I would like this to be fixed, since I am making a map that needs this.

Basically, you can't put signs on fences.

Oh, of course. I saw you placing the sign and thought, what's the problem here but it was typing into the sign rathr than actually placing it which got me mixed up. Sorry about that.

This can be easily worked around by crouching while you place the sign.
