that is the same for everyone;
you give everyone you charge access to all the Mods that you choose to have on your server (except only in respect of genuine admin tools / admin Mods which should be reserved to administrators);
you only give access to your server to users who have a genuine paid for version of Minecraft;
you own or control the server and continue to do so for the whole time that you charge for access to it - so, if you sell the actual servers or server space with Mods pre-installed on them, you must ensure that the person buying the server is aware that she must follow these rules. Essentially you can’t get around the above by setting up servers with Mods on and then selling those set-ups
ask for donations (as opposed to direct charges) IF you do not offer the individual donor something in exchange that only he or she can use. You may offer server wide rewards if donation goals are achieved though.
sell entitlements that affect gameplay provided that they do not adversely or negatively another player’s experience and provided they do not give a competitive gameplay advantage. A competitive gameplay advantage is something that, given identical skill levels, time investment, and circumstances, can cause one player or group to perform better than another.
Be aware that certain games or game modes can be designed as non-competitive (such as a player-versus-environment (PvE) game) and become competitive by adding gameplay elements such as a leaderboard.
sell cosmetic entitlements, except for "Capes," which we define as anything that attempts to visually emulate the feature of a Minecraft player Cape.
provide in-game display and video advertising, sponsorships, or product placement for third-parties IF (i) they don’t degrade or interfere with gameplay or give a user any competitive gameplay advantage over anyone else on the server and (ii) you follow the rules outlined in “Constructed Promotions in Minecraft” below.
use and sell in-game virtual currencies IF (i) they have no real-world value and that cannot be cashed out, used, or transferred across free or paid servers, or into any other currency with real-world value; (ii) you don't give the impression that it comes from or is associated with Mojang, (iii) they don't look like or have similar names to Minecoins or any other official virtual currency, and (iv) anything you sell with the currency follows our monetization guidelines.
Minecraft's CUG explicitly prohibites servers from allowing cracked players to join, therefore, that server is an "ilegal" minecraft server, you need to stop playing there, and you could techinally report that server to Mojang.
Edit: Checking back, I realized I am wrong. Minecraft's CUG prohibites cracked servers IF they are charging access to join the server. Jejeje... I am sorry if I confused you.
