Hello all, as by the title you can tell i am going to be running an idea for a massive mod that would bring a lot into the game that I think would be fun and I am looking for a few things. I would have to know A is my concept even possible B would people play it and C would anyone know how to start developing/ want to help create said mod.
The concept behind the mod would be more of an MMO type style within Minecraft but much more simplistic and without a real story. It would be a multiplayer concept where each person starts in the world and has the option to start and join a pre-existing settlement ( made by players) or to make their own. There would be a "class" system where each person could only be good at one thing and would have their own role in society. for example, you could specialize as a farmer to provide food for the village and you could either directly sell your goods to people or sell them to say a chef, or butcher, or town baker. Tools could also have skill levels and so would activities, ex: you would need to mine to gain mining levels and level up so you could use a certain type of pickaxe and you could have a certain level of proficiency with each ore so you could get more out of each vein. Towns would start with a cheap recipe that would simply set up a boundary ( which would be locked by chunks) and there would be a universal currency( likely a form of gold coins or something similar) that could be produced or traded that would also be used to expand the town's borders. The owner of the town could set a tax and there could be a set trading system ( think like a trading chest one party puts in materials and the other does as well and then they flip sides kinda like a trade booth and taxes could be set to whatever % so the town gets a portion to expand). Along with taxation, there could be a system where you had to buy land from the town owner and only the owner of a chunk ( or whoever has permission) could edit the chunk. Any player could join a town and if towns get big enough and with enough coordination large territories with complex cities could be manufactured, solely by the players who run them. It would be like a real life economy and like a real life world set in mid evil times with professions ranging from a wheat farmer, beet farmer, blacksmith, fletcher, weaver, enchanter, alchemist, etc. The whole system would be run by the player and rules would be governed by the land you own. There could potentially be a war system and a way to recruit people into an army if the playerbase wants that. the premise of this is to build a mod that can create a way to become part of a living economy where each person has a role and has an effect on what goes on around them and both depends on and is depended upon for growth and survival.
any comments, questions, concerns or help is greatly appreciated
thank you for your time
please excuse any typos or bad grammar.

The class system isn't hard to implement. You could use groups and WorldEdit to setup the settlements.
