Ok so he UNOP me and restarted the server. He is admin and it still tells him he does not have permission to kick me. He can however clone blocks? I watched him try over skype video chat. this is weird? He is currently the only OP player.
That works! but we were wondering if we invited random people and he is offline. Without him we cannot kick people. We were hoping for a way for me to kick as well by becoming OP and doing /kick while in game while he is offline?

A possible solution is have him give you his account info, i.e. username and password. Whenever you need to kick a player, log onto his account and kick players that way. Of course, this is risky for several reasons, but it's a possibility.

Found out how to make you a OP
OP a player
Click the greyed-out crown icon to promote a player to an operator (OP). Only do this for trusted players, as they will gain a number of in-game administrative powers. Click the gold crown icon to make that player a normal user once again.
Tell your friend he has to come online and make you OP on his realms server
i had the same problem, I am a realm owner and i have an op and we both tried kicking/banning other players. from what i discussed with other realm owners is that on a realm you can not use that command. it is simply for a server, not a realm. same goes for the /ban command. I am not sure why you can't use these, they are just not commands you can use in a realm. sorry!
All you gotta do is go to the whitelist and take em off!
This isn't the issue. The issue is not being able to ban someone who A: isn't on the server at the time or B: by a non-owner but still has Operator status. This means that we will always have to wait until an owner has access to a computer that has Minecraft installed to remove a player.
Temporary fix in my Realms server is advising my Operators to /gamemode 3 to disable their interaction with the world and then message me until I can get on and remove them. Having access to World backups as well would be nice, to revert any damages done by a TNT Greifer, etc. Heck, even setting per-player options that have Operator status would make things a LOT easier (Enable/Disable the ability to change certain options on the Realm).

Remove a player
Click the red "X" to remove a player from your list of invited players.
Your friend probably has to remove the player from invited list

The easiest solution is to just set a command block to repeat and always active to kill the player you want to ban
here is the command
/kill <player u wanna ban>
Always Active and Repeat, so basically they can't do anything.
lmao, that is so funny.... great idea SpecialPotatoes
