Winter continues, with no end in sight for the time being.
The Kingdom recently held an auction, with vast amounts of silver spent on wonderful artifacts; weapons, enchantments, trinkets, and more! As always it was a competitive spectacle, with several pitching in their own funds to help others outbid their opponents, but by the end many walked away with at least one new item to their name.
Fort Baylee, a castle and surrounding village taken during the Pact War, has been reclaimed! The grief-ridden spirits trapped there by a dark presence are now free to pass on, and Baylee is at last at peace. Though it shall certainly take time, life may slowly but surely build up there once again.
Winter continues, with snow spreading further and further across the land, the cold refusing to abate even as months drag on.
The Knights Order was recently seen marching eastwards, with rumour being that they mean to retake the ancient city-state of Itiris, a holy center of worship in the days before the Pact War. While little has been confirmed outside the Order, any task so great as to require the bulk of their forces will no doubt prove a gruelling challenge indeed.

She has nice teeth, but her bottom row of teeth are crooked, which she hides when she smiles. She has bangs, but they were cut in a choppy way, so she usually has them kept up in a bandana wrap. She was raised by farmers, but lived as a traveling painter for a year before coming to the town.
Character Personality/Traits:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.)
Dem is goofy in personality and likes to play pranks and mess with people. She also likes to say things for a reaction as she likes to feed off of people’s reactions. She is either her goofy self, or when serious about something, Dem has RBF and looks like she’d kill a man if you’d let her. SHe says she messes with people because she thinks it's funny, but it’s also because she doesn’t understand others. She uses comedy as a deflection to avoid her own personal issues she has with people, and she doesn’t mind if people hate her for this. She tries to be strong but is really emotional and cries a lot when no one watches.
Character Biography:
(At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences, you must reference server lore)
Dem grew up in a small village in the farming district of Barkamsted with her parents. She was an only child to a farmer and his wife. All day they’d tend the fields and wouldn’t do much other than that, unless it was a day of festivities. Her father told her stories often of when he fought in a war against monsters, but her mother always said he was exaggerating. He said that her family came to this town when Barkamsted fell, but all his stories sounded too fantastical to be real. He said he had fought a herd of orcs when she was very little to protect her and her mother.
On a day like any other day, she was going out to tend the fields, when her parents became very ill from the plague. The crop had been very poor that year, and she was unable to care for her parents using the little money they had. There wasn’t much she could do, so she left home hoping to make money to pay for a doctor to care for them. However 3 months into her journey as a traveling painter, painting portraits for whoever paid her, she received word that both her parents had succumbed to their illnesses and died. She was heart broken. She sold their home and land, but it was worth little to nothing.
She became lonely and started to risk her life stealing food and other amenities to survive, hoping she can save money to live a life better than her parents. When she was 17, she was eventually caught and jailed, and was imprisoned for 6 months, when she had finished serving her time, she up and left. She eventually found her way into a new town, where no one knew her name. She decided that this time around, she’s trying to live a more honest life, one where her parents wouldn’t be disappointed in her.

Dem tries to find an opening and escape. If she can’t escape she’ll take the closest thing next to her that could be used as a weapon and make an exit. She hates violence but will be violent if backed into a corner.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Dem is curious. She looks at the mound and inspects it, hoping it's treasure or money. She first inspects the surrounding area for traps, and then tries to find an entrance. If there isn’t one, she’ll make an entrance.

A well done application, though there are a few minor things to tweak! Her father mentioned having moved to this unnamed town when Silivrenmir fell, but I'm not sure if this is mentioned for timeframe or if the father had lived there. Silivrenmir was exclusively the home of the elves that sought to isolate themselves from the rest, so it is unlikely for a human family to have resided there. As well as this, Barkamsted had become the last known bastion to man during the war, so any outlying towns and cities would have fallen. It's a simple fix here by noting that Dem grew up in the farming district of Barkamsted.
Another point to mention is the character's age. 22 years ago in the server's timeline, the Pact and the Alliance put aside their war in favor of putting a stop to the cult opening up the gates to hell. A year later, the wars ended but the path toward rebuilding had started. This however makes Dem's age at 19 too young for her father to claim to have defended her from orcs when she was very little, which isn't too much of an issue given that he could just be fabricating a tale to tell which could be far from the truth. Just something to keep in mind for the timeline!
One major event that you are missing within the character's background is mention of the Plague that devastated the population. Both Falkvard and Barkamsted were hit with the plague, the latter being struck the hardest, which caused the infected dead to rise back up as zombies to spread the disease further. This happened 13 years ago, making Dem 6-years-old at the time, so while she is young it is important to make mention of how it affected her and her family. Perhaps you could even allude to this later in life with how her parents both fell ill and eventually expired. Maybe they wanted her to leave the home for quarantine in fear that it was the plague striking up again. You can even further justify the crop being rather poor that year by connecting it to the farming blight that occurred 3 years ago now IC, where a massive amount of farmlife throughout the land had become drained and withered for poor harvest of that year.
The latter portion where she was imprisoned within a town and then forgotten about seems incredibly unlikely to me. As noted, there aren't that many towns remaining after the impact of the war, though a few small villages exist here and there (though they are ultimately under the same jurisdiction as the Kingdom). At the very least she could have just been imprisoned for a time within the Kingdom and released after she did her time, as execution is not always the first solution for criminals. If anything in this application needs a major change, it's largely this portion here. If you have any questions about anything feel free to ask!

Zyra watches her surroundings intently, weaving through the stampede of heightening aggression. Knowing time was ticking, she calculated the best route she could with such limited circumstances. Spotting a set of stairs nearby, she pushed through the crowd and reached out to the railing. And blessedly the crowd released her to climb up the stairs she sought. Skillfully Zyra maneuvered onto the railing and hoisted herself up to sit on the roof of the building she chose. And carefully...she watched for any signs of the devious group she was tracking.

Zyra’s feet carried her quietly across the stone floor. Or...so she thought. The call of the strange mass just ahead sent a shiver up her spine, “****…” She whispered and immediately stopped in her tracks. She took a few steps back, moving back toward the entrance of the room to find a place to hide. She gripped a dusty rope and tugged on it to test it’s strength. And soon she was perched in the rafters to observe from a safe distance what she was dealing with. Could it be a draugr? Whatever it was, it stirred up plenty of dust. It had obviously been there for quite some time.

Character name: Ezrin
Race: Half-Elf
Age: 29
Gender: He/Him/His
Character Description:
Ezrin is a male-bodied half-elf of typical height and build, wearing peasant clothes. He carries a quiver on his back, wears a stabilizing bracer on his right arm, and in cases of entering areas potentially hostile to his mixed race, as well as for tactical purposes in combat, a brown, hooded cloak. His hair and eyebrows are wine-red, and his eyes are brown.
Character Occupation:
Hunter/Mercenary for Hire. As a hunter, Ezrin hunts down monsters in exchange for bounties. Covers a variety of services including but not limited to: Bodyguard Work, Search and Retrieval, Sabotage, Shadowing, and Information Gathering. Ezrin doesn’t take any kind of wetwork, hit jobs, or theft. (Except in the cases of items that were already stolen to begin with)
Character Personality/Traits:
Ezrin is an objective-minded, professionally-mannered individual with a sharp intellect and a soothing, calming voice. He displays a perpetual confidence and somewhat aloof persona, rarely losing his composure when things turn south. Ezrin is a people-person, having a knack for knowing what to say to achieve his goals, or to negotiate his way out of trouble. He is not without caution, knowing which situations- and consequentially which people to involve himself with before striking a deal. In short, Ezrin is ambitious and always planning ahead, envisioning success even in the event of setbacks, but he’s also patient and knows how to keep himself in check.
Ezrin also knows how to hunt and track animals and monsters. His proficiency and aim with a crossbow is respectable, knowing how to maintain himself and his possessions. Like with how he talks with people, he prefers to plan out his combat encounters before engaging, but like any decent hunter, he also knows how to improvise. He almost never works for free however, and if he can, he’ll try to wage a better payment deal. He also has a love of travel, and an investigative sense of curiosity.
Character Biography:
Ezrin was born in the year 64 NE, to parents who were constantly moving to avoid persecution from elves due to their marriage and his own mixed race. He would spend the better part of his first decade learning caution and prudence above all else. The year 72 proved to be the most turbulent of all with the entire kingdom facing the Hell Gates crisis. Ezrin’s human father volunteered to fight the hellbeasts and was summarily killed in action. Later, once the crisis was quelled, and once the persecution was dialed back in 73 NE and his mother finally settled down permanently in a village, Ezrin began to open himself up more to others, but he still retained his habit of being ever-observant and picky about the kinds of friends he’d make, and the things he would say. He neither gained a reputation for being a stick-in-the-mud or a whippersnapper. His above-average intelligence wasn’t unnoticed during his school-years, but Ezrin masked it with average marks in order to avoid unwanted attention.
As a result of growing up during the era of expansion and exploration, Ezrin grew up with a craving for adventure and a wanderlust, much to the exasperation of his mother, an elven huntress named Alanae who didn’t want to lose her son the way she lost her husband. She taught Ezrin how to hunt with a bow and arrow, as well as how to track and to identify different animals and monsters. Sadly, this would be the last gift she would impart upon him before she died of the Plague in 81 NE. Like many others who suffered due to their meddling, Ezrin would blame the Valis Cult for this, but he knew they were far too dangerous to entertain the idea of revenge. Instead, after saving up enough money during the Eastern War, he would move to Falkvard just after the end of the Pine Valley incident to look for more lucrative work opportunities.
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Ezrin looked around frantically, trying not to let his features betray his fear. He knew that his people skills would be next to useless in this situation, and at this rate, it could turn into a full-blown pogrom. He could die. He quickly considered his options, ruling out the impossible. There wasn’t any chance of calming the crowd down… And it was getting more densely packed by the second.
Then it came to him. It’d be risky, and he might get injured or trampled, but hopefully not killed. He simply waited for the crowd to swell and for the guards to finally react, and just as they did, Ezrin saw his opportunity. As the crowd forcibly disperses, Ezrin pushes his way through the now less-dense crowd and climbed to higher ground on a rooftop, watching the chaos from a distance for a few seconds before immediately leaving. He had to get back down before someone spotted him, and after that, out of the city, maybe wait a few weeks before returning, making a mental note to be wary of racial tensions in Barkamsted from now on.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Ezrin pauses, pointed ears pricked up as he listens closely to the echoing sound. Whatever that was… It was in all likelihood unfriendly and posing a moderate threat. Probably a defense of some kind against grave robbers. Good, that meant there was something worth protecting. He wasn’t going to test himself against this thing by himself; he was only there to scope out the place, knowing that in all likelihood he’d need at least one or two more people and to decide what their share of the loot would be before actually taking the plunge.
He’d need more information though. Taking out a decent piece of dried jerky, Ezrin tosses it in the direction of the shambling mound, watching it fly into the dimly lit area and landing with a soft thud that echoes across the room. Less than two seconds later, Ezrin hears the sound of more frantic shambling that heads towards the direction of the thrown meat and what sounds like very messy, open-mouthed chewing. Whatever it was, it was fast, had a good sense of hearing, and it was ravenous. At least for jerky.
He took the opportunity to leave the tomb as quickly and as quietly as possible while the thing was distracted with its meal. Now that he knew what he was up against, he’d need to form the right crew. It wasn’t much, but he’d hit pay dirt. If just a little.
Thank you for updating your application, though apologies on the wait! I see some of the changes here especially with the last paragraph of the backstory, but I still feel like you are missing a portion from my original review. Namely, in this section here.
"On a day like any other day, she was going out to tend the fields, when her parents became very ill from the plague. The crop had been very poor that year, and she was unable to care for her parents using the little money they had. However 3 months into her journey as a traveling painter, painting portraits for whoever paid her, she received word that both her parents had succumbed to their illnesses and died. She was heart broken. She sold their home and land, but it was worth little to nothing."
My first review still applies:

Both Falkvard and Barkamsted were hit with the plague, the latter being struck the hardest, which caused the infected dead to rise back up as zombies to spread the disease further. If her parents had died from the plague, then Dem is only 6-years-old. I don't see it plausible at all for one so young to go out on her own for that period of time in hopes to earn money. Please clarify the details here and you'll be golden!
Thank you for your patience! In all fairness your application is very well structured and I can envision a lot of the character's mannerisms and conduct based on how you have written his personality. Not only that but you did a very good job incorporating the server's lore into his own personal experiences with his family and himself. There is but only one minor tweak that you will need to adjust or clarify. It is mentioned his mother Alanae died of the Plague, but it should be noted that as an elf she would be immune to all disease. In fact, the kingdom took advantage of this and employed or took on volunteers that were of full high-elven blood as couriers to keep communication moving between folks during the quarantine phase. It's possible that she might have died after an unfortunate encounter with the undead that rose from the plague's victims, but she herself would have never been infected.

Sadly, this would be the last gift she would impart upon him before she died in 81 NE, being overwhelmed by a horde of the undead created by the plague after volunteering as a courier.

Edited! Also highlighted area of edit for convenience!
The Knights Order have been successful in their early forays into Itiris, fending off a titanic assault by the Cult, though not without losses of their own. While there remains much to be done in seeing Itiris fully reclaimed, it seems that the city is safe from attack for the time being.
There wasn’t much she could do, so she left home hoping to make money to pay for a doctor to care for them. However 3 months into her journey as a traveling painter, painting portraits for whoever paid her, she received word that both her parents had succumbed to their illnesses and died. She was heart broken. She sold their home and land, but it was worth little to nothing."
My first review still applies:
If her parents had died from the plague, then Dem is only 6-years-old. I don't see it plausible at all for one so young to go out on her own for that period of time in hopes to earn money. Please clarify the details here and you'll be golden!
When she was 6 they had to quarantine from a plague going around. Her parents never fully recovered and were extremely weak since.
On a day like any other day, she was going out to tend the fields, when both her parents became very ill suddenly. The crop had been very poor the previous years, and she was unable to care for her parents using the little money they had.
Hope this is better! Sorry, I skipped that part by mistake lol.

Character name: David
Race: Human
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Character Description:
David was born with the name Josiah. He is a brown haired blue eyed young adult, his height being 5'5". His skin tone is Caucasian, and he's got a scar running over his right eye. He's typically seen with his trusty crossbow on his back, it's name being Tryllium.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
(For us to understand your characters starting skill set, your character still will need to contact the Kingdom to purchase any property)
He's a mercenary for hire, typically using his crossbow Tryllium for most jobs, until it broke in Year 93.
Character Personality/Traits:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.)
David has been known to jump to conclusions, and doesn't trust very easily/quickly after his closest friend abandoned him, leaving for the guard, giving him a disdain towards them. He's usually withdrawn, speaking when it's necessary.
Character Biography: Year 88 - Age: 14
Josiah's best friend, Harris, abandoned him, leaving their family for good. Harris was unfortunately caught by an Orc who was incredibly racist towards humans, slaughtering him on the spot. Before Harris had left, he had given David a crossbow, which would eventually be named Tryllium. David became a loner after Harris had left, never truly getting over the loss of his best friend. Year 90 - Age: 16
Josiah had left his parents, never going back to his previous life. With his intent of never going back, he dropped his last name, and began to go by David. He still had the crossbow that Harris had given him, keeping it in a good condition, the only item that would lead those to recognize him. He had begun his life as a Mercenary for hire, taking the easier jobs, to ensure he wouldn't fail as often. As he grew more comfortable in his skillset, he began to take tougher jobs, enjoying the challenge they brought. While he failed every 3rd job he took, he felt confident in his abilities with Tryllium. He took the toughest job, looking forward to the challenge. With that, he ran into his toughest fight, which he barely won, but at the cost of almost losing his right eye, giving him his scar. Year 93 - Age: 19
David had grown weary, looking towards the easier jobs, feeling the exhaustion that followed his toughest jobs, needing a break. He eventually took a job, that took him deep into the woods of Pine Valley. He figured it would be a simple job, eliminate one of the creature's that supposedly lived out there. He began to track it, leading him to an ancient tomb, noticing that it was a shambling mound of something, he was unable to make it out in the fading dusk's light. (Continued in the second scenario)
--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
David could feel himself being pushed into the riot, unwillingly. He could feel the riot growing more violent, he knew he had to do something to get out of it, and if he didn't, the guards would certainly injure him, or worse. David began to shove people out of the way, attempting to escape the situation before it escalated further. He felt punches being thrown at his smaller frame, wincing in pain at it. All he had to do was navigate through the crowd, and he would be out of there. He noticed a gap in the crowd, and took his chance, quickly sliding through before it closed.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
David sunk to the ground, crouching behind some foliage, hoping it wouldn't see him. He thought to himself, "This has to be what I was hired to kill. But where do I even shoot that- thing?" The mound began to shamble closer to David, clearly having noticed him by now. David began to move away, shooting it, hoping to hit it in a vital organ. As the crossbow bolt drove into the mound, he noticed it didn't seem hurt by it. As David got up to sprint, he dropped it in his hustle. As he began to run, he noticed he dropped Tryllium, watching as that thing went over it, consuming it. David sprinted out of there, he grabbed his quiver, chucking it at the mound, slowing it down enough for him to escape.
Thank you very much for applying for the server! Your application is an excellent foundation, but we'd like to see a little bit more before we accept it as your first character.
Your definition of Power Gaming isn't quite correct for the context of the server. My suggestion is that you look through previous accepted applications to figure out what we mean by Power Gaming. It's important that you understand what it means in case it comes up as a complaint at any point.
The Personality section asks for two full paragraphs, not sentences, so we'd like to know a bit more about your character before we approve them.
Finally the biography could contain a bit more detail, especially as it relates to the world of Saphriel. Where did Josiah-turned-David live? Where was Harris killed? If it was in the cities the Orc might find themselves executed for murder, as the guard tends to keep quite on top of these things. Also, while the Pine Valley is dangerous there aren't any tombs in there as such. It is mostly a wilderness. Since it's an important part of the character's backstory I feel it's important to state! It's a little bit funny as Pine Valley is quite unique in its lack of tombs as such, so you may wish to look elsewhere or just somewhere in the undisclosed wilderness. In general though, more detail describing their life is never a bad thing, especially relating to recent events.
You already likely read through them but just as a reminder you will find a few very helpful links at the start of the thread.

--IC Information—
Character name: Indrid Hylock.
Race: Half-elf.
Age: 32.
Gender: Male.
Character Description:
Indrid is a tall, thin man, with black hair. There are a few black feathers that grow from his scalp on his right side. His hair has two braids on his left side of his head, with a feather ornament dangling just over the front of his left ear. The ornament is two brown leather cords with two obsidian beads at the end of each. Below the beads are magpie feathers, one for each cord. He wears gold-rimmed circular glasses, the right lense is cracked. His eyes are deep green, like of sea glass, though when channeling any form of magic, they glow brighter green. Indrid has a stripe of white in his hair, which he pulls back into a ponytail, along with the braids. The braids and ponytail are both tied off with brown leather cord. He wears a white button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, with a dark copper vest over it. This is tucked into black pants and a thick brown leather belt with multiple pouches attached to it. He wears knee-high brown boots with gold accents, with gold buckles on the outsides of the boots. At his side is a toffee-colored messenger bag, containing his journal, money (though, not all of it), compass, watch, and various trinkets he collects. On the strap of the bag is a white plague doctor mask which smells like old leather, lavender, and vanilla. Over all of this, he wears a black cloak with a brown fur-lined inside. It fastens with a cheap gold brooch, usually made for costumes. He wears a mysterious necklace with a gold key on it. On his hip opposite of the bag, he carries an iron dagger with a green stone in the hilt.
Character Occupation:
Indrid works as a traveling medic, using potions, herbs, and food to help get people back to full health. Though, his form of payment may be a little...unconventional. He trades his work for shiny stones, gems, jewels, and especially any information/books about magic.
Character Personality/Traits:
Indrid is aloof, soft spoken, and somewhat standoffish when it comes to interacting with large groups.
Character Biography:
Indrid was a child when his father was slaughtered by the demon armies. His mother, Eliana, took him and ran; they took up a nomadic lifestyle, living in and out of villages and the forests until Indrid was old enough to start making his own decisions. He started training in medicine and minor magic when he was fourteen. His mother gave him the key to their old house in Silivrenmîr and told him to find his way back, once it's safe, and restore the old house.
That never happened.
Indrid got kidnapped on his way back to his mother's caravan and taken to a soldier's camp to act as a medic upon an outbreak of skirmishes along the border; he spent two years here, patching people up and bringing people back from the brink of death. He became very close friends with an Orc named Makhel, who helped him escape mid-battle. Again, Indrid and Makhel ran and joined a caravan of travelling traders, magicians, healers, and craftsmen -- but unfortunately, they had been chased; Makhel took several arrows protecting Indrid, and didn't make it. Indrid fell into a deep depression, and became obsessed with bringing people back from the dead. He's heard rumor of a mysterious item called "The Totem of Undying" and wants to know the limits of it's power...regardless of cost.
The caravan made their way to Falkvard, where they set up shop in Year 92, and where Indrid is living as of now.
Other/Extra:(Images, notes, etc.)
Indrid is bisexual.
He collects shiny things, like a crow.
He can mimic a variety of noises.
Indrid likes to sing while he works.
Indrid looks around, panic settling in as knives start to be drawn and teeth bared between human and pact alike. It would be difficult to slip out now; he thinks about the implications of a lone half-elf attempting to sneak away, thinks about the possibility of getting searched by the guards or robbed by some less-than-savory characters and freezes up, hand on his own dagger and the blood rushing in his ears. His left ear twitches, once, twice, then he ducks, an axe going sailing over his head and embedding itself in a human man's head. He locks eyes with Indrid -- then chaos erupts, screaming and snarling on all sides, while Indrid slinks back to the dying man, holding his hand while the light drains from his eyes.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Drawing his knife, Indrid creeps closer, a small ball of light bobbing slowly in his hand. The creature freezes as Indrid comes closer, pressing itself to the wall, it seems...almost fearful of the half-elf, shivering when the light is cast over it. Indrid puts the knife away, still wary, but not ready to attempt to slay a creature that only seems afraid, at the moment. A slime, he thinks, as he gently plucks the leaves stuck to it's surface away, and it's slimy skin is revealed. It makes a strange noise, deep inside of itself -- almost like a growl, but unintentionally so. Indrid perks up, and realizes --
"Are you hungry?" He knows the slime wouldn't know what he's saying, but he digs in his bag and retrieves a few strips of smoked beef, holding them out. The slime sniffs them -- or, at least, Indrid thinks it does -- and plants it's face into his hand, absorbing the meat and making a soft purring noise. Indrid pats it on the head, and rests against the wall, while the monster stays still and lets the half-elf pluck the gravel and leaves from it's sticky carapace.
--Magic Application--
Magic Biography:
Indrid's magical abilities are few and far between, but handy in the right contexts. He relies mainly on potions or people who are proficient in enchanting items; but he's able to create lights, pick small things up telekinetically, and heal minor wounds by way of spells. He started when he was fourteen learning how to make light and use telekinesis; and with his mother as his teacher, telekinesis came easier. His proclivity towards light first focused on the key around his neck, and he initially had a hard time between creating light versus heat, and has a red shiny scar just below his clavicle where the key became so hot it burned him. He also began to learn potion making from a ca'liar called Ki'Koroh when he was fifteen, who taught him how to make a potion of health, a potion of harming, and a potion of regeneration.
When he was seventeen, his ability to make potions was tested when he had to make one on short notice for his mother, who was ailing from stepping on a poison snap-trap. He managed to heal her with a potion of regeneration, and went on to start brewing regularly, keeping potions in vials instead of bottles. They are kept right on the inside of his satchel in a special pouch, which is separated so they don't break or clink together.
As of right now, Indrid collects enchanted books and is looking to enchant his iron dagger. His main focus for his magic is the key around his neck, which he's learned to channel magic through instead of directly from himself, which is much more tiring and dangerous. The reason the focus is his key is because he has a closer bond to it and what it means for him, instead of a "proper" focus, like a jewel or stone.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
People are either born with magical potential or they are not, no matter the race. You must hone your ability to use your magic if you are born with the gift. Specific races have anywhere from 0-4 aspects, which are specific fields of magic you can learn. Indrid has an aspect in telekinesis and illusion magic, and wishes he had been born with the gift of dark magic, knowing it would've been helpful in his journey to bring back the dead. Overusing magic and pushing your limits can cause seizures, dizziness, and death. Arcane energy can be grown and solidified, just as exercise can tone a body.
Casting spells requires focus and trinkets to cast through, and they can be anywhere from weak or divine, depending on the trinket. Trinkets are aligned to certain aspects, and can't be used by people who aren't aspects of those types of magic. For instance, a trinket of the Dark wouldn't work with Indrid's illusion aspect, and would react poorly to those types of magic.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
Indrid can use his antique key to channel illusion magic, specifically to make light. This trinket was aspect set by his mother. He had to learn how to channel through it without casting directly onto the key, as well as being able to draw a line between light and heat. He can create light easily now, but it still drains him the size and the duration of the light.
An excellent start to an application! I can tell you really read the lore of the server and most of what's in here makes good sense. With a few edits I think Indrid would fit the server very well!
There are a few things to go over.
"There are a few black feathers that grow from his scalp on his right side." this would be a vestige of the initial Avalti application, but Half-Elves can't grow feathers unless they're Half-Demons.
Your character will need to learn how to make potions once you start playing, they can't really start off with the intrinsic knowledge to make them.
The different magics they have will heavily depend on what trinkets they had access to. The spells they had would've been limited as such by the aspects they played around with. Some races, such as the beast races, do start with the ability to cast without trinkets but Half-Elves are not one of them, so it's more likely that your character would have just known they had magic but wouldn't have really been able to cast with it.
The scope of their casting would also be limited. For example, healing wounds is a strictly Holy magic. Light can be both Holy, Fire and Illusion in theory. He still wouldn't be able to cast without a trinket though, and of course your character can't start with a trinket, they need to obtain one once they're being played.
Feel free to shoot us any questions over Discord, especially in #general-inquiries and we'll get to you an answer!
Just as a clarification to the above: your character can start off with beginner knowledge in alchemy which will help in herb recognition, but they cannot know specific recipes.

Race: Half Elf
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Character Description: She stands at 6’-2” with black hair, green eyes, and a lovely figure. (Her legs in particular.) Her skin tone is warmer than an elf’s, matching her mother’s rather than her father’s. She sports light armor with plenty of pouch space, gauntlets, a bit of ankle armor, and holds a rapier and a set of well-balanced throwing knives on her belts.
Character Occupation: A Novice Rogue Inquisitor
Character Personality/Traits: I used to play her as a really grumpy/spicy/salty woman but I hope to develop her character into something that would actually fill a paragraph, heh.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?

There wasn’t much she could do, so she left home hoping to make money to pay for a doctor to care for them. She was heart broken. She sold their home and land, but it was worth little to nothing."
My first review still applies:

The Knights Order have been successful in their early forays into Itiris, fending off a titanic assault by the Cult, though not without losses of their own. While there remains much to be done in seeing Itiris fully reclaimed, it seems that the city is safe from attack for the time being.
Dem grew up in a small village in the farming district of Barkamsted with her parents. She was an only child to a farmer and his wife. All day they’d tend the fields and wouldn’t do much other than that, unless it was a day of festivities. He said he had fought a herd of orcs when she was very little to protect her and her mother.
When she was 6 they had to quarantine from a plague going around. Her parents never fully recovered and were extremely weak since.
On a day like any other day, she was going out to tend the fields, when both her parents became very ill suddenly.
Hope this is better! Sorry, I skipped that part by mistake lol.
Apologies for the wait (and the bad quoting), Cysha has been busy with real life lately so I'll be reviewing your application! That said, it is...
Accepted!
You've made the neccessary edits, interesting character with a lot of potential for growth. Looking forward to seeing what she accomplishes in Saphriel!

Character Biography:
Year 88 - Age: 14

Let me know if you have any questions, or shoot them directly on Discord's general-inquiries channel. Otherwise feel free to edit your application and shoot a quick reply to this post!
Winter continues, though things slowly appear to be getting warmer.
The Knights Order have withdrawn from Itiris, leaving its defense to the Kingdom's military while preparation is underway to retake other areas of the city. For while safe from outside, not all is so well within...

Other/Extra: (Images, notes, etc.)
Indrid is bisexual.
He collects shiny things, like a crow.
He can mimic a variety of noises.
Indrid likes to sing while he works.
