Listen... I have had the port 25565 port forwarded for a long time now, and my Minecraft server has ran really well ever since 1.9. Heck, even 1.12.2 marked one of the best times of Minecraft for me! However, one night when I was about to record with all my buds, it ended up in failure, due to the fact my friends got an error along the lines of this:
io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information:
All I know is, this error indicates it didn't even find an inbound connection with the server.
I'm a bit annoyed, since I've looked all over the internet for some resolution to it. I've port forwarded the right IPv4 address, enabled the DMZ server through my router for the server, fiddled with my firewall and inbound/outbound protocols (even turned it off), reset the router to factory settings, and yet the ports are still closed! I'm working with a Netgear WNR2000v4, and if anyone can help, please do! This technicality is beyond my comprehension at the moment, but I do not really know what to resort to... getting a new router? Contacting my ISP? I can very well assure you I'm giving them the right external IP address...
Upon further investigating, I got my friend to ping my external IP address, here are the results.
Use this site to check if your server is visible https://dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/status/
That's a pretty handy website, although I already knew the server was inaccessible through the internet and others couldn't join. '^^ Just trying to pinpoint what the problem is... since I already went through a bunch of options. Next on my list... call the ISP.
Regardless, thanks for the URL! That'll be handy when I'm in the process of testing the ports, instead of getting a friend to help me.
