Sure enough, it's down again. Really a shame it goes down quickly as of late, this is the best server I've played on.
I totally agree with you 100 percent. Id love this server so much more if lag was gone and these timed out things stopped. I lost 18 diamonds yesterday due to insane amounts of lag.
I really didn't want to do this... but I just did.
The server will automatically restart every 4 hours. This way, if this 'memory leak' or whatever it is comes back - it will get squished periodically.
We can also increase or decrease the interval if things don't work. The upside to decreasing it to 2 hours would be that peoplep can't get trapped out of the server as long if the server does crash. The downside being that there would be more restarts.
Fortunately, most restarts take about 15 seconds, and save character inventories beforehand.
Every server I have played on had this same issue. I'm certain there is a bug with Java. Could be a memory leak. Anyway, as Dog said, server is now set for a reboot ever 2 hours. Should not have an effect in-game. If there is, please say so.
Border radius increase from 300 blocks to 367 blocks.
67 blocks may not sound like alot... but it's a 50% increase in the size of the server! (check my calcs i'm tired)
Have fun guys.
The extreme latency is becoming an issue as average players per day have dropped in the last 48 hours. Myself among others are getting lag that causes timeouts of up to 10 seconds before re-syncing with the server. I don't know what the cause is. It can be many things.
Our bandwidth is clearly good enough to prevent these issues so I'm thinking that it is something internal with the MC client or server client. As much as I'm excited for SSDs, understanding the technical aspects point me to believe it won't fix the lag issues (if it does, It would be only coincidence or if for some reason the server is constantly saving every 20 seconds). Perhaps the map has been through too much creeperage.
Today I was just returning home after mining diamonds. I was putting some stuff into a chest when my health went from 10 to 0 instantly. After asking around I found out who killed me.
So yes, the lag is horrible, it's been worse than usual this afternoon/evening especially.
I'm still holding out for the SSDs. Another server I was playing on had the same issue cured by using SSDs instead.
Also, there are some mysterious issues of late with people who can slip into bases and go directly a chest without any searching or test-digging. We might have some cheaters. Will keep everyone posted.
Lag is good right now. It seems to get bad during prime time.

Here's an example that I found while running about. This is one of MANY cases. Sorry for the weird crop. The image was a larger res but it was cut down.
If a chest is surrounded by blocks on all sides, then you won't be able to see it with the invisible ground texture hack--the client doesn't render blocks that are totally obscured by other blocks. This would not stop the more advanced hackers though.
I'm extremely interested in testing this server out, but every time I try to connect I get a "Failed to connect to the server; Connection refused" message. This makes me sad.

SSDs were being installed on the server. You can now join and help test our new technology.
Unfortunately for the love-to-***** crowd, the lag is gone. You will no longer have anything to talk about, bitchers. Sorry :sad.gif:. I will do my best to bring the lag back by throwing out the SSDs and installing an old IDE 1000 rpm hard drive with 100 byte cache.

LAG: as far as lag goes, it may be your local client. I have been getting an excellent connection here in AZ, and also get a good connection in CA.

2 days is such an exaggeration lol.
