I'm Having a similar problem. My idea is to use entity data to move stationary minecarts, however, I encounter this error message when I try to run the command. Please give me a hand with this command.
It worked :). I feel a bit sheepish though. The error was that I was testing for a block ~ ~-1 ~ when it should have been ~ ~-2 ~ Thanks for your help, and cool avatar by the way
ok... how do I use commands to STOP the minecart, because without that the whole system is worthless. any ideas (aside from just letting the minecart slow down on its own)?
having a similar problem, it fails to execute clone if i have an exact coordinates to be cloned, if i make the coords relative to the player it works just fine.
im trying to make a cluster of command blocks to sort of follow the player by cloning the cluster and deleting the blocks at the old location, if you know anything about this, or know someone who does, do tell.

Try just copying and pasting the reddust command and making it fire without changing the numbers.
If that doesn't work, then flame isn't a valid particle type. Kind of like typing in "Qwerty" as a mob with /summon.
I'm positive that flame is a valid particle type, I've tried doing it without using the second execute. When it goes wrong, is whenever I type the second execute for example:
That's when it goes wrong. Why is this happening? From my experience, everything I've typed is just fine. Is this a bug?
EDIT: Oh yeah, and yes I did copy the command and just change the particle effect. They should change the execute command so that instead of just giving off the error message: "Failed to execute:" and start saying the actual error. Damn annoying.

You need to make sure that there is an emerald block +1 block on the Z axis from a player who has exactly 4 levels of XP. Other than that, the command seems fine. You could try removing the "/" before testforblock, that might do something. I assume that the problem is that you are getting an error, if so it is most likely "Failed to execute command". If so, try copying just
/testforblock ~ ~ ~1 emerald_block
And doing the command from the player (Yourself) while you're in the right position and with the right setup (4 XP levels, 1 block on the + from the Z axis).
It would be helpful if you could give more information on what is going wrong and what you intend to do.
I am have a problem like this but I'm creating a jetpack in minecraft and it says failed to execute summon armorstand ~ ~ ~ {Tags:["fly"],ArmorItems:[{},{},{id:minecraft:diamond_helmet}],Silent:1,Invisible:1b,Marker:1b,CustomNameVisible,CustomName:Player}}

Sorry, it is impossible to tell what the error is with your command since with /execute, if there is an error it will be "hidden" or not shown since it can only display the "failed to execute" error. To find out what the error is exactly, change the command to:
(In other words, simply remove the execute part at the beginning)
and the command block should give a more meaningful error message, perhaps you can understand what the error is yourself, but if you do not then paste it in a reply and I may be able to further help you.
Although, I do see a problem that I don't understand to my knowledge, what do you intend to achieve from the ' Tags:["fly"] '?
As of 1.8 the last time I checked, "Tags" is not a valid NBT tag, nor is fly.
I'm not certain of this though
Thanks!
