I wanted to show this redstone contraption I made today after learning how to actually build things using redstone. It's a machine that will "crush" trees using pistons, so that the user can collect the wood easily. There's still a lot of room for immrovement though.
Nice! If you could, please explain how this mechanism works. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure it just moves them forward then crushes them between the piston and cobblestone. I could be wrong though. No clue what the third stack of pistons is for.
it is a glitch/feature that breaks blocks into their entity floating "spinney" form. It occurs when two pistons facing each other push in at exactly the same time and depending on the direction facing it will only happen when the block is crushed beginning from one piston but not the other. I don't know the actual directional ruling but here is an example.
Interesting idea! I think I'll make an automated version of this to get ready for tomorrow (along with the other 10 things I've made for the same reason xD).
This is the single most unique idea I've found on the forums involving pistons yet! Good show, My man! But could you possibly make a blueprint, That would be very nice, It could help out a lot on some SMP servers.

Neither bad, but I think I heard that official pistons can't crush blocks.
