Hi there, I have signed up for a minecraft server with MCProHosting and need advice please.
The aim is for a well-run small server to be advertised locally - for my young kids to make friends with other kids who are into Minecraft.
We're not scared of monsters and will run a hard mode survival world. We want to encourage kind friendships and working together so we want to prevent griefing, stealing, PVP, etc.. and encourage trading and friendly competition, etc.
Which version of minecraft would you recommend? What plugins or settings etc should we use?
I would like my daughter to be able to have an ownership/leadership role but if she has unlimited power she will surely give stacks of diamond blocks away to this or that person, etc, toppling the economy.. any suggestions are welcome
I have no experience in setting up or admininstrating a minecraft server but looking forward to learning.
Hey there! This isn't really the right forum to ask this question as it's for advertising server.
As an admin, I'd suggest doing the latest version of Minecraft. It sounds like you should put difficulty on hard and make everyone be in gamemode survival. As far as plugins, you'll want something like luckperms (so you can create roles like "moderator" and assign permissions to it for your daughter, so she doesn't have unlimited power), GriefPrevention, and Lockettepro.
Those three plugins would be great for a small server with kids. Griefprevention allows them to claim land and then they can decide who can play on the land. You can also restrict how much land they're able to claim. Lockettepro helps them lock their chests to keep people from taking things.
I also suggest looking up how to turn mobgrief and firespread off, just because it's a pain to play with creepers exploding your stuff.
Good luck!
