I've been using Applied Energistics along with a bunch of magic mods, but it bothers me how they seem to clash. Can someone make a sphax styled texture pack for Applied Energistics that makes it look like the machines made from wood, and has magical symbols? Maybe a language pack to change the names of the objects so it fits better? I think it'd be really cool, and I'd love to have a mystical computer with vines covering it.
I'm not so sure about "rustic" disguising tech mods as magical. Applied Energistics would look amazing conveyed as "Atlantean", or Ancients from Stargate, and would blend nicely with worlds containing magic. I'm thinking kind of an obelisk texture with glowing insets, something that would be carried out of a temple because the blocks were so enticing, and would look like it can do everything it does.
Yeah, maybe made to look like their carved from a dark stone, with glowing cyan runes where the screens and drives are. The drives could be Runic Plates instead of hard drives, and they could be slotted into a obsidian-ish block with inscriptions. If I was any bit artistic, I'd do it myself.
By the picture you can guess that Atlantean is my favorite theme. In the past few days I was making blocks designed to go with AE for extra blocks added with customitems, not exactly fitting the "Ancient" part, but close. The blocks in the ground have glowing computer screens on the sides, so they are hidden.
Hmm, the style is still a bit too techy. I'd like the look to be more rustic and fantasy themed. The wooden/stone mana-computer idea could work if portrayed well enough.
