Imagine this...
A grip/handle and coming out of it is a sword long blade made out of atoms, now of course this would break apart very easily but what if it was indestructible? What would happen if you slice people in half? Would it slice atoms apart even? I really think if you try to cut something it wouldn't fall off.
Well, matter is made of atoms, so we already have swords made of atoms.

if it sliced atoms it wouldn't be very useful as it would cause a nuclear reaction killing anything in the vicinity for several thousand years. BTW, we have quantum computers (made of atoms), and they need to be kept near absolute zero, so atom swords, nope.

Sorry I didn't explain it right. I meant if the blade was an atom thick.
Useless, there would be two results.
1: If it stayed together, it would do practically nothing.
2: If it didn't stay together, you've produced an atomic explosion. You're dead, and everything in a very large radius around you is dead. For a very, very long time.

PLUS you wouldn't be able to see it, so the only way you could know if it held together would be whether or not you're still alive.

...The weapon consisted of a blade of pure plasma emitted from the hilt and suspended in a force containment field. The field contained the immense heat of the plasma, protecting the wielder, and allowed the blade to keep its shape.
Actually, that still means I was wrong, because plasma is still a form of matter.

Edit: Kinda like a needle But an atom thick.
Lightsabers are swords of focused energy.
Completely different.

Then no, it would not be able to cut atoms. That would be like trying to slice a tennis ball in half with another tennis ball.
Sorry Lightsabers popped into my mind

Also it stays together.
Nothing would happen.
Then it would fail to cut anything.
*PHYSICS RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE*
Aren't they lasers that are in a loop?
From the Wookieepedia:
Actually, that still means I was wrong, because plasma is still a form of matter.
It would break upon a gust of breeze touching it.
I was under the impression that it was a plasma arc that went in a tight arc.
Though they use focusing crystals, so I have no idea.
