In my personal opinion there's not much difference between the two, even obesity can harm others around you... your family for instance? How many times have you watch the biggest loser, and it's not just the dad or the mum who's obese, but the kids, the dog and the friends too? Being fat is just negligence taken to an extreme. there's no excuse. it should be a crime.
as for smoking, it's stupidity plain and simple. you may as well be playing russian roulette with an auto.
also for derpcakes up there, your name rings true. pot causes brain damage. I should know. it's how my father died.
Let's not make this about marijuana, thank you.

Your allowance may crawl,
It may fly or even vanish
But none will seem more lavished
Than time lost to all.
The smokers I know are weak people, and that is how I see all smokers.
They fell under the pressure of peer pressure, and thus, weaklings.
Every time my mom left a pack of cigarettes unattended, I throw it out the window. When I found out my younger sister is smoking, I blocked her internet, took her phone and changed the password on her computer.
As people stated before, it's possible for a person to be born fat or with a slow metabolism. A person isn't born a smoker, he gets convinced into it, which might also suggest he is somewhat of a retard to fall for it.

I think doing those things to your sister were a bit extreme. It is her choice, and her life. I'm not saying you should stay out of it, because you ARE her brother, but that wasn't very necessary. I would most likely just talk them out of it, or bring them to a doctor to show the effects smoking can have.
If their was an obese person, I would help them get back in shape, and stay healthy.

Oh, she knows the dangers of smoking, both of our parents smoke, my teacher from back in middle school died from a stage 4 lung cancer from smoking.
I had to punish her for smoking, and nothing would have done it better than completely remove her social life while she's at home.
The problem is that my parents knew - And approved of it. So I told them that if THEY won't act as parents, I will. And then I proceeded to tell both my parents to **** off.

Same here, man. Same here. Freakin' hate over-entitled fatties. At least smokers are alright with the fact that their addiction is killing them slowly...
Then you'd have no problem with me.
...okay, I'm not exactly so thin, but I'm not morbidly obese or anything. :/

That may not have been the best idea. In my opinion, I would have went to a kids help center, or to somebody you know well. This way, they can help the correct way, instead of doing it yourself.
I would think it's the other way around. How many people do you hear complaining or commenting about how fat someone is? It happens pretty often. What stops people from going up and saying something, is the fact that it's none of their business. A fat person isn't hurting anyone else.
Smokers are far worse. As a non smoker, I really notice how awful second hand smoke is. I've been sitting down, enjoying a meal, only for someone to light up a dirty smoke next to me. I think smokers should cater to others and at least move away from a crowd. There's a certain selfishness about smokers I think.
Next time you're out and about, check out how many butts have been stamped out on the foot path. It's pretty disgusting.
Obesity may be caused by uncontrollable medical conditions and is generally harmless, so you have no real reason to intrude into this person's lifestyle.
10% of obesity is due to a thyroid / hormone dysfunction. The rest is entirely laziness, and unwillingness to change their lifestyle, exercise, or eat properly. No effort, just a lot of sitting around and whining.
In the past, obese people would have been killed off by predators, but we tamed our environment, eliminating natural selection. Obesity is NOT generally harmless. Damage to the joints, hardening of the arteries, blockage of blood vessels, high blood pressure, aneurysms. List goes on and on.
People deserve to be held accountable for what they do.
I figure that it's socially unacceptable to ridicule fat people because they are the perfect consumers. Advertisers, specifically American ones, would never want to portray that being heavy is a bad thing, because then fast food companies would sell fewer hamburgers. (I know PSAs exist, but they aren't usually put out by the same people, and I find PSAs sneaky and dishonest when they are.) Because of this, we've learned that it's okay to be fat, so we don't make as much fun of fat people.
I've never heard that it's a not acceptable to approach someone obese about their problem. It's not morally correct as of right now, in our current society. Being fat is just like smoking about 20-30 years ago. (I'm not sure when it became "wrong"). It's just something that a lot of people have problems with, and it is accepted as of right now.
In 20 or so years it could be frowned upon to be fat, like smoking is right now. Obese kids already get made fun of enough, which would encourage me to loss weight. Some people just don't know when to stop eating, and others are cursed with slow metabolisms.
Though I love this comment, I disagree. Children and pets in obese families are much more likely to be obese themselves.
So, in a way, you can get second-hand fat.
More likely, but it's still sort of down to the individual to eat. With smoking you have to not breathe around the person and the damage cannot be undone later.
What kind of fat are we talking about here? Because there's fat, and then there's fat.
I am, in fact, a fat person. But I'm a fat person who can sit comfortably in an airplane seat without encroaching on the person next to me.

Weren't the levels: fluffy, huge, damn, and "Oh hell no!"?

Been brought up already but I felt my wording was particularly funny.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
You can get second-hand depression though, which is why I advise ostracizing fatties.
Like anime? Try Visual Novels.

You seem pretty phobic against fat people.
It's not like you can get obesity from looking at fat people.
Besides, give them a chance. They might actually want to turn their life around.

Sorry, I don't use the term 'fat people' because I don't personally believe they are 'people.' To each their own, though.

I really don't know how to answer to that.
Smokers, just no.
