I started playing Minecraft with my Kids. I am by all purpose and intent a noob at this game. I was playing around with red stone circuits and watching tutorials, and despite copying those designs perfectly, (I think). My results are never the same as the youtubers. For example, a simple retractable door two blocks high when activated only operates the top set of blocks and not the bottom. See video below.
If anyone could tell or show me what I've done wrong. (I think the video contains all the information required to see what that may be.) Please let me know. If there are any other questions that need answered to help determine the causal error Please feel free to ask.
Thanks for all you responses, I'm using windows 10 edition on PC. Also while I don't disagree with what you said one of the easier ways I've found for me to learn something is to copy a working model and then play with it until I figure out the process myself.
As for those who asked the exact nature of the door here's a better vid.
Here is the reference video that I used to make it.
I think I did it exactly to spec so if someone can tell what my error was please let me know.
The probable cause for it looking like a console is more than likely that I'm just plain terrible.
If anyone has any further questions feel free to let me know, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.
