Until today 90% of my world was Desert. It's like 'oh look a desert!' walk for a few minutes 'Oh hey another cactus!' ten minutes later "Hey that mountain looks cool!" an hour later "Dude does this thing ever end? I am like... running out of food." and then when you finally get to the end you realize you forgot your equipment...
Three hours later you arrive at your destination... and then you get ganged up on by 4 creepers and you realize you don't know where your stuff is in this wasteland.
...
But seriously. I do love larger biomes. Though I did swear after my second Minecraft world that I would swear off deserts near my home... seriously that Desert was about the size of my current one. Well sorta.
But no really. I do enjoy larger biomes. It's nice knowing that I can actually live in a decent forest and I love fighting mobs at night in deserts.
But I have to admit. Iron has become as precious as diamonds. Well I could use nether portals... but yeah. Iron rails have never been so useful... But I really don't want to consider connecting my latest base in extreme hills to my main base...
I can't play on regular biomes any more. I really like the larger ones and I like that the desert is a wasteland now. Exept for all the pools of water.
I'd rather have to struggle in a big desert rather than cross a 20 block patch of sand that f3 says is a desert when it's really a sandpit.
Yeah I love the larger biomes. It can be harsh to start in an environment with no trees like planes or a dessert, but the starter chest can help out with that a little. In my most recent world I spawned in a planes and there was about 12 planks in my starter chest. Rather than try to find a forest I decided to just start digging and hope that the 12 planks would last me long enough to find a mineshaft system. I ended up so scared that I would run out of tools that I didn't even make any torches. I just kept moving the 4 that start around the starter chest as I went. In the end I did manage to find a mineshaft in an underground ravine. I even found melon seeds. But my downfall is that I stupidly didn't think to kill any sheep while I was topside and when I eventually died I had no spawnpoint setup and couldn't find my stuff when I went back down thru the caves. It was definitely one of the most different experiences i've had in minecraft, but all in all from this and other worlds that i've made since the update I think I prefer the large biomes.
JEEEZ, I can't take it anymore! "Emerald block is useless", "Villages - what's the point?", "ENDERCHEST overpowerd!", "Large biomes is stupid", "Villager trading is unbalanced", "Wool? Very unrealistic game ever!", what else? "Colored planks ruin the game"? Quit it! Stupid whining.
Iron never changed even with larger biomes, unless you're talking about consumption from rails. I do love larger biomes but the only difference it's made to me is the fact that it is actually a journey to look for specific items in other biomes and having to mark down BIOMES in my books, not just structures, which is very interesting.
The only real pain was dragging a villager to my forest biome over 2km twice, but now I'm gonna live in a seed where villages are near so I don't have to worry about that. I agree with GSR, once you go large, you never wanna go back.
I love large biomes. My only problem with them is how I play. I have a tendency to walk forever to find a decent spot to live in normal worlds. So in large biomes I typically end up walking even farther. Which usually isn't a problem... Until I forget to set my spawn, die, and end up back at my original spawn.

I'm usually not trying to be rude. So if a post comes across that way then sorry :]
I kinda like them, but it does get monotonous when you wanna actually GET somewhere. If they make villages appear in all biomes then sure its w/e. But if they dont you're stuck adventuring for hours longer than you might've originally intended to just to move out of a biome to find another one that doesn't have what you're looking for. I'd say, if you're patient and love adventuring and barely surviving then large biomes for you, as they make you stretch your resources better. But if you want to experience more of the game at a slightly quicker pace then you're best off with normal biome generation.

I think you would've benefited by actually reading the thread.
However. I still think a majority of th ebiomes are boring since they screwed with world generation, and I myself dont want them larger. Already Jungles are everywhere and to large. I like jungles, but nearly every new world I spawn is a jungle, with jungle everywhere.
The other biomes are generally tame and featureles, no more majestiv terrain. I dont want miles and miles of boring rolling terrain.
Just for the record. I know it's confusing. I have to admit I felt a bit trollish and wanted to see how many people would actually bother reading the entire OP.
But my complaints were somewhat valid. I mean I love larger biomes. But sometimes it feels like it takes forever to get across them. But for some reason it does seem to make exploring a bit more fun.
Oceans got even more massive, perfect for ultra large underwater bases
Large Extreme Hills biome seems very awesome and beaches and rivers got a great upgrade too. I enjoy Large biomes. I wonder how would a Tiny biome option work?
Funny, I've been searching for a desert map forever. All I get is taiga or jungle
Here's a good Large Biomes Desert seed. It is a MASSIVE desert, and you spawn pretty much in the middle of it I think.
Be Warned though: This has happened both times I have used this seed to make a LB world == There is a river running through the HUGE desert, I keep spawning right in the middle of this river, heh heh. So be ready to swim the moment you enter the world.
trying to walk around the edge of my extreme hills giant biome so it can generate with some emerald ore before the next patch. the biome is so big i will have to trek through the middle because its too far from me to generate. awesome!
also, I think the crazy mountain features are enhanced with the larger biome option
I find wierd stuff like this;
and other really big formations. I call it the Shroom.

Too bad Jeb is taking out emerald ore blocks before the next patch, so you will probably have little holes in your mountains where emerald spawned, proof here: http://twitter.com/jeb_/statuses/207119318612320256

Nope, it is actually the same generation, only I think that everything is 10x bigger, there was a thread somewhere showing two pictures of the same seed, one was in normal generation and one was large biomes, you could find the smaller biomes exactly the same in the large biomes, only 10x (or so) smaller. The generation there just looks crazier because it is enlarged from a small little floating bit of ground, to a large floating bit of ground.

there will not be holes in my mountains. remove it means from the terrain generation code meaning there will be no more ore generated in new chunks. thats why i'm generating extreme hills now.
when ferns were removed, all my fern decorations didnt disappear. they were still there all the way to when ferns came back.
as to your second statement; what do you think I was saying?? enhanced as in larger biomes= larger crazy terrain.

Anyone else love Larger Biomes?

You don't need a spiritual leader to achieve enlightenment.
I love them (Only If I find a Extreme Hills Biome or Forest Biome)

I thought the traditional normal Minecraft Worlds already used the "Tiny Biome" option? Heh heh.
