I just put a new SSHD in my server and redid the OS on it which is Ubuntu Server 14.04 X64, when I did the "sudo apt-get install default-jdk" it installed java 7.
Now i've seen around that java 8 should be available for ubuntu server consoles but I have a few questions about it:
(1)Would I be able to install java 8 and remove java 7 so 8 is the only java installed?
(2)Would minecraft/Spigot/Bukkit server utilize java 8 if it's the only one on the system?
(3)Is there a performance boost using Java 8?
(4)Is it easy to install java 8 on ubuntu server?
My main concern is with minecraft not recognizing java 8 and erroring out every startup attempt. any help is greatly appreciated.
