It all depends on the amount/randomness of numbers.

On the significance of numbers, the 11 in my name is part of X11. Which was a program that I used to run GIMP, which is what I used to use for image editing before I had photoshop.

So we should put underscores in front of our names instead?

The site that I made up the name "Road55" (ROBLOX), when I made my account, there was no plain "Road". Well, my first ROBLOX username was Road56, I forgot the password. So, yeah, mine is original.
I don't mind them, but I prefer not to use numbers in my usernames. The exception is my Spore username, which is Scorpio314, based on my favorite creature I made in the game (Admittedly not the best name) and 314, which is the first three digits of pi (minus the decimal point), one of my favorite numbers.
I haven't read much of the thread but here's my general opinion.
A username with a number is hated by mostly higher ups for one reason, the poster behind the name is usually not very... well versed. Makes a lot of bad posts if I may say, why? Because using a number is usually a sign of a newbie, someone who just joined his first forum and is expecting to have fun and such. Nothing wrong with that but usually the poster starts making bad content, or making really bad posts and derailing threads. Now this isn't always the case as there are posters with numbers who make good posts and such, but that's because they grew into a good posting habit, or they simply dropped the number from their name, which is my case. I don't want to assume everyone with numbers shitposts but I noticed a lot of them do. After being at about 6 forums for a while this is my general assumption.
Another note, this may also apply to people who use their real names on forums.
I dont like them because it shows the person is unoriginal because they couldn't get a name and if people do choose to put numbers in it,I don't know its ugly
I'm actually quite proud of my user. I find letters to be obnoxious. All I can think of is "How do they log in daily without having to retry thousands of times???"

Ghostland thinks that people who talk in the third person are even worse than numbers in a username and deserve to have Notch throw them into a burning pit of nether lava.

You could consider my nickname as same as those with numbers. I added an extra z to the end, since Jormaz was taken.
You just love calling people retarded, dont you?
No im just saying that if the person is going to comment negativley on me using a third person point of view when writing then the person probably should'nt either.
I, as well as all of my gamer friends, have always shared a mutual understanding that usernames with numbers, underscores, hyphens, or patterns of symmetrical prefixes and suffixes (e.g. "-:x:-NameHere-:x:-") are noob names. Oh, don't forget names like "shadowninjamaster". I don't know why, that's just the way I was raised.

OK, maybe that too harsh, but names with numbers do seem lazy and usually don't look and good as a name without them.
