I never understood addiction. What is so hard about not doing whatever it is you are addicted to?
Consider yourself lucky. Not everyone is the same.
Many people have a more obsessive type of mind, and if they have some sort of inner pain or disability, when they find a substance or behavior that temporarily eases that discomfort, they lock on to it. It's tough to explain to folks who this doesn't happen to. Just trust me when I say it's not so easy to just stop an addiction. Once a neural pathway is heavily reenforced, it's difficult to break. Even if a chemical dependency is overcome, addicts still go back to their addiction months or years later because of the mental obsession. It's the only way they know how to cope with the stresses of life.
I have been addicted to many things, pot, alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine. I have managed to get off the pot & alcohol, but I still smoke cigarettes like a chimney and drink tons of caffeine.

And before anyone says you cannot be addicted to pot, you can. Anything that stimulates your nervous system can be addicting; which, is just about every smokable, drinkable, edible substance.

I live on a Planet Called Omicron Persei 8, where I am constantly battling sexual endeavors with the alien race that lives here.
I have a highly anti-addictive personality. I get tired of and eventually quit everything I try. I do fall into patterns, such as posting on this forum. I'm not addicted, but there's no point in quitting because I have nothing better to be doing.
Things I've gotten into and then gotten tired of:
Video Games
Anime
Various forums(This account is the latest incarnation of that trend)
Books
Music(Still listen to music, but I'm not nearly as enthusiastic as I once was and don't find new bands in my spare time)
Eating(I still do it to avoid the pain of hunger, but I'm damn sick of it)
Drinking
Smoking Weed
****, I need to go do something to get my mind off this now.
I played this MMORPG called Mabinogi for about 2 years, then my computer broke. That, however, gave me the realization that I've spent over $100 and 500 hours doing absolutely nothing useful.

Video games don't do anything, they are just fun :smile.gif:
Actually I hope he does try them, and get hooked so he can understand what it means to be addicted and stop acting like a smug troll all over OT.
I am not sure what is so trollish about the things I have said. If you have to go out of your way to sooth your addiction, it seems pretty logical that it's easy to stop going out of your way.
I've tried drugs, I've tried alcohol, and I have tried several highly addictive medications (including morphine). None inspired me to keep doing them to the point that I can be classified addicted (and actually, I don't do any of them because the one or two times I tried had no value that others seemed to peg onto it).
I feel as if I can stop whatever im doing when i want to, but i never have really been addicted to anything. The closet ive ever come is these here forums.

Of course it's logical. That doesn't mean it's possible for everyone.
Addictions aren't that simple.
I've played Runescape for ~5 years, but I don't feel like im addicted to it (I can stop just by clicking it out, my mind isn't set on it). I mostly ragequit because of dying in pvp :sad.gif:
Me too. Minus ponies. I don't really watch any tv.
Oh and as for an actual addiction I have: caffeine. I hate that stuff.
If you watch enough of mlp you'll become addicted to that stuff. It's like it swarms your mind and the only thing you can think of for awhile is ponies. You'll find yourself coming back to it at least everyday.
I am also addicted to caffeine. i love coffee, cappuccino, rockstar, volt, monster, redbull(sometimes),and something else i forgot.
Nope. It's your thing.

Alcohol. One point found myself drinking 5 nights week and getting irritable if i didn't. Only drink once per week now.
Currently addicted to computer games. Get irritable if i don't play enough.
Pretty addictive personality.
Apart from caffeine and alcohol, I've not touched any other drugs, so I'm happy for that.
Sweet sally in the ally
I WANT THIS SO BAD!

Steam: RobotDeathParty
Ahhh, get over it.... I was addicted to it for nearly 7 years, have nearly 100 days worth of time into it.
