We've made Endermen peaceful. They lay pearls (similar to how chickens lay eggs), and they will follow you if you have a pearl in your hand.

This change was reverted back in 1.9, since The End became such a big part of Minecraft and we didn't want to affect gameplay that much.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread, but we have since updated to 1.10.2.
