We have a good internet provider and I asked my parents if we have dial-up because whenever we use the home phone the internet goes out, and I don't know what to do about this? Any advice?
Lol, sounds like DSL and the phone lines to the telephones/fax/answering machine does not have Filters on them. If they do not have filters, and someone picks up or someone even calls sometimes, it will knock the DSL out. The wall phone here, I had to put 3 filters cause 1 and 2 was not enough, pick it up, DSL went out, hang it up, DSL went out.
This might happen if you have ADSL and the modem is NOT connected to the FIRST phonejack.
Not true, I only have 1 phone line in jack, and like 7 phone line devices, PLUS modem connected to that shared jack, all works fine, max speed, no drops. They are in a series of filters, though the DSL modem is closest to the jack in the DSL dual slot filter.
