Anyways, I've had a custom IP for my server for a while now, like <serverip>.mcho.us
But whenever I put that as my IP on the server page of my server, it puts a port behind it AFTER I submit the changes, even though when I verify the IP it connects properly, and I didn't put a port behind it.
Anyways, if you join with <serverip>.mcho.us:25570, the IP obviously doesn't work.
The numeral IP still works fine, but I'd really like to set it to the custom one, as my server is a pretty proffessional one, and it doesn't look well to have a numeral IP.
Other servers do have their custom <serverip>.com IPs, so it is possible, I just don't know how to.
i think its meant to do that, your custom ip might take time to work i had to wait for my Website domain to work
The custom IP itself is working, it's just that the Minecraft Forums keep putting a port behind the custom IP, even though I'm leaving it blank, which makes it not work, since a custom IP together with a port doesn't work.
And besides, putting an IP in server.properties is not a good idea. It's only necessary if it's binding wrong, and this has absolutely nothing to do with that. Another pet peeve.. it's NOT A CUSTOM IP, IT'S A DOMAIN NAME!! Sorry, I just get tired of people calling domain names IPs lol.
Anyway.. if you want to have <servername>.mcho.us (btw, why are you censoring it if you are trying to add to MCF server list? it's gonna be public then lol) that connects to your IP using the 25570 port but not show a port, you need to setup a SRV record. Did you do that?

- Right, could you tell me more about setting up an SRV record? I'm not really sure how it works.
- And alright, a domain name, sorry!
- I'm censoring the domain name/ip because putting it in the post would be considered advertising my server, which is not allowed in the minecraft discussions section, where I originally posted this.
Ahh, ok, that makes sense Sorry, didn't mean to yell, it just makes me nuts hehe. As far as SRV, it depends on your DNS provider. Look in whatever you click to add a new record. If you not see it mentioned, it may be like a Windows DNS server where it's under "other records". If it's like ClouDNS, they have record types as tabs so you'd look for that tab. Once you find it, create one with service _minecraft, protocol _tcp, leave priority and weight default, port put your 25570 and for host put your <whatever>.mcho.us.
Hey, in advance, thanks for reading!

Still looking for a solution..?

Yep, that's the problem I'm having, if they just didn't put it there it'd be working, but it gets put there automatically.
I'm talking about my page on the Minecraft Forums here, so that's got nothing to do with it :l
.
