1. Will you make diamond tools indestructable? (You loose them upon death but they do not "wear" or "decay" from use.
2. Will you turn off fall damage?
3. We will have control over the permissions in our "town" or "empire" as you might call it?
4. Will you have a real website with forums?
5. Will fire spreading and other anti-griefing measures be put into place? (/restore mod, fire spread off, locked chests)
6. Will you give us a mode of transportation such as the MoveCraft plugin (/airship's)?
7. How many slots will this server have? Is this dedicated?
1. No, but we will probably be using McMMO meaning you'll be able to easily "repair" your items, rather than having them break and needing to get whole new ones.
2. Hadn't really thought about it, what advantages would that bring? I know with the McMMO system there's an acrobatics skill that increases the more you fall - which, as it levels up, causes you to take less fall damage.
3. Yes, you will have full control. Look into the "towny" system. You can add residents, sell plots, add town ranks, promote people to mayor, declare war on other towns, all kinds of crazy stuff.
4. Check out the DEMO website @: jmanna.net/empire (ignore the twitter feed on the side, not for this server)
NOTE: NONE of the content on that site has anything to do with Empire - thats just a demo site... those arent our rules, not our forum, etc. Ignore the content - thats just a preview of the design. I have the domain "empireMC.net" registered, so when myself and Yashua (co-owner) are done building the website as seen on that demo page, it will be "empireMC.net" and we will have an extremely active forum (forum ill get set up tonight).
5. Yes, fire spread off, anti-grief in place, big brother installed... I used to run one of the biggest Minecraft servers.. period. We saw a regular 150-200 players online. I know what I'm doing when it comes to running / setting up a server!
6. MoveCraft, while lovely, is infamous for the lag it induces. It's fine with 20-40 players online if you have enough RAM and CPU power - but the plan with this server is to have a regular 80+ online, and there quite simply is no way to have MoveCraft in without it inducing immense lag with those # of players online :sad.gif: As for modes of transportation, I'm a big fan of teleportation networks and/or minecart tracks... but I'm open to suggestions.
7. To start the server will have 50 slots, on a dedicated 100Mbit internet connection. We plan on upgrading very, very quickly. I've got money to spare and so does my Co-Owner - we're not teenagers running this, we want to treat it very seriously and will invest accordingly. We both do server related work in real life and know how to run a stable, 99%+ uptime, zero lag server.

Any other questions?
Sounds like you know what you are doing.
1. Not a fan, but I can live with MCMMO's "repair" feature. It simply means more time mining rare ore/minerals and less time building :tongue.gif:
2. We never used the acrobatic feature of MCMMO so I'm unfamiliar. Typically, in sky scrapers and other tall structures we would have a ladder shaft and a "drop" shaft to drop down quickly from high structures. Aside from that, there is no other advantage. Unless you count the sheer annoyance of taking damage from falling. It's an admin call on this one.
3. We had problems with lag when MoveCraft's /UFO and /AIRCRAFT were enabled. This is due to the travel speed of those types of crafts. We simply used /airship which I believe moves at a maximum of 5 blocks-per-click. Also, we had limits on the size of airships. I believe it was around 30 blocks maximum? The Nether is obviously an option along with minecart tracks and water canals. Transporters /sethome /home etc are others. I'm not sure where I gauge your "vanilla tastes best" idea on things. Some admin's want it to be more painful to travel while others want to make it easy, while giving you more things to build. (Example: Airships need Hangars! airships are fun to make!)
4. The website looks good. I prefer simple to overly complex, so I like it. I would add some kind of Donate/Shop button up there along with a MAP button? Do you intend on having a map plugin so we can view the map in real time along with players location? I'm assuming the "Server Info and Guides" section will have some kind of Wiki-like area? or an area with a list of "empires" and towns along with a list of plugins being used? What about an IRC Chat plugin so we can chat with in-game users from outside?
So you have:
HOME / FORUMS / RULES and FAQ / SERVER INFO & GUIDES / VOTE FOR US
I would do:
HOME / FORUMS / RULES AND FAQ / SERVER WIKI / MAP / CHAT / SHOP OR DONATE
The Server Wiki would have "Server Info / Empires & Towns / Plugins"
You could create a new page for Shopping and Donations where you sell things like Ice Blocks, spawners, and such.
The "Vote For Us" could be a button located elsewhere. But I'm unfamiliar with it.
5. Sounds like you know your shtuff! Wow, that is a mega-server man. Glad you can keep grief off. I'm not sure what the plugin is called but mods/admins can use a designated tool (wood hoe?) to check the logs on a block, or a missing block along with chests to see who destroyed/griefed/stole from a chest. I also remember something called WorldEdit that has a /RESTORE feature where you select a given area and restore that area in case of griefing. You probalby know this stuff :tongue.gif: I'm probably wasting your time and spinning my wheels here. hehe
6. See #3
7. Sounds good. I know that sharing RAM with other applications can bleed into minecraft server causing lag and disconnections or other odd behavior.
8. Linux or Windows?
9. Will mods be able to perform saves and restarts in case the admin is not around and the server is lagging to hell or having other issues?
10. MCMMO keeps a cache of blocks that have been placed/mined by users. This cache can be set to clear on a daily or weekly basis (Depends on your preference). This is to stop players from gaining skill points by hitting the same blocks over and over. One thing I would like to propose is the clearing of this cache on a daily basis. Why? Because if you clear the cache, players can create "training centers" where they build a structure and fill it with sand/pumpkins/unsmelted ore blocks and such and they can safely "Train up their skills" on a daily/weekly basis. It opens the door to more creative construction.
11. Suggested Plugins: Growbie (Bonemeal multiplies flowers/shrooms and other plant life, can be set to 1:1 duplication) / FenceStack (allows you to stack fence on top of fence without needing to use the dirt trick) / CreatureBox (Allows you to mine up with a pickaxe, any monster spawners you find in a dungeon and also allows the admin/mods to award/sell any kind of spawner imaginable) / PumpkinDiver (Allows players to put pumkins on their heads and dive under water without dying) / CraftIRC (Setup an IRC channel with in-game chat) / Auto-Repair (You already don't like this one, but it auto-repairs tools/armor/weapons depending on how you set it).
Most of what I am saying is simply suggestions based on my own personal experience with other MC Servers. I don't know that I find most of these a high priority or a "must have" or anything. As long as anti-griefing/chest locking is in place I am happy. I'm not an avid fan of PVP but I can get involved if I have a CHOICE to get involved. (IE: No random ganking inside my own empire/town). I would hope that you might allow permissions inside of our towns/empires to include shutting OFF creeper damage so that noobs who wander into our towns do not blow our things up. To me, that's the same as griefing with TNT.
2. I will seriously consider disabling fall damage, more than likely I'll do it, based on your suggestion + asking Yashua about it and he agreed.
3. I will always want it to be easier to travel - to get more players playing, the fewer annoyances you have the more players will play, hence why I think I'll disable fall damage like you said.... but Movecraft will need to be tested. I have another dedicated box where we can do some testing - but based on my experience I highly doubt it will be viable when we get a lot of people online... but it's worth some testing at least!
4. Yeah none of those buttons are set in stone, thats just us copying one of our other sites honestly. The main menu will probably be..
Home....Rules & FAQ....Forums....So how do I join?....Guides & Tutorials....Map....IRC....Vote for us!....Donate
Rules&FAQ==dropdown with both
Forums==Forums
So how do I join?==plain english thing people will see to learn how to get whitelisted
Guides & Tutorials==Wiki basically
Map==Yes, plan on having DynMap (live updated 3D map, can have this set up in minutes, done it a hundred times)
IRC==Probably, I like to have it so I can talk to people in-game from my phone, so 90% likelihood we will have this
Vote for us!==A link to the minestatus.net voting page to "vote up!" the server. The more votes we have the more players we'll get from that site - always a good thing
Donate==Donation page, with various benefits for donating and various "levels" of donation
5. BigBrother is the plugin where we can go to a griefed area, type "/bb here" to see who modified that area, then do "/bb rollback *griefer name*" and it will roll back (completely UNDO) any griefing that person did
6. See #3
7. It's a dedicated box - nothing will be using up any memory other than the server :smile.gif: This will mean no lag, and supreme stability - 99%+ uptime
8. Linux Ubuntu
9. Not likely - there will be enough admins right off the bat, and enough stability, that there simply won't be an need for Mods to have that power. Trust me, between Yashua and myself ALONE (let alone other admins we'll get), we will have 24hr/day support. Not to mention I am in vent 24/7, so if Im asleep and the server is lagging / needs a restart / whatever, you can simply come into my vent channel and wake me up - thats the way I've done it for years with game hosting :smile.gif:
10. I think you'll have to elaborate a bit. I will be new to the McMMO system, and you clearly know a thing or two about it, let's discuss more later in ventrilo / on skype perhaps?
11. Growbie: maybe
FenceStack: sure why not :smile.gif:
CreatureBox: already planned on putting this in, if its updated to CBB740
PumpkinDiver: sure why not :smile.gif: i'd love to see an underwater empire!
CraftIRc: see #4 above
AutoRepair: lets discuss more later, maybe

I appreciate your suggestions and valued input! Anti-griefing and chest protection will be in place from day 1, don't worry. And PVP is 100% optional - Empire Creators will have the ability to completely disable PVP within their empire, or have it turned on - up to them. Creeper damage + block damage is disabled in the ENTIRE WORLD because they're too annoying, don't worry.
We'll be looking for some older guys to help out with the server, if that interests you! (I'm 21 as well)
If you are talking about helping out with building and such, I'd be proud to help out. If your are talking about Mod/OP
then I'd prefer first taking a look on the server to see, if I like it, since I cant decide to stay without having a opinion about the server.

Would helping out with the server interest you at all? I'm looking to build a dedicated, mature staff of 20Years old and above!
Let's play it by ear. I don't want to commit to that kind of responsibility until I'm sure that I'll be setting up permanent residence on your server.
(Also, please re-read my post above as I've added additional questions :smile.gif:)

- whitelisting people
- moderating chat

I can get on Ventrillo, or teamspeak if you have a preferred server.
