Normally I'd be able(With the help of the Dumb Internets) to be able to solve problems that I have without request to the Smart Internets for assistance. This is not one of those times.
So, I run a vanilla MC server, JAR rather than EXE, on my machine. I've just recently reformatted mt machine to give... Windows 8 and long-term test. My software firewall is the same as before, everything is properly allowed, Windows firewall is disabled(With Java added to the exception list, just in case), my ports are forwarded to my Win8 IP address, my external IP is still the same... and no one can see the server at all. I can connect to it just fine(Even though my MC client is set to use the external IP instead of localhost. 1.3 boned that method of testing) and so can others on my network, but no one outside of it.
I ask, humbly, for anyone's assistance with solving my problem. It would be greatly appreciated.
If the server is online, look at the server.log and post any errors, if any you may find. If you do not find any, then try going to canyouseeme.org and type in your port and IP address, and make sure that it is port forwarded correctly.
Normally, when you can connect, and people on your Network can, then it is a port forwarding issue. Sometimes, if you are positive the 25565 is done correctly, and you re-did it. Try a different port, sometimes that will work.
I am at a complete loss.
My router's configuration has not changed. Port still properly forwarded.
Now that I figured out how, the Win8 firewall is completely off AND it has a rule to allow the port(Just in case)
My software firewall(Comodo) has Trusted exceptions for the JAR, Java, and the specific port
Nothing new in the log(Rightly so)
canyouseeme.org is an awesome resource that confirms that the port is STILL not being forwarded... I formatted on Thursday with this HW configuration(Router, computer, modem), configured my firewall once it was up, and I still can't get it...
I suppose I shouldn't feel SO bad, I've only been building computers and networks for 15 years... I very sincerely appreciate the assistance, Rmarmorstein, they did add to my knowledge. Any other ideas you might have would be wonderful. I don't want to reset my router given that it's all DD-WRTed and I don't want to have to reconfigure all that, I will if I have to, I just want to leave that for last if I can.
