Why was auto jump initiated are people too lazy to jump anymore. Now we are jumping when its not wanted. I suggest there should be a way to turn it off. You cant even run around and pick up mined blocks without jumping everywhere. Again why was this installed??? THANKS
It's great in Pocket Edition because most people play the survival version of Pocket Edition. But on the PC version of Minecraft, most people play creative and superflat.
I'd love to see where you got these statistics.
It's more of a quality of life thing. I don't see why it's getting so much hate considering how small of a feature it is (And the fact that it can be turned off at will without changing anything huge)
I know this is a month old topic, but I happened to find it and I wanted to share my opinion. Even though you can turn the auto jump off, the auto jump is still useless. It's great in Pocket Edition because most people play the survival version of Pocket Edition. But on the PC version of Minecraft, most people play creative and superflat. Even new players to the game usually start in creative. The auto jump isn't need in the PC version because the PC version has better freaking controls then the crappy Pocket Edition controls.
Lastly, I'm surprised nobody has reported one of the major auto jump bugs: walking up to a block with auto jump on while you have Jump Boost V or higher sends you flying in the air. Just thought I'd mention that.
Um.. y'know people can use touch controls with minecraft PC right? This really helps with that. There are many other uses for auto jump as well, such as being very young and not used to wasd controls.
In any mod pack that has it, like Tinker's Construct Traveler's Boots, that's one of the first things I try to get, they let you walk up one block heights without jumping. I'm so glad this has been added to vanilla, makes the game much more enjoyable without all that key tapping, especially when you're climbing a huge hill.
So, yeah, this is a feature I've wanted for a long time.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.

maybe it's getting hate because it sucks? ok, you walk up to a block one level above your feet level, you climb it, without pressing spacebar, that's nice, i could live with that, but if you're walking outdoors, there a one-block elevation on your side, and you just want to walk forward, not autoclimb sideways and get down all the time? maybe if they made the angle configurable, more people would use the feature.

Well, it's probably not the best, but I wouldn't say it outright sucks.
I, personally enjoy the feature quite a bit. Sure it may get annoying rarely when it jumps when I don't want it to, but either way I can live with it, and if it ever gets too annoying, then of course just toggle it off.
Maybe with a bit of reconfiguration, it'll be better, but it still can be useful to some people.
I don't particularly like it, I turned it off right after a 10min trial. I can't understand why, but I simply don't like it; it doesn't feel natural to jump when doing nothing but running. On the other hand, I think the spacebar of my keyboard would love me to turn it on. It's getting looser and looser the more I'm playing.
Guys it specifically says in the update description that the feature is meant for new players who have trouble with controls and also for disabled people who have bad coordination. This can also be used to give players less muscle fatigue because later in life hours playing minecraft will have slowly degenerated your wrist and finger muscles from too much repetitive movement. The auto jump feature is the first step to making minecraft acsessable and more enjoyable for players and personally I enjoy it very much.

Wouldn't say it's their first step. Note: subtitles (Which are amazing even if your hearing is quite fine)
But aside from features directly towards certain groups of people, many of the game's features have been made with accessability in mind. Such as resource packs, simpler command formatting, etc. Even the peaceful difficulty would count as one of these things.
Mojang has done quite a bit to make the game both accessable and suitable for everyone.
That was basically what i was saying in a nutshell as I said I enjoy it very much and i am not disabled but i do agree that it may not be the first step but it is a very noticeable feature and more prominent than other efforts.

You can turn it off. Controls section.

...
This "suggestion" is already in the game. Plus, this thread is very immature, but whatever.
I looked in controls and saw now way to turn it off. It just says jump is the space bar. And yeah whatever!
It's at the top.

wanna blow me, eh?
I know right! I HATE the auto jump feature... that's why I turned it off, go to Settings>Controls>Auto Jump:On <-- Click that and it's off!
