When he returned he found bandits burning down his house and his father's dead body outside the cottage. Henry ran to the body of his father in his last moments and his father uttered with dying breath to find his father's bow that had been passed down through the generations from the fall of Folkvard where it was created. The bow was to be located near the creek by the family homestead. Henry soon retrieved the family bow and lived in the forest wandering away further and further away from the family homestead because going back always seemed to hurt more and more. Henry is not an expert with his bow but has learned how to use it very well. Carved along the handle is the family name Thorn. Now Henry has traversed his way to new lands far away from his home in falkvard.

--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Henry notices the disturbance occurring right in front of him and tries to escape somewhere hoping his speed will help him out in his leaving of the scene. If he is unable to leave he doesn't take a side with either group, he tries to fight his way out if he can but Henry doesn't like to resort to violence as his first option.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
In the ancient tomb Henry stays along the shadows of the walls and keeps watch upon the mound. After a few moments pass by his curiosity starts to eat at him and he starts to move closer and closer to the mound to look for signs of what the noise is coming from. Henry moves close enough to the mound (lets pretend its an elemental or something I guess?) and notices it is hurt and he tries to help it if he can

Sorry for the lengthy wait, I've recently just come off of break and have otherwise been distracted due to isolation.
Your application is...
Denied!
There are a lot of errors with your application, so I will get straight into it. To start, Character Description is about how they look, not their personality, and you've sort of tried to flesh it out with his personality which you could have written in the very bare Character Personality section. I suggest you go back, include more in his character description (like his hair color, describe what he wears, extra details about his face and posture, etc.) and then write a paragraph in his personality section, which is far too short (it needs to be a paragraph at least, so about 3 or 4 full sentences).
Secondly, his character app is too short and does not mention the huge Pact War that happened. Character applications need to be at least 3 paragraphs long, but yours is a single paragraph. You could flesh it out by telling us how his parents survived the Pact War and how their experiences impacted his upbringing growing up. The plagues did not happen until 9 years ago ICly - he would have been 7 years old roughly, which is 7 years of life you could detail and go into. Living in a cottage is still dangerous even these days but not impossible so it would depend on where the cottage is, too.
Finally, characters cannot start with custom items. You would start with a starter pack but it would be nothing from your backstory, so you wouldn't start with a good bow that was passed down through the generations, just a flimsy average bow. Nor would he start with any weapons or armor in general that isn't in the starter pack. Please edit this.
Don't be discouraged by a denial, this just means there is major room for edits. If you choose to edit again, ping me once it is done!

Character name: Syrul Vilyn Race: Dark Elf Age: 53 Gender: Male
Character Description: Syrul stands at a solid 5'9. He carries the typical attributes of a Dark Elf, sharp red eyes, dark gray skin, with a thin shaving of facial hair on his chin. What’s less typical for this Dark Elf though is his dark gray hair, bordering on the edge of black. Across his back, chest, and upper arms are tattoos in typical Dark Elf ornamental style. His body is relatively muscular, implying a history of labour. On his face he sports a scar on his right cheek, to anyone with a trained eye it’s clearly not from a blade. He wears knee length robes with leather padding on his arms, and a leather padded jacket over his blue robes that are adorned with darker symbols. His boots are a dark hardened leather that stretch just under his knees. Around his waist hangs a belt, with leather straps hanging from it and a satchel, fit to attach blade sheathes.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Mercenary, Bounty Hunter. His few years of serving in the military made him quite adept at tactical and political analysis as well.
Character Personality/Traits:
Syrul is quite distant to others when it comes to a warm personality, this doesn't mean he dislikes being around others though. He’s rather curt, and likes to get to the point. He knows when he needs help, but won’t always accept it. Only when it’s absolutely neccessary he’ll allow others in his business. In his mindset his personal safety and survival always comes in first, which wouldn't make him a very trustworthy ally for those with the knowledge of this trait. When he's focused on something, he can grow a little blind to others or situations.
Character Biography:
Syrul was born into a family that was particularly against joining the pact wars, but like other families were forced into it. The first few sieges the family held their loyalty, but as the Elders were slain in battle, the younger generation disbanded the war, and were exiled from their home. Syrul's parents, while at first not particularly skilled in surviving outside of their city, managed to make way in the wilds and eventually thrived there, which resulted in the birth of him.
His childhood was relatively normal, he learned the way of the blade and survival from his parents, travelling and wandering around. While they no longer considered themselves a part of the Dark Elf high culture, they taught Syrul the typical Dark Elf doctrine, which made him feel slightly superior to other races and half-breeds. His affinity for the blade occasionally drew the attention of local warlords and military guilds, yet only when he was older did he actually accept the work they offered him. Having left his parents behind in his late teenage years, he's unaware of their current location, but safely assumes they have either been killed, or left the known lands entirely, as they spoke about doing so for many years. He never went back to look for them.
He mostly avoided the drama of the larger world for the next couple of years; the plague, encounters with demons. He mostly wandered around working as a mercenary. For a short period he joined with a group of Dark Elves, a real gang of hoodlums, who pushed him into the bounty hunting profession. He stayed with them for just a few months before falling into an argument with the leader of said gang. Right after, a particularly fruitful bounty made him join another group of radicals that consisted of multiple races, mostly elves and humans. Despite their racial disagreements, the group worked together splendidly to take out a local Warlord, which turned out in Syrul switching sides at the end and serving the Warlord, hunting down the radicals and serving as an advisor to his court for a number of years. The political mess that ensued soon made him make his escape without leaving much of a positive legacy in the region, specifically with the Elves, who counted on his allegiance to take out said warlord.
Having no particular goal other than escape, he made his way to the known lands of Saphriel once more to survive and thrive as his parents once taught him.
Other/Extra: Not sure if this counts as a note, but I'm fairly certain I've played on this server before, even if it was just like a day. Since I can't check my old MCForums account, I just made a new app since it's been years. also I tried to keep the backstory short and simple intentionally. If a more detailed story is required, let me know.

A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?:
Syrul would attempt to make his way out from between the riot as soon as he possibly could if he has nothing to do with it. However, if he sees he can gain something out of it, he'd weigh his chances between the two sides and try to get the best out of it.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do? Should he have ventured into this tomb alone for whatever reason, he'd surely be smart enough to avoid the mound, completely unsure of what it actually is. Perhaps do some investigation in the area wether or not there's clues around to find what's actually in the mound.

Character name: Skrimp Ka’nur
Race: Goblin
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Character Description: Standing at a proud 4ft, this hairless goblin is fairly average among his kind. Rough skin, green eyes and a pair of teeth protruding from his mouth. With a bit of observation, anyone could tell Skrimp has seen his share of labour. Although he is not completely covered over, most of his clothing are a series of straps and bindings, designed for attaching items of wide variety on. Looking past the straps he wears protective leather wraps around his feet and arms and a short black cloak over his shoulders, typical apparel for those who live under the blazing sun of the eastern desert. On his head is a pair of goggles designed to protect the wearer from sand picked up by the wind.
Character Occupation: Skrimp is a skilled tracker, being a forward scout from a young age has given him the essential knowledge on pursuing his target while remaining discreet and hidden away.
Character Personality/Traits: Skrimp has an unhealthy obsession for wealth. Not any form of currency though, he will actively go out of his way to obtain any sort of trinkets that he believes he can get his hands on. He cares little for companionship, but can be quite a social character if the needs arise. Due to his desires for most items shiny, Skrimp can be a valuable asset depending on the offer given.
Character Biography: Skrimp was raised from an early age in the hot deserts of Saphriel. Even when he was young he was working, assisting with general labouring jobs. Skrimp grew up around the war, from an early age he was already helping the orcs prepare to charge out during the attacks on the great Demonic Obelisk. While only being tasked with basic maintenance, he would spend days fixing up gear for the warriors, gradually becoming more envious due to not having anything of his own.
As he grew he was taught many things, how to fight, survive and thrive. It wasn’t long before Skrimps skills were put to the test. Once the plague had started, he had suddenly become a vital part of the fight. Due to having a natural resistance to disease, he was sent out often to scout out the undead forces and various suitable ambushing sites. Until he was old enough to fight, Skrimp learned to use his small frame and nimble body to avoid confrontations and stay out of sight.
After spending so much time out in the wilderness searching, Skrimp became well aware of the various landmarks around him. During the rest of his upbringing he continued with his work tracking enemies and figuring out their paths to guide the fights to favorable locations, until the fighting hit a halt a year ago. This was a good incentive for Skrimp to leave his home, having no reason to stay now that his skills were not needed, he grabbed everything he could claim was his and left without a destination in mind, his only goal was to have impressive items others would be envious of.

A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Skrimp skims through the crowd, using his size to navigate through the growing masses. With everyone packed together and struggling to move around one another, this is a very good opportunity for Skrimp to “find” valuables he likes.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
A big fancy tomb can only mean it is full of great things, I mean look how overgrown it is! No one’s been here for years! I mean sure, I have to take care around the dangers within, but if they haven't seen me by now then they never will!
As you can guess, Skrimp would have been the one to wander into the tomb on his own accord, loot ripe for the taking. He is fully aware of his own abilities and will be ready to run for the exit if he believes something is wrong, and considering it’s something he's never encountered he’d be much more cautious.

Character name: Emiliana
Race: High Elf
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Character Description: Emiliana stands at a modest height of 6'8, but being as she is still on the cusp of adulthood, she will one day stand slightly taller. She carries herself well, and her slender frame complements her strong, elegant posture. Her full lips adorn her face beautifully, a prominent red color that is particularly striking in contrast to her notably pale skin. Her hair, which she mostly wears back in a bun, is so light that it could almost be mistaken for snow, her eyebrows quite a bit darker than any of the rest of her hair. She bears a scar through her left brow, a constant reminder of her childhood. Rather than her eyes matching the color of her hair, as is prevalent in High Elves, Emiliana has very light, almost ghostly looking, blue eyes. While nearly every individual thing about her stands out as beautiful on its own, there is something awkward that exists in her holistic beauty. Her toned arms and body a result of both her race and her active lifestyle, having some training with her father.
(At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s physical appearance, including height, eye color, and skin tone.)
Character Occupation: (Optional) N/A but has artistic(writing, drawing, singing) and political(social skills, lots of ideas)affinities.
(For us to understand your characters starting skill set, your character still will need to contact the Kingdom to purchase any property)
Character Personality/Traits: Generally, when people first meet or interact with Emiliana, it is her bright personality and rather optimistic views, considering all she has lived through in her brief 29 years, that pique interest. Although, how much of this optimism is genuine and how much is forced is a matter that even she herself is not quite sure of. She exudes youth, and despite her outwardly bubbly personality, every day for her is an eternal conflict. She deals with unusual shifts in her mood, energy levels, ability to concentrate, etc. There are days when even the simplest task seems daunting to her. (bipolar disorder, has to deal with manic and depressive episodes) Pairing with her bright personality, she has always desired to form truly meaningful connections but something has always held her back. Emiliana also struggles with her sexuality, as in Elven culture especially, any homosexual behavior or thoughts are more than simply "frowned upon."
At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.)
Character Biography: When Emiliana was born, her mother bled and her bleeding never ceased. The day that her precious life began, her mother's ended. Rather than her mother's death creating a divide in the relationships between her and her father and sister, it brought them closer together than they ever would have been had the outcome been different. Her father, a High Elf named Katager, valued his daughters above all else. Whether he was a good man or not could have been argued, but he was unrivaled as a parent. Growing up in Barkamsted meant she was always around plenty of different peoples. It was here that she first ever experienced an attraction, of the romantic kind, with another girl around her age. It was never something she acted on, as she knows what people would think, what they would say and do. Especially as an Elf. It only added more turmoil inside her mind that was already often at odds with itself.
Emiliana was spoiled and sheltered, about as much as anyone could be during times of war, plague, and death. She mostly did whatever she pleased, from playing outside with others her age, to staying in the house and not leaving her bed on the days where she was not kind to herself. She has always enjoyed writing and drawing while growing up, both activities in which she continues to do. She grew up with very little responsibility. While very outgoing and kindhearted, Emiliana has always struggled to grow truly close to anyone outside of her father, despite craving and desiring to only second to her desire to be like her mother. When the plague came, it took Emiliana's only friend and his entire family with him. Luckily, Emiliana and her sister were quarantined safely and came out of the ordeal physically unharmed. Already struggling with her mental health from a very young age, losing the one person she felt was there for her crushed her. When her father left for war, she was the most alone she had ever been. Despite her sister's presence, Emiliana had no one. Elenwen was always somewhat jealous of her magical ability, and it festered in the time that their father was absent.
When the war finally ended, and their father returned home having managed to survive solely motivated by the idea of being there for his daughters, always, things were different. Emiliana endured seemingly endless abuse in all variations from her sister. The scar in her brow is a result of this abuse. Emiliana's mood swings were worse than they had ever been, and Katager knew not how to help her. Emiliana's father spent plenty of time with her when he returned, only this time, instead of telling stories as she sat on his lap, they trained. They ran together and practiced very basic swordplay for a time, and Emiliana found comfort in this because she was tired of feeling like a victim beneath her sister. Katager, despite the wonderful father he was, was oblivious to the inner workings of Emiliana and Elenwen's relationship. Despite the quality time spent with her father, Emiliana was ready to move on. She was seeking deep personal connections, a life to call her own, and ways to cope with the internal conflict her mind continuously faces.

A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Emiliana, far from being a confrontational person, let alone a fighter, feels overwhelmed. Using the somewhat fit body that she does have, she makes slight attempts to push through the crowd, but is far from strong enough to make any headway. She prays to Kinos that the guards take care of things before anyone, including herself, is seriously injured.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
While Emiliana, curious and the thinker that she is, intended to learn whatever she could from visiting this otherwise quiet tomb, the potential threat is too much and instantly causes her to return to where she had been walking from. She would head out and find someone to hire to guide and protect her the rest of the way, until she finds what she is looking for.
--Magic Application--
(Optional, this form must be filled out if you want your character to have magic at all.)
Magic Biography:
It was years before Emiliana learned anything about her mother. Her father always told her how much she reminded him of her. Not only did she take after her mother physically, maturing into that same beauty her mother possessed, but Katager always talked about how he could see that same "spark" that he saw in Emiliana's eyes in her mother's. It is something that her sister, Elenwen, was missing. Emiliana's mother was aspected in both lightning and holy magic, and while she was no master of the arcane arts, she, much like 80% of the High Elves possessed an innate ability to use magic. Emiliana falls into this same majority, being like most of the rest of her kind. Katager, her father, was the same. Only, he was aspected in fire, telekinesis, and illusion. He lied to her about this for all of her childhood, leading her to believe her father was without any aspects. Emiliana stands apart from her parents in the fact that she is able to use 4 aspects(this is unknown to her currently. she knows she is aspected to holy and lightning magic like her mother is, but beyond that is unaware.).
Having never known her mother, Emiliana grew up clinging on to stories about her strong, proud mother. She remembers vividly, nights where she would climb up into her father's lap as she listened to him gush over her beautiful mother and told tales about her and her pretty necklace and her sparking fingertips. Katager held on tightly to that necklace, despite his inability to use it. Even without ever having been in her life, Emiliana's mother was her hero. She spent much of her time sketching and writing, painting her out to be some out of this world phenomenon, when in reality, her mother never possessed a trinket powerful enough to showcase any real, impressive magical abilities.
One day, when Emiliana was still quite young, her father left the trinket out in their home, and when she saw it, she knew immediately what she was looking at. She picked it up, closed her eyes, and thought back on all the stories about her mother's sparking fingertips. Her sister approached her, while her eyes were still closed, and reached for the necklace. The small, hardly noticeable static shock that resulted was Emiliana's first ever use of magic, and knowing it was there, within her, just like it was in her mother brought her a level of joy unmatched. She left the necklace alone after that, and after her father returned home she never saw her mother's trinket again. She has aspirations to one day be a student within the Mage's Guild, as her desire to be close to her mother in any way burns strong.
(At least three paragraphs about your character's relationship to magic, and how they may discover their potential.)
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words: While anyone capable of using magic is born with that capability, it means nothing if they are not in possession of a trinket. These magical artifacts vary in strength and aspect. A user of magic would both need to be aspected to lightning, and need to possess a strong trinket aspected to lightning in order to channel magic through and cast a constant stream of electricity, for example. The amount of aspects a magic user can have is dependent upon their race. For example, high elves, such as Emiliana, can be aspected in a maximum of 4 types of magic.
If a magic user wants to cast magic in something they are not aspected in, their ability to use that magic and strength of said magic will be significantly limited, only ever being able to reach up to medium level. Also, attempting to use magic more powerful than the trinket possessed will likely result in the destruction of the trinket. A magic user also must train similarly to an athlete, and build the "muscle" that is their pool for using magic. If they overcast, they can face many consequences such as severe fatigue, comas, death, etc. Magic also requires concentration. I personally think Emiliana will be an interesting user of magic because of how her different bipolar episodes can affect things like her ability to concentrate among other things.
(Two Paragraphs, please mention how one would cast, the limitations to casting and specific races, and the consequences of overuse)
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
Emiliana, nervous and yet not showing it in the slightest, fidgeted with the ring around her finger. As the charming boy leaned in to kiss her, she channeled a bit of magic through her weak trinket, up into her lips, and when hers touched with his, a small shock was released. Pulling away, unable to help the grin spreading across her face, Emiliana whispers, "I told you there'd be sparks."
(Try to be creative, while acknowledging its limitations and utility uses)
-Please note that some aspects are set when a character is born, while others are up to practice. The number of aspects you have is limited by your character's race, but they may have less than the max should you so choose, but they will not be able to regain that lost aspect naturally-
Hello, thanks for applying and thank you for your patience! Although this is a strong start, the app is unfortunately
Pending
First off, the app at is core is quite good. Being a dark elf, there is definitely a specific culture that they enjoy to uphold, and it seems your dark elf will fit in just fine with the few that we have. However, there are some minor changes I'd like to see before he's ready to join! Most easily fixed are a couple of spelling errors throughout; while not huge, fixing them is a matter of attentiveness to detail, which is something we really focus on here. I'd also like to see some more details on what happens to Syrul's parents. When he left home, did they stay in the wilds? Perhaps they moved to Barkamsted and were cut down by the Ca'liar during their invasion?
Also, a small comment on your backstory, Elves and Orcs work together like hot oil and water. So for them to band together at all, especially so close still to the end of the pact war, would take nothing short of an incredibly serious threat, something world-ending.
Otherwise, the app is quite good! Please ping the thread once you've updated, and I'll review it then as well!

Age: 25
Gender: male
Character Description:
A light skinned man with blue eyes and brown hair. Average height for a human. He wears a white shirt with an orange tunic over it and a plumed hat. He's thin although a bit muscular due to his days spend in the woods chopping trees and hunting.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Hunter/poacher
Character Personality/Traits:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.)
His personality is greatly influenced by his family. Having the same passion for hunting as his father had and the same fondness for booze as his uncle. The drinking became especially worse after his village had caught the plague, feeling guilty for not being able to help them when they were in need. Days of hunting have taught him to be cautious and avoid fights that he can't win. He will however face harsh fights if it means protecting someone he cares about, not wanting to have a repetition of what happened back home.
Character Biography:
(At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences, you must reference server lore)
His father was a simple huntsman in a small farming village near Falkvard and his uncle, a drunk and a merchant in Falkvard. His family came from Barkamsted, his father having served as an archer in the wars. In 79 they decided to settle into a small farming village near Falkvard, hoping that there would finally be peace, but that hope had been proven to be foolish.
2 years had passed with only few troubles in between. Lothair was learning archery and basic hunting skills like skinning and making traps from his father. His uncle had visited and then it happened. The plague had arrived. He secretly poached occasionally to earn some extra coin and was gone when it happened, but when he returned people had gotten sick. He was told to stay away to avoid it and so he lived in the woods, visiting every day to check in on them until people started dying and turning into zombies.
Unable to find anyone who was saved from the plague he traveled west, hoping to find safety again in Barkamsted. There he found work on a farm and was lucky to have avoided the curse. Having no more family left and feeling guilty about what happened he turned to drinking until the aceadia war. Having joined the mercenaries and diplomats as a beginning archer in hope of finding purpose. Afterwards he returned to Barkamsted, hoping he could start over again as a huntsman.

- As he looks around him seeing the chaos unfold and realises what is happening, he quickly looks for the nearest exit, trying to avoid having to deal with this conflict. When he's about to dash through the crowd towards the exit the realisation hits him: 'Crap, I saw *Insert some friends name idk* a few hours back, they might be in this mess too!'. Looking at the exit for a few seconds hesitantly, he decides to move through the crowd in search of his friend/friends, hoping that they are safe.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
- As he spots the shambling mound, he pauses for a bit, readying his bow and slowly moving back, hoping that whatever that mound is, didn't hear him and stays there. As he walks back he trips over some of the foliage that stuck out of the wall. As he falls to the ground and drops his bow he looks in fear at the mound which has moved closer, quickly standing up and grabbing his bow again carefully aiming at it.
Thread has been edited, all additions to the backstory have been marked in red. I fixed spelling errors wherever I found them, if there's any I missed, please let me know.
It's quite nice to see another goblin character coming about! There's only a few things with his backstory and the timeline of events that require some clarification.
It is mentioned that Skrimp grew around the war, which leads me to ask if you are referring to the Pact War. Should Skrimp be only 17, he would have actually just missed the end of the war between the Pact and the Alliance by a year. At this period the conflict would have since met a sort of conclusion with the Obelisk destroyed. Most of Skrimp's experience with this time would have simply been the aftermath and the prejudice that remained among the races, or perhaps a few remnant demons that took refuge in the mesa domain.
Besides this comes the matter of Skrimp's experience with the plague. The main question is: Had Skrimp ever moved on from the mesas to live within Barkamsted or Falkvard? Did his family or kinsmen ever come to the decision that they could thrive among the western cultures? It is only mentioned in the last portion of the biography that he decided to leave his home, but does this mean the desert or merely his family? Had he or those he was related to chose in favor of remaining separate from the Alliance races, it is unlikely he would have left the deserts during this time to see the full frontal force of the outbreak that spread through the major cities, most namely Barkamsted. If he did at whatever point move to the cities, I would like to see how that transition came about. Describing how he found his place within Barkamsted/Falkvard, what sort of people he met, or who he reported to as a scout against the masses of undead would all be beneficial to bringing out more of Skrimp's backstory.
Alternatively you could scrap out the portion with the plague if Skrimp would have still lived in the mesas at that time. I see you make mention of 'the fighting halting a year ago' though it's a bit vague which conflict this pertains to. If you are referring to the internal campaign between the tribes of orcs, it would be best to clarify that. If you go with this option then I would only ask what sort of role did he play during all of it? What impact did it make to him and his ideals? More information in summary can be found in the site's general lore near its very end, specifically here--
Year 88 of The New Era
It would not be long before further war plagued the people of Saphriel. With the unexpected death of Chieftain Oomjor, a leader among the Orcs desiring further ties with western, Alliance races, a power struggle erupted that grew into an all-out war between those that sought ever-closer union, and those who wished for the mesas to remain independent of western interference, and then those who sought to begin the Pact War anew. The latter was a particular threat, aided as they were by the distant remaining Cult in undead men, monsters, and resources. While much fighting happened on the part of the Orcs, it fell to the Knights Order to aid the remnants of Oomjor's tribe, battered by the war and a new brutal leader who ruled for power alone.
After much fighting, they were victorious; the Cult once more pushed back, ties between some Orcish tribes and the Kingdom have, at least in theory, grown closer since. Yet even after the war, those Orcs that embrace change from the West are ultimately a minority; many Orcs remain that would prefer separation from Western ways, if not another war. Back in the west, the prejudices against the Pact races remain in the cities, the genocide of the Pact War understandably far from forgotten There remain some in both the East and the West who strive for mutual understanding to advance the Mesa and the Kingdom. Whether their efforts succeed, only time shall tell.
For reference, it is also year 90 of the New Era. Just bump this thread once you've made the edits! Feel free to message me if you have any other questions as well. ^^
You'll be whitelisted shortly, and again thank you for the patience! I did have one thing I wanted to mention, High Elves are immune to all natural sicknesses, and so a natural 'plague' wouldn't be too much of a worry for them. However, the app looks wonderful and I can't wait to see you around! In the meantime, please feel free to check out this post on the Enjin forums regarding common RP hotspots, if you haven't already!

I quite like your RP examples especially. They portray the character well and his approach to troubling situations, where his priorities lie, so forth. All seems in order and I am pleased to welcome you to the forum. Please refer to this post as you enter, as well as this one.

--IC Information—
Character name: Michael Kelris
Race: Human
Age:29
Gender: Male
Character Description:
Around 5’6’’ in height, with light skin and green eyes. Michael looks rather young with brown stubble growing on his face. His brown hair falls just below his ears, and is unkempt and messy. He has a single small birth mark on his upper right arm, and tends to have a light grin on his face. He typically has a lazy and laid back posture, and wears a basic cloth shirt and pants, with some leather shoulderpads on him.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Michael was taught carpentry by his father and is a decent carpenter by trade, along with knowing some very basic hunting and basic swordfighting from his travelling.
Character Personality/Traits:
Michael Kelris is a very curious and freespirited individual, and used to living as a wanderer/hunter. So he is usually less then polite/proper, especially for a member of the lower class. He still does his best to avoid trouble or danger, though he will fight if forced. He's usually kindhearted and willing to share. He often looks happy or carries a grin or smirk on his face
Character Biography:
Michael Kelris was born in Falkvard in year 61 of the new era, to a lower class couple, with his father being a carpenter and his mother a herbalist. Being raised by them into his early teenage years, He was taught in carpentry by his father, as his apprentice, and would often attempt to slip away to be with his friends, at his fathers chagrin. He would still be taught his fathers trade into his teenage years, where he often worked with his father on jobs, and when he did not work, he was either with his friends, attempting to cast spells, or watching people leave and enter the city through the gates. he was always fascinated with magic, knowledge. and the outside world. He did have a few childhood friends, which he often played with, pretend sword-fighting, and climbing trees. but he spent much of his time attempting to use magic, to no avail. When the demon gates came his family hunkered down in the relative safety of their home during that siege. During the pact wars times were hard, as they lived in the refugee camp of Barkamsted, doing every job they could to stay alive. Barkamsted is where his parents originally met, and became a couple at. When Falkvard was eventually retaken, the two of them moved there, his father hoping to have plenty of work as a carpenter in the ruined capital city.
Eventually, at the age of 20 he left his home. To wander and discover new things. Wandering for a few years, he commonly kept company with Hunters and other travelers, eventually coming to worship Perities. He would sometimes take on small jobs in carpentry or other basic things as he traveled, in exchange for a small amount of money to live off of. He would also do everything in his power to get any knowledge of magic, along with every attempt to find a minor trinket of his own, he has picked up several skills and tricks typical of a wanderer, along with the habits of one. While traveling during the plague he mostly avoided towns, trying to survive off hunting and scavenging, he'd often set up camp in forests, or wherever he could that was safe during this time, having managed to scrounge up enough funds shortly before the plague, he had a bow and some arrows, along with a dagger. Which he used for hunting and protection, though he was not entirely proficient at first, and spent time whenever he reasonably could practicing with the dagger or bow. He did have brief moments of contact, when running into hunters, or other traveler's, and while he kept his distance, sometimes they would trade items they needed between each other.
He would eventually decide to return to Falkvard after 9 years, and begin the trek back to Falkvard near the end of year 87 of the new era. He is getting closer to Falkvard now, in year 90 of the new era, and while he doesn't quite know if he'll stay there or not, he at least intends to see it. At present he is enjoying the relative peace in the lands.
--Scenarios—
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Michael would first focus on getting out of the crowd, as he does his best to navigate safely through it. Getting rough if need be, pushing people out of his way as he moves to find a safe place within Barkamsted until things calm down. He would fight if forced to, and would not shy away from killing if he had no other choice. He would however simply do his best to survive and find a safe place to stay until the riot ends
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
:Michael would immediately do his best to identify what it was. If he was unable to do this, he would immediately attempt to leave, deciding not to risk his life with the risky creature. He'd move as quietly as he could to do so, while keeping whatever weapons he had on person ready. Upon exiting the tomb he would promptly leave the area.
--Magic Application--
Magic Biography:
Michael has always been incredibly interested in magic, and awed by it, to the point of going out of his way to try and learn more about it, and how to use it, at every possible chance. He's taken every scrap of knowledge he could find, and even gone so far as to pester those capable of magic in attempts to learn about it, trying to find a trinket of his own, so that he could try to use magic himself. It would only be a matter of time until he succeeded, when he found a mentor in a hunter he'd befriended recently, being taught with their trinket in how to cast, and while he could not keep the trinket for himself, he learned what he could from his mentor, before they split paths again shortly before the plague started.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
In order to even be capable of utilizing magic, one must be born with the ability, in order to cast you need a trinket of the specific type of magic. Arcane energy is a small pool at first, that one must train in for many years for a mage to be a master. Using too much and draining the entirety of your reserves can cause minor injury or pain, or even death, it places a physical and mental strain upon you, and may destroy your artifact at best if overused. Some races have more aspects then others, like how High Elves have 4 aspects but Orcs have 1 with some not having any aspects whatsoever, like the Dark-Elves. Magic requires line of sight to cast. If aspected towards a specific type of magic, they can cast above medium level spells.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
I would use a weak fire trinket mainly as a basic utility for very weak fire magic. it wouldn't be capable of harming them or doing much more then providing a momentary distraction for him to escape or run away. I could also use it to light fires or lanterns or extinguish minor flames.
Hello! So good to see a new face let's get started on what needs some fixing shall we!
Firstly, the simple stuff out of the way, it is year 90 of the new era he is 29 which means he was born in the 61st era an easy fix without many changes needed. Though he was not born during the Pact War it is something that would have affected his parents and how he grew up, explain how the Pact War affected his family during those times as well as more on his parents in general. There is little mention of what he did as a kid growing up with them other than learning carpentry from his father, you also mentioned he had a few friends growing up give some insight to what he did with them and other times when he was not working with his father. Secondly, the plague was roughly mentioned and needs to be expanded upon as going into towns at the time was extremely dangerous for the risk of catching it so if he did not go into towns and avoided them where did he stay? Did he make camp in the woods at all times? Make a home of other people's shelters? What did he use to hunt and protect himself with while on his own? I would like to see a bit more of his life expanded upon! That is it for the main backstory itself!
Magic application: Firstly, you will not start out with a trinket of any kind he will not be able to keep any trinket he is given or has found in his background so please find a way to explain how he lost with whether the original owner took it back, it was stolen from him or he lost it in other ways. The magic biography is meant to be used as a backstory to explain in character how he learned about magic how he and his parents viewed it. Trinkets are incredibly rare and hard to get so the chances of him just 'finding' one is not likely if at all it is more acceptable if someone in his family was to teach he with their trinket or he learned from a mentor of some sort, perhaps one of the other hunters he often surrounded himself with. Secondly, you do not need to be aspected in magic to cast with a trinket only be born with the gift/ability to do so along with of course a trinket to cast. Any with the ability may cast up to medium in any magic but can only cast Strong or above if they are aspected. While you mentioned most things needed for magic you did not mention the limits on other races magics, some races have more aspects than others and some do not have the ability to cast magic at all explain a bit more on this. One last thing that was not mentioned that needs to be added, magic requires line of sight to cast add this to the background and all should be well!
Thanks to victory in the recent mesa wars, there has been relative peace between the people of the west and many Orcs of the east. Yet this was not to last. Monstrous beings the likes of which had never been seen before were found to reside in the great Pine Forest to the south, their very existence spreading sickness and death. The Cult, with their ambitions to plunge the realm into chaos, saw a ripe opportunity to utilise them, if they could simply get into the forest. All that stood between their combined forces wreaking havoc on the rest of the world was the the forces of the Knights Order, who went to siege on the Pine Forest's creatures, and the Hunters, who now venture into its depths to eliminate the source...

Character Name: Ko'Shio / Ma'Shio
Race: Ca'Liar (Small Build)
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Character Description:
Ko'Shio tends to wear a lot of clothing, mostly dark things with hoods because he likes to look mysterious. Just a hood isn't enough however, he also wears a white and red Kitsune mask made of wood (Ironwood, at least that's what he tells people.) Underneath his black and red robes and mask is a 5'2 Ca'Liar with grey fur and black stripes. He has long ears that go backwards more so than upwards. Light silver hair hangs over his face. His stripes are a strange mix between that of a powerful Tiger and a ordinary Tabby House-cat. He has a large, bushy tail that extends free from his robes behind him, one of the only ways to tell he is infact a Ca'Liar when he's in his full get-up.
Character Occupation: Self-Claimed Samurai/Wanderer/Warrior/Bounty Hunter/Mercenary, depending on the situation.
Character Personality/Traits:
Ko'Shio thinks very highly of himself. So highly, in fact, he uses the title Ko despite it being very debatable whether or not he was really given it. His true title is Ma'Shio, but he'll never introduce himself as that. Sometimes he won't even use his name at all, introducing himself as "Aka Yokai, the Swift Samurai." While he takes himself quite seriously, he makes it very hard for others to do the same.
Despite all of this, he isn't entirely a liar. He is quite skilled with a blade, but he sees himself far more highly than he really should. This can come crashing down on him pretty easily, as there's a number of things he's quite self-conscious or embarrassed about. One is his small size, but he has more or less convinced himself he's just a small Medium-Build that's still growing.
Character Biography:
Ko'Shio was born the runt of his litter, his brothers & sisters were all Medium Builds while he was a Small. Despite being born first, he was seen as the youngest because of his size. He was left out of more rigorous activities like sports and sparring, and looked down on by the Large Builds. He wanted to be a strong warrior, but he was not from a family of fighters. He was from an ordinary family of Medium & Small builds. His village too was not one of many notable warriors, and what few they had were swiftly taken away by the Empire to fight in the wars or the Yokai. His home was attacked by Yokai many times throughout his life, and each time it seemed to be the same. Everyone would run and hide, waiting for their strong saviors to show up, hopefully while there was something left to save. Ko'Shio saw his father and many of his siblings die at the hands of Yokai, and all he could do was run. It was all a Small-Build seemed to be good for.
He hated having to run away. He hated having to hide and wait for a savior that might not come. He wanted so bad to be that brave warrior that would protect everyone. Anytime he talked about becoming a warrior, it was seen as a joke. They would call him a coward for running away, and place the deaths of his family members on him. He wasn't one of the strong, it would only be a matter of time before he was next. He started resenting the Larger builds and cursing his fate, becoming very rebellious and outcast.
Everything changed for him one day when a group of soldiers came home from a successful battle. Among them was a small build man, much like himself. But no one looked down on him for it, infact he seemed to be held highly among everyone. The man in question was Ta'Shan, the leader of the group and a renowned samurai known for his quickness. He was on the few, perhaps only, notable warriors to come from Ma'Shio's village, so his return was a cause for celebration. Ma'Shio was scared to approach, but he was welcome and even invited by Ta'Shan. Ta'Shan was known for being an extremely friendly and informal man when he got a rare break from the battlefield. The whole town more or less became a party, Ta'Shan and his men given free drinks at the tavern. They allowed Ma'Shio to hang out with them, and he for the first time he actually felt welcome. Ma'Shio approached the drunk samurai, and shyly told he he wanted to be like him. Ta'Shan laughed, but not the kind of laugh Ma'Shio usually got. It was a friendly, joyous laugh, one that invited him to join rather than mocking him. "Oh yeah? Well work hard then, lil' Ko'Shio!" the drunk Ta'Shan commented to him, it was just a playful teasing before the Samurai was dragged away by his drinking buddies. Ma'Shio was stunned, he said Ko'Shio, right? He said it, he might've been drunk and it might've been a joke but he said it. And with that, he ran off, like he had just stolen his new title. He was now Ko'Shio, the honorable warrior. At least in his mind, he was still afraid of actually using it.
But for the next years he'd work hard to make Ta'Shan proud. Even if he wasn't there to see it, he kept training. Even if people made fun of him, he demanded to join their spars. Even if he got beat, he'd believe in himself, for he was Ko'Shio, recognized by the great Ta'Shan. He built up an self-confidence that got eventually quite carried away as he did his best to hold his head high and act how he believed a true Samurai should. But still, people very quickly became tired of his antics and would refuse him any kind of practice. Some would accept only to purposely beat him down enough that he hopefully wouldn't come back. But he was tired of running, he wanted to fight back. Things were tough, he felt like he was all alone in his quest and getting nowhere. Then, like a miracle, he met a woman by the name of S'Kaku. She was a Large Build, and as Ko'Shio quickly learned she was from a family of Shinobi. Apart from that however, the woman was very mysterious.
At least for a little while. She quickly became Ko'Shio's make-shift "Mentor" after he basically refused to let her refuse. She gave him a code-name she used, Aoi Oni, and made him a mask like hers to celebrate the occasion. Following her lead, he gave himself the nickname Aka Yokai. She would spar with him and teach him what she knew, but after a short while it became obvious even to the novice Ko'Shio that... she didn't seem to know all that much. Just some basic throws and techniques, more than him but he was caught up fairly quickly. He confronted her about this, and she told him the truth. Or at the very least another version of it. She wasn't the great Ninja Master he thought her to be. Instead, she was meant to be a trophy wife for her clan to marry into a more powerful family. Ironically, being a Large-Build made her quite bad at sneaking and various agile-ninja activities, so they didn't train her. Instead she was to marry another Large-Build to pass on her genes and gain favor for her family.
She couldn't accept this, so during the trip in which she was meant to meet with them she forged a confirmation letter and fled. She kept low and hidden, having just happened upon Ko'shio's village and decided to stay a while longer than usual. Her real name wasn't S'Kaku, or Ao Oni, but Do'Kakasu.
This lead to a heated argument between who was ungrateful and who had it worse. Ko'Shio believed Do'Kakasu should be grateful for being born with a strong, powerful body into a clan of warriors, even given a chance to join another high-ranking family. Do'Kakasu however, believe Ko'Shio should be grateful that he was born with a quick, agile body and without any heavy expectations on his shoulders. Truly it would've been a philosphical debate for the ages, if they weren't just yelling at each other like children. This lead to a minor falling out between them, and rather than his mentor Ko'Shio now decided Do'Kakasu would be his rival. Amused, she accepted this, and they kept up their spars fairly regularly.
One day, she brought Ko'Shio some bad news. People were looking for her, and they were getting close. She had to flee Einar, to make her final move and leave for Saphriel. It would be tough for her since she didn't know common like Ko'Shio. He of course hid any sign of sadness like a proud warrior should, telling her to go and that he would meet her again someday.
It didn't take long until he followed her to Saphriel, although he had always wanted to go just like Ta'Shan and other great Ca'Liar warriors had. Yeah, she had nothing to do with it, if anything she stole the idea from him. So to new lands he ventured, where he could finally start using his title, no one there would know anyways.
Magic Biography:
One of Ma'Shio's few prides before he reformed himself as Ko'Shio was being born capable of using magic. Being a Ca'Liar, his magic of choice (not that he really had a choice) is obviously Earth. While the others would play fight or spar, he would play with his magic, making little dust devils. He was always a bit embarrassed though, because people around him found it cute and scholarly, which didn't fit with the cool warrior he wanted to be.
Because of this he never really trained it, but once he had reformed himself and learned more of it's combat uses, he was excited to start. First however, he was entirely dedicated to practicing the art of the blade, once he felt he had that mastered (Which surely wouldn't take the great Ko'Shio too long) he would start training his magic as well.
Magic was also one of the few things that he felt he truly had to learn from S'Kaku, even if she were only slightly better she had many good ideas on how to use it. They would practice it minorly, but Ko'Shio was more focused on combat-training. Once their relationship had changed to that of rivalry, these magic-practice sessions became non existent, as it didn't seem very fitting to have a dust-devil duel to decide the superior warrior. Still however, he wished to best her at it, as he did with everything else.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
To cast Magic, you need multiple things:
Bothimir's Gift - Without Bothimir's Gift, a character simply cannot perform magic outside of witchcraft or other outlying methods. A character must be born with Bothimir's Gift, they can't obtain it later in life through any known means.
Training - In order to cast magic, a character has to train with it. Mage Characters can cast magic at Weak level to start and must train using the system over time to obtain stronger magic in their desired aspects.
Trinkets - Aside from a few natural-caster races, characters require Trinkets to cast magic of any kind. To cast a type of magic, you need a Trinket of that aspect. Your Trinket also determines how strong you can cast up to, even if you are a Strong Fire Mage with a Medium Trinket you can only cast up to Medium, and try to cast anything higher could cause the trinket to overload and/or explode.
Aspects - While magic up to Medium level in each aspect is possible, characters have only a few specific Aspects they can train beyond Medium. Their number of Aspects depends on their race. Also, a character cannot cast both Holy and Dark Magic of any kind, they can only be blessed with one of the two.
Drain - Casting takes a toll on the body and mind. Mages can only cast so much depending on their level in the caster aspect. They can cast at their strongest level up to 5 times, their 2nd strongest up to 10, 3rd strongest up to 20 and so on. This doesn't mean they can cast Wondrous 5 times, Powerful 10 times and then Stronger 20 times, the drain carries over meaning that casting their strongest level magic would use up double their 2nd strongest and so on. If they continue to cast after they're drained, they begin Overcasting and requiring rolls that could cause injury or death to them. There are some exceptions to Magic Drain such as Holy Shields costing 1/20th the amount of normal casting and using Holy Magic offensively against non-dark creatures costing double aside from a few specific spells.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
While he would not have much use of a weak trinket, being able to cast up to Medium natural, Ko'Shio would still wear it with pride, and likely parade it as much higher level than it really was, without expressly lying about it. With weak magic however, he would try stomping the ground and making the pebbles around his foot shake, or rise a bit of dust with his steps for added flair. Neither of which would be very effective, but would make him hold his head even higher anyways, and soon he would be even stronger.

Henry started in a home with his mother and father until the plague hit, killing his mother, His father soon turned cold towards his son Henry and left to go find work and told his son he would return. Henry stayed in the cottage for one week until one day he left to collect food from the forest.

Race: Dark Elf
Age: 53
Gender: Male

Define Power-gaming in your own words: Power-gaming is when a player role-plays unrealistically given their character and its skills, talents, abilities, and it makes it not only less enjoyable but also unfair to other players.

Character name: Lothair
Race: Human

First and foremost apologies for the wait. Our whitelist staff has been delayed by real life hurdles with Covid 19 but all the same it should not have taken this long. Your application is

I look forward to seeing your edits!
Just finished editing it now, added changes to magic backstory, backstory, and magic limitations.
Other than very tiny grammatical errors everything seems to be in order!

- Magic -
