There is no "after" that could be experienced after death. How could it be? "After" is only experienced by a living mind. The idea that there is something to experience after death is the idea that death doesn't exist.
It doesn't seem like death is an illusion. There are many dead things in the universe. If anything is an illusion, it is life. Coming to terms with that makes death seem less frightening and removes any motivation to deny it.
A small part of your brain still works after death and simulates your respective afterlife (just a theory).

Interesting theory, but without a beating heart, or constant glucose intake, your body would die. Not to mention the lack of nutrients or amino acids.
