Around 10 months ago I created a private server for me and my friends to play on, I used minecraft 1.8.1, .exe file, and whitelist on. After around 4 months, I switched to the .jar file after hearing that it was more powerful. 3 months later, the server suddenly stopped working, and I have tried everything I can think of. Please help me so I can go back to playing with my friends!
EDIT: They never find the server in the first place, and yes, I know how to portforward, I've set my system path too.
False. UDP is unnecessary. Server structure requires purely TCP communication. UDP does not respond back to the source to verify delivery of packets, which is IMMENSELY important to game servers.
The idea that you need both is a perpetuated misconception by overnight network gurus who really know nothing outside of what they read on the internet.
Even if I portforward UDP, it doesn't work. I remember reading somewhere that java operates on TCP connections and the minecraft wiki tells me to set up a TCP connection.
This is where I am going to have to get the error message

Retrace your steps and tell us them.
try redownloading the server
I thought it was obvious what the problem is. Clearly he just needs to "make it work". Duh.
Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
Alpha 1.0.4
Go back and undo anything you did before it stopped working that usually works lol
Modpack is called The New World (Available on Twitch & Curse)

The Error message my friend receives is: Connection timed out: no further information
That help at all?
EDIT: I did a little fix and now it says connection refused: no further information
canyouseeme.org cannot see me, neither can the portforward.net PF port checker tool
Wireless modem was breaking server, got a new modem and that fixed it.
