So I am hosting a Minecraft server on my laptop and i can join while on my laptop with the IP "localhost" but, i just want to host it on that computer dont want to play on that computer; i have my desktop but cant seem to join the server while on my desktop. The two computers are on the same network so i am at a lose of what it could be. Here is the error message i get when I try and connect to the server:
FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE SERVER
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information:
Any help would be awesome.
P.S
I have tried to join the server with the address localhost and my external IP address
When connecting from your desktop to your laptop, use the local ip address of the laptop. Use the one that commonly starts with 192.168.*.* or 10.*.*.*
If that fails, try looking at your router configuration. Some routers I've used in the past do not let wireless and wired computers talk to each other. This of course assumes your laptop is connected via WiFi. If possible, have your laptop connected via ethernet to your router.
But it sounds like you have port forwarding set up and working. If you have any further questions let me know.
