In Saphriel, the snow is beginning to thin, the weather warming. The long winter, while not over, appears to be thawing.
Winter has finally ended! Spring fills the air, birds chirp in the trees, and the weather appears to have returned to normal.
An eruption of Grendels, monsters created by the Cult to serve as frontline troops, was recently dealt with at a mountain close to the Knights Order's castle. Though vast in numbers they were without equipment, and thankfully no major casualties were sustained on the Kingdom's side. With this, hopefully a blow has been dealt to the Cult's forces.

(For us to understand your characters starting skill set, your character still will need to contact the Kingdom to purchase any property)
Character Personality/Traits:

As loyal as a military dog as long as one does right by him he'll be one you can trust. He has a calm demeanor about him, learned not to take things personally due to being a half orc.
(At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.)
Character Biography:
Aelwyn’s father was always a naive person thinking things could be different, even though orcs and humans always hated each other he somehow admired them and their strength. One day he saw this orcish girl in the woods who was being tortured by a small group of four soldiers. They were not in full gear anymore now that they got their orc chained up. Aelwin’s father Eadwin didn't like what he was seeing so he decided to take them out and save the girl. They somehow strung her up on what looks like a crucifix. As it turns out it looks like they had their way with her and were in the middle of mutilating her.. He snuck up behind them while they took turns cutting at her arms, with his skills as a hunter he used his bow to get two of soldiers using orcish arrows to scare them. He kept circling them so they wouldn't know where he is. They saw the arrows coming at them and ran off into the city to get some back up. He got her down before the soldiers could come back, she could at least stand and tried attacking him but she was too weak to do anything and took her to his camp where they should be safe. She was against his help for a long time but she grew to like him over time. Aelwin isn't Eadwin’s child by blood but decided to raise him as his own. The stayed in the forests far from Barkamsted is where Aelwin called home. Their family lived in tents and makeshift homes, moving ever so often to stay away from the Pact soldiers.
In the forest he learned how to hunt from his father, who himself was a hunter now retired. being a half orc had its perks; Unlike his father, he was able to use his strength to slice wolves in half in just two good swings. with him learning the basics of hunting he learned how to hide his presence and is quite good with a bow.
Aelwin also learned to blend in with the humans by having himself fully covered from head to toe, since he would get discriminated against for just being a half orc.
Once he became of age he left his fathers side and left to go explore the cities, hoping to better hone his skills by hunting down beasts for coins. They managed to avoid the plague due to living outside of the city, though they did almost get infected by a few wandering carriers.

--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkhamsted between Humans and Pact races.
They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates.
Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
If it begins to get violent I'll pull up my mask to hide my tusks looking around to make sure no one saw me. I look for ways to make my escape. I look up above the food stalls and see a building I can get to. With my agility I climb my way up the stalls and onto the buildings next to it stand above the crowd for sec then book it before anyone sees.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage.
From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something.
It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do? I look up seeing the shambling mound drop down in front of him and it screeches so loud it vibrates this ancient tomb. I begin to run to the side and roll before it can slam its arm down at me.
I grab an arrow that has a rope attached to it and try to get it to hook onto the top of the doorway.
It hits and misses and I try again while also dodging his attacks, I get it to stick onto the wall above the door and I begin to scale the walls to make for my escape but the mound grabs me by its vines pulling me in.
I take my dagger out and cut myself loose and make for my escape leaving all the goodies.

Recent Ca'Liar visitors to Saphriel were, in a strange turn of events, kidnapped by Fae. Several were asked to rescue them, placing the volunteers into surreal adventures involving milk, candy, and other sweet delights. Though nobody was harmed and the Ca'Liar were recovered, it seems the mischief of Fae will never truly come to an end.
A great start to an application! It's obvious you read and understood the lore of the world quite well and the story has good potential. There are a few things I'd like to see fleshed out though before we accept Aelwin onto the server.
1. I'd love to get to know your character's personality more a bit. Though it's slightly vague, we do ask for two complete paragraphs on the character's traits and likewise their appearance. Just a bit more so we can truly get to know them and if they're the right fit for the server!
2. We'd like to see a bit more about the character's backstory too. It's not very clear whether he was the result of his mother's assault or if he is his father's legitimate son. It would be very difficult for soldiers to manage to capture an Orc woman alive during the Pact War, as Orcs are known to fight back hard and this was even moreso the case back then. It's possible, just very unlikely. How did the father manage to scare off this many soldiers, too? It's unlikely he'd be able to defeat professional soldiers like that.
These are just a few pointers as to where you can take the story. If you have any questions please feel free to head over to our Discord and shoot them in #general-inquiries channel! I look forward to seeing your app update and welcoming you on the server proper!

Character name: Xerax
Race: Goblin
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Character Description:
Xerax is 4’10” normally but his hutched figure reduces his height further to around 4’7”. He has a lean face which combined with his bald head and yellow eyes gives him an almost rat like appearance. Xerax usually wears rags which do little to hide the gnarliness of his dark green limbs. His habit of collecting trinkets of value causes him to softly jingle with every step. This combined with his emancipated figure has led some people to jokingly refer to him as a scarecrow or windchime, much to his chagrin.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Henchman for hire: Xerax is a henchmen without a boss. After the death of his old boss, he now searches for a new one to serve. His old job makes him good at not taking the spotlight and instead serving to help his master excel in whatever he or she wants to do. This includes cooking, cleaning and the odd job of guarding a hallway or gathering information.
Character Personality/Traits:
Xerax is a servile cowardly being. The only thing that matches his cowardness is his slavish loyalty to his current boss. He is though capable of autonomy though and has been known to creatively reinterpret orders if he believes his boss is making a mistake that would harm him or her in the long term. As someone who believes strictly in hierarchy, Xerax has developed a bit of a sadistic personality to those who he considers beneath him. He can easily suck up to his boss in one breath and insult and deride those beneath him in another.
Character Biography:
Xerax was born to uncertain parents after the fall of Thonduhm to the Alliance. His earliest memories was him serving under the leader of his refugee group as menial labor. His job was to be in essence a camp follower. He has to prepare the meals, change bandages, gather firewood, wash the clothes, etc. Eventually with the demon invasion dealt with while he was very young, his caravan settled down in Barkamsted in the slums district. Any thought of independence was quickly beaten out of him by his boss and so he served dutifully for years. His servitude to his boss lasted until the Aceadia War when his master died to the Ca'Liar when they sacked the city. Xerax for his part, spent the sack hiding in a barrel.
For the first time in his life, Xerax had no one to tell him what to do. He ended up drifting through the Barkamsted slums as a seasonal worker until he caught the eye of a more open minded shopkeeper in need of an assistant as his business got busier and he got older. Xerax was understandably pleased to have someone tell him what to do again and it was under his new master that he learned how to read and write and unlike his old master, the shopkeeper, while never close, was much more amiable to him. During this time, Xerax improved his service skills, now being able to quickly finish his daily chores so he can help his master in his day to day needs. All good things must come to an end though and his master eventually died of old age. Xerax was left with part of his inheritance but the shopkeeper’s relatives used Pact race prejudice to swindle most of it out from under Xerax. This left him poor and without a master once more.
Xerax once again is back to working seasonal jobs in the rundone slums. He has increasingly grown dissatisfied though with his current station in life as he feels that he serves his previous masters with distinction and yet has not been rewarded for his hard work at all. He searches for a new master once more but this time he will not be denied his happy ending, no matter what the cost may be.

A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Xerax would join in the riot. He has seen his fair share of prejudice and like his peers eventually that anger boils up into a rage. Xerax is a coward, so what better time to let out his steam then in the middle of a riot? He takes his chance to smash stalls and loot buildings before dispersing once the guards begin to take control of the situation.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
If his master sends him to this ancient tomb, it must be important. Xerax is a coward and so naturally as a coward as soon as he notices the mound he would freeze up in fear. After a few moments to recover his wits, he would try to hide and allow the mound to pass by him. Failing that, he would make up an excuse to his master why he could not reach the end of the tomb and leave. He may be loyal but he isn’t stupid. Whatever that thing is could probably gut him without a second thought.
Hello, welcome! After a read through your application, it is

I really enjoy the character you've made, and your goblin is especially goblin-like, which is very well appreciated! You'll be whitelisted soon, in the meantime, please check out some of these resources to help you get started!
Recently there was an large infestation of rats around farms and fields in Barkamsted, warranting farmers calling for outside aid. While the rats were cleared, fears linger that the vast number of rodents could have spread plague among the city's residents. Only time shall tell if these worries are true.
Unfortunately we've had to delay our usual biweekly event due to unforseen circumstances. There is to be the harvest festival next week and an auction the week after, however, so look forward to plenty of fun things to do in Saphriel in the future!
Prior Roleplay Experience: I'm relatively new when it comes to roleplay, but I have a little under a year in total of various minecraft RP servers (Tale of Banners, FantasyRP by RPH, and another one that has rebranded and I don't remember the name). I have never RP'D outside of video games.
Define Power-gaming in your own words - To me, power gaming is the act of overtly or subtly influencing and controlling another player's game experience. This can be done by the way you write, or directly trying to change the organic flow of the encounter.
Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Meta gaming is using information gathered by OOC sources in game. For example, never meeting a character but knowing something of their past from things spoken in discord and bringing that up IC.
Define Role-Playing in your own words: Roleplaying is something that allows me to step out of real life and create a fantasy experience. I love reading fantasy and sci-fi stories, but they all (obviously) have linear plots. Roleplay allows me to put myself in a world unlike my own, and to experience another life very different from the one I live. I'm not myself, I'm another person with their own motivations and goals and it's a very unique organic experience.

Character name: Hinri Verner
Race: Human
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Character Description: Hinri is a young man who is very physically unimposing. Roughly 5 foot 9 inches tall, with shaggy brown hair and an unkempt beard. He is lanky, and of average strength. Hinri has brown eyes, which contrast his somewhat pale skin. He has always been clumsy with tools, having to work extra hard whenever there was labor needing to be done, athletics were never something he was good at. He is a respectably fast runner over longer distances though.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Hinri worked briefly with his father's small trading company delegating trade deals as his father's father did before him. When Hinri's mother got sick they were forced to close the business. Now, he is looking to find work doing odd jobs until he can afford to begin his own path following the only occupation he knows.
Character Personality/Traits:
Hinri is a very flawed individual, caused by his trauma. He is best described as "morally grey." He is a determined young man with a natural talent for business that needs to just simply be nurtured. He has always been clever and smart. He also is kind, and respectful when needed but can be a sarcastic jerk just as easily. However his only loyalties lie to his own ambitions and those that can help him further himself. Hinri can make friends easily with his charm and wit, but they have never been more than superficial to obtain his goals. He can come off extremely arrogant and selfish. Hinri does possess the ability to acknowledge things that are right and wrong. Although he has this knowledge, he is not afraid to make the wrong choice, but it does pain him to do so.
Character Biography:
Hinri Verner was born shortly after a time of great destruction and uncertainty. The son of a merchant turned volunteer soldier and a researcher's assistant, he was never shielded from the harsh reality that he just barely missed out on. His father was born to a line of merchants, who owned and operated a small company that provided Barkamsted with a variety of goods. While war ravaged, the Verners maintained their relative safety inside the stronghold of man, until Tolman Verner (Hinri's father) decided to volunteer to become a soldier because of some sort of arrogance only a young man can relate to. In the reclaiming of Falkvard, the senior Verner lost an eye and nearly his life from infection which left him cynical and hateful not to mention permanently scarred. He returned home to Barkamsted where he and his wife fell into domestic life once more and began maintaining the business again. A few years later, after surviving the distant threat of unholy armies, Alice Verner found out she was pregnant with a son, whom they would call Hinri.
Alice Verner, being a local scholar herself, took the burden of raising and educating her son. They were never blessed with more children, so she could solely focus on her son. As he grew it became quickly apparent Hinri was a swift learner. He picked up reading, and writing which led to him moving on to working with numbers. They were never a largely religious family, but Alice taught her son about Udero, and the balance he provided the universe. It was obvious Hinri was different than other children, he didn't enjoy playing ball or spending the days competing with his peers. Instead, he would dedicate his time to his studies. His level of education never grew further than what Alice could bring home from work, or Hinri could find in the library, they were only merchants and could not have a higher formal education. Hinri only had one friend throughout his childhood, a boy by the name of Danovan. Dano and Hinri would sit inside and talk about things only seven year old boys knew. When the plague struck Danovan's parents were taken quickly by the disease, leaving the young boy by himself. Dano was forced into a quarantine, due to his exposure. He stayed in the quarantine until the very last of the plague was cleared up. He was sent to live with an aunt he had barely met across the town. A year later (with the boys being about the age of 9) Hinri saw Danovan. He approached his childhood buddy and carefully introduced himself. Danovan had no recollection of their friendship. The plague had taken some of his memories, and he could not recalll ever knowing a Hinri, and had zero desire to ever know one. Hinri was crushed, and from then on the boy kept very few friends, opting instead to fall in love with characters in his books, or focus on his studies.
By the age of 16 Hinri was working with his father. He spent his days keeping the accounts, and negotiating deals. His evenings were spent learning the basics of the Elvish language to help with some of his dealings, or reading up on whatever he could find. After many mistakes, and more learning opportunities than he could count, he considered himself an adequate trader. Tolman was a harsh teacher, resorting to beatings and violent arguments to get his points across. Many customers avoided the aging Verner and chose instead to work with Hinri, when they didn't switch companies altogether. The plague had hurt the economy extensively, the once lavish life they had lived was but a distant memory. Between Tolman's anger, and the prices of their goods business began to decline. After years of being around his father's abuse, and lack of care for his failing company, Hinri became very resentful towards Tolman.
When Hinri was freshly 19, his mother became extremely sick. Barkamsted was impossible to traverse safely with the winter winds bearing down. Healers were unable to move Alice to a better place for treatment without risking her catching frost bite or dying outright. His ailing mother begged him to take care of his father. Just weeks after diagnosis, his mother passed on in horrific fits that left Hinri permanently traumatized, and with a permanent bitterness for the cold. Although she was gone, he promised he would take care of Tolman, and the one thing of Hinri that could always be counted on was his word. He took care of his father, as he began a downward spiral of alcoholism. They were forced to close the trading company, which was barely making a profit. Hinri paid their debtors using the sale of the company and had barely enough leftover to buy food for that week let alone extra clothes and firewood. He began begging, and working odd jobs to make ends meet. He was determined to pave a future for himself while his father drank himself to death. Nine months after his mother's demise, Tolman and Hinri got into another bitter fight. His father had been using firewood desperately needed to help them survive the frost, and Hinri raised his voice in anger. Tolman claimed he was too cold, and refused to take the disrespect of his son. He had a small skinning knife he reached for, and came at his own flesh and blood. He was stronger and more experienced than Hinri, but drunkenness and age are severe limiting factors. In self defense, Hinri pushed his father away where he tripped. He fell and cracked his head on the edge of the table in the center of their home. With his loving mother dead, and the accidental slaying of his father, Hinri needed to get away from what he knew. He gathered everything he owned of value and sold it to earn voyage on a ship that knew how to traverse through the frozen waters to Falkvard.
Arriving fresh in a brand new place, with no one who knows him and zero silver to his name. He is determined to become the person his worthless father should have been, and who his mother would be proud of. He will do whatever it takes, while hopefully making a life of his own. Despite everything against him, he cannot return home before elevating his status where he believes he belongs.
Other/Extra: (Images, notes, etc.)
One thing I want to add is that I didn't read any other applications or player backgrounds, so I do not know how light or dark to make a character. I am more than willing to adjust his story accordingly. I also apologize for the sheer length of the biography, I got very invested in this character as I was planning him out.
--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Hinri is the last person you want wrapped up in a dangerous crowd, and he knows it. He is not against any of the pact races but he will never take an active role in a riot to speak up for them. He would use his small stature to slip and slide through the crowd the best he could, trying to find a way out. If he could find a way out he will get as far away as possible, and if anyone asks why he didn't try to deescalate the situation or save someone, he will cleverly make up an excuse for why he was unable to fight. If he wasn't able to escape, he would stay as far away from the front lines as possible, and cowardly shove others toward the action, awaiting help from the guard.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Hinri is not one to gamble with his life. He has more important things to do than attempting to fight an ancient beast over some artifact he could just buy at wholesale. Briefly he would curse, and either let loose some of his bladder, or lose the fine lunch he prepared himself. Then he would retrace his steps as quickly as possible, while lighting branches behind him on fire with the torch he cleverly brought along and tossing them across the path behind him. He may not be strong enough to win a fight, but he will try to outrun the beast while the flames protect him. Hinri is a coward, but a quick-witted one at that.
An excellent application so far, really fitting of the server! There are a few things that Hinri would have likely experienced living in Barkamsted. The Plague hit the city very hard, and many people died while many others suffered from memory loss caused by its curse. You can read about the specifics of the Plague in our General Lore
The Avalti also immigrated in large numbers into Barkamsted a few years after, so that could be something to bring up too, but the Plague is the one thing he would have unfortunately experienced first-hand, even if he was just a child at the time. He likely would have grown up and had his formative years in the immediate aftermath.
One other thing, much more recent, was the year-long winter which saw even Barkamsted freeze over.
Those are only very tiny and small details. As I said this is a really good application and with these small adjustments I really look forward to seeing you on the server!
Awesome thank you for the kind words. I adjusted his story slightly, keeping the base but changing the few details you mentioned. I hope this is adequate and if you require more of his experience with these events I will be happy to elaborate. I also ommitted any encounters with the Avalti because at the time of their immigration the trading company would be in decline, and there would be very few new customers coming in to make deals. With Hinri's self induced sheltered life style he would almost never run into these folks, let alone initiate conversation.
And with these changes I'm happy to say that your application is...
Accepted!
Really looking forward to seeing your character on the server! Before we can give you your starter items and balance you will need to log in for the first time.

Rot's history is very clear, he was born just like any other person and was early on his life taught the ways of the Vikings, as the Vikings told many stories he had heard all about the The Great War and was fascinated by it, sure some parts of it made him scared but when he grew a bit older he had learned that fighting was what he loved, ever since his 19th birthday he had dreamed of being a part of that war. Because of this many saw him as strange but he was still highly respected by most Vikings and his friends because of his superiority in fighting.

Because of Rot's nature and what he was taught he likes to raid, a small riot wouldn't seem so interesting for Rot and he mainly wouldn't care sitting somewhere looking at the pathetic fight, if the fight did escalate however and he saw his fellow human comrades die he would most definitely join in on the fight to assure that no more of his brothers would die in something like a riot.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do? Rot would be disgusted by the walls and from the sound he would probably go to investigate further, he would pull out his axe just too make sure that he would be ready for anything that he might encounter next.

Character Personality/Traits:
He's a quiet guy who's quite meticulous when doing a job, likes to follow the rules. tends to have a bad habit of popping his knuckles frequently.

Saphriel is still experiencing the summer season.
Recently there was an large infestation of rats around farms and fields in Barkamsted, warranting farmers calling for outside aid. While the rats were cleared, fears linger that the vast number of rodents could have spread plague among the city's residents. Only time shall tell if these worries are true.
Summer has ended; it is now fall.
Unfortunately we've had to delay our usual biweekly event due to unforseen circumstances. There is to be the harvest festival next week and an auction the week after, however, so look forward to plenty of fun things to do in Saphriel in the future!
Thanks for al the help!

Hi there! Your application is...
Pending!
Accepted!

We would like to see more focus given to the server and its lore first, however, and to make sure you understand the terms that we ask to have defined. Fall has ended; it is now winter.
With the efforts of the Knights Order, the seal around Itiris' inner city has fallen. Though it will take time to fully reclaim from the dangers lurking within, the end of the long effort surrounding it seems within sight. The Harvest Festival also took place, offering a much-needed reprieve of fun-filled games for all.

Prior Roleplay Experience: I have always enjoyed roleplaying and I have some previous experience with it being that I have roleplayed in not only different Minecraft servers before on top of that also different games. While I do have a ton of previous roleplay experience I am always looking for more since I find it to be lots of fun.
Define Power-gaming in your own words I would say that power gaming is when u somehow give yourself an unfair advantage by gaining control over someone elses character.
Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Meta-gaming too me is when u have acquired something out of character too then use it too make decisions in your roleplay that you wouldn't have done if u hadn't gotten the information from the outside.
Define Role-Playing in your own words: Role-playing in my opinion is something amazing, where you get to step into another character and become someone u have always dreamed of being! In roleplay you can really be yourself or step into a character where u can have tons of fun while meeting people with similar interests and maybe even making friends.

Because of this many saw him as strange but he was still highly respected by most Vikings and his friends because of his superiority in fighting.
Other/Extra: (Images, notes, etc.)
