I can connect to my server perfectly fine using my internal IP, and I have forwarded a port and reserved an IP on my netgear router, but whenever my friends try to connect using my external IP they get the error:
io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection refused: no further information
I also cannot find my port/server on Nowyouseeme or the dinnerbone server connection tester thing, they cannot find my server at all
Everything is set to be pretty much default and my server runs fine with the internal IP, and my port looks fine, Im not sure what I should change, I used 25565 as the internal/external start port and used the internal IP for my computer, I also set it for both TCP/UDP as well, Im not sure what I need to change?
My server is also set to offline mode but I can connect with both online mode on and off, help?
I also got this same error before if I put my internal IP in the server settings for "server-ip" (now Ive left it blank and it works fine)
First off all, changing it to offline mode is bad practice. It disables Mojang's Account Authentication, and is essentially for allowing people to play on the server without a valid account. At any rate, I could never get onto a server that had offline mode off - so I would recommend turning that back on.
That COULD be the problem, if that has been off the whole time. If not, I would suggest trying to force the server to run with your IPV6 address. For whatever reason, on my Comcast Router, other people can ONLY connect to my server once I have forced it to run with my IPV6 address. I can connect to it fine regardless, using my IPV4 or IPV6 or localhost:25565. That would mean you would have to put your local IPV6 address into the port forward rule as well (assuming it isn't already).
