If you were on death row (or for some other reason) and had a last meal what would it be?
Me. Salisbury steak, ramen noodles and pot pie would be my joke answer but honestly when you see death coming you'll take every second you can get so steak, bacon, eggs, chocolate shake, vanilla coke, cold (30 degrees) beer, baked potatoe with everything.
My answers to the questions:
1- death row? good but too long average of 18 years, conviction then death sentenced in 30 days max
2- last meal? bad <note: inmates being executed have a diaper put on. they lose control of bodily functions>
3- type of death? I am against torture and lethal injection drugs have been deemed cruel to put animals down so I don't like that one. The best execution is one that is quick and deters crime so I am in favor of public executions by decapitation or firing squad. Hanging is OK if done right. if the noose is set one way it chokes the person; set another way it snaps the neck.
My uncle spent 12 years on death row, only to be acquitted. So...
Execution: Bad.
Last meal: The least they can do, for whatever percentage are innocent.
Method: Up to the convicted. If you're going to kill someone, you don't get to be squeamish. Should be preformed by the sentencing Judge, IMO. Stark style.
My last meal would probably be steak, chili cheese fries, chocolate milk, bacon, and... 5000 year old scotch.
Execution is bad. Regardless of if there's a God or not, I don't think anyone should be given the power of ending someone's life against their will. Yes, you may think convicted murderers should die, they don't deserve to live. But what would be worse: Ending their life or subjecting them to a lifetime of "emptiness". What I mean by that is that they'd be in jail for the rest of their life, with no privileges and they basically do nothing all day except eat. They're eventually going to die, so if they deserve it, why not "punish" them a bit? If people were executed, what happens if they are later found to be innocent? You certainly can't un-execute them. But if they were in prison, you can easily release them. I'll definitely against execution.
Last meal: Sure, even if they are terrible people. They're still human and should be allowed to enjoy whatever time they have left.
Regarding the method... I think whatever is the least painful should be used. I don't really know which of those are the least painful. But I assume the firing squad, guillotine and lethal injection are the quickest and therefore cause less total pain. I don't like the idea of a firing squad though, maybe I've been watching too many movies. But I'm not exactly sure how it works in real life. If they just line you up and open fire, then I'm against that. A single bullet through the head would be much more humane. Guillotine is quick. But creates a lot of mess I assume, so I can see why that'd be a bad option. I think the lethal injection is probably the most practical way. So I think overall it's probably the best option.
I'm pro death penalty and I can see that not a lot of people would agree with but I also say if the person is in prison for murder they should go through the same pain as the victims of the person/people who were murdered. In all honesty it seems fair someone took a loved one(s) from you they should have loved ones taken away as well. (does seem harsh but also seems fair to me but that's my personal opinion)

Aren't you really punishing the convicted person's family then? What's your stance on those who are wrongfully convicted? Just curious.

Similar to what Mike said: Surely by executing the criminal you are also punishing the criminal's family? Yes, the criminal may deserve to die, but do their family really deserve to be put through that?
Better to let ten guilty people go free than to have one innocent person executed, imo.
I kinda agree. But what if those ten guilty people are serial killers and upon release they go kill many more people? That'll result in many innocent people killed. Whereas the innocent convict would be the only one to die. Yeah, ideally no one innocent should die, but that's not practical, so surely we should aim for the least amount of innocent people killed?
Anyone in the right mind would want a good last meal and choose lethal injection as their execution method.
The best way to die is to drift off the sleep and never wake up as opposed to pain.

My type of execution? Firing squad. I'm not a fan of lethal injection.

Wow, I had no idea it was that long. Completely agree with you there.
