Mojang deciding not to fix BUDs is actually a pretty bad move. They said long ago that they wouldn't fix it, but now they said if they accidentally fixed it while fixing other bugs, they'd add an official BUD block. Unfortunately, it never got killed, so now our Pistons are buggy.
All these piston bugs could go away if they just fix the dang BUD switch. As for the lamps, they are acted as intended. It would make sense if the redstone would power the one right next to it, but it is normal.
They stated that if they do remove it, they would add a BUD block and I doubt they would go back on that.
There's more bugs related with the new dispenser. They said that now you should remove the signal from the dispenser to be able to fire it again, but they have created more bugs:
Pushing or not the lever makes impossible to fire the dispenser with the button....
Well, there's something wrong. It happens in one world but don't happens in another...

I figured it was a directional quirk, but apparently it's not.
» When you pull the lever down, the dispenser will allow one item to be dispensed, then it locks.
» When you put the lever back up, the dispenser doesn't react to the first button press, but works fine after that.
» If you put some redstone ore next to it, pull the lever down, and jump on the ore, the dispenser fires immediately, and won't respond to the next button press.
» If you put the lever back up, then jump on the redstone ore, it responds to the next button press.
» Same thing works if you just place a block next to the dispenser... or update the dispenser in any other way.
Basically, it's another bug/bud. When the lever is down, it prevents the dispenser from firing (even though it's not connected), but buds it first so that it fires when updated. I suspect that there's some kind of downward directional bias that crept into the code during the revamp. That would explain the pistons and lamp in my picture, and partly explain the dispenser.
Let me reiterate: Go home, redstone. You're drunk!
If someone could make a dupe profile named Redstone to contest this claim, I'd appreciate that a lot. That'd be greeaat, thaaanks...
HAHA.
...anyway, yeah, it's pretty obvious that Mojang is just not implementing the BUD switch just so they have an excuse not to fix these types of glitches.
