Also for you people who think getting the FBI involved is overkill, the FBI is trying to prevent another wannabe KKK it may seem drastic but think about from their viewpoint. The best way to stop something is to not have it happen in the first place.

Federal Bureau of Investigation. May as well investigate something that could be potentially hazardous in the future, better than inaction yes? I think people Over-estimate what the FBI should or shouldn't involve itself with.
I actually live down the road from where this happened.
This Sam Mullet and his sons were breaking into houses, dragging these people outside by their hair, and then cutting it off.
Both men and women.
The reason why the FBI was involved was because the local police aren't really allowed to get involved, something about the pact we have signed with them that keeps them allowed to live the lifestyle they want to live, and the cops from pulling over their carts and buggies.
I have met a lot Amish people, and they are very kind folks who don't wish no harm no nobody. The Amish people that this happened to have expressed forgiveness to this man and his followers. As did the Amish people who had lost their children in the Amish school shooting a few years back. That was an outsider (people like us ) who went in, guns blazing into one of their single room school houses... and still, the Amish offered no hate.
This was disgusting that had happened to these men and women. Sam Mullet was already outed by the local Amish people for his outlandish views and dislike for his lifestyle (But really, no one was forcing him to stay Amish. He could leave at any time). That's the most Amish can do to someone who has harmed them.
I am for the FBI getting involved here. Like many people who have stuff happen to them that don't deserve it, at least it's being taken care of, and not swept under the rug.
Jesus thank you. About time someone came in here with sense and hard facts.
/thread.
That's not hard facts, that's a testimony. Still, it's better to have someone who actually witnessed what was going on rather than people who read a news article (that's not to say news articles can't have facts not available to the people in the area, but in this case the news article offered nothing the LadyRavenSkye could've).
Also, on the actual topic, I agree with Toast_burner. Why charge for hate crimes at all if they only "count" when someone's getting physically injured? Might as well just get rid of the charge in favor of assault charges. But even then it's still assault (consider what LadyRavenSkye said—the Amish were "dragging these people outside by their hair, and then cutting it off." If people weren't physically injured in something like that they very well could have and it's not a stretch to say Mullet might've wanted them hurt since he could've cut the hair right where they were at. And beyond all that, it's at the very least an attack on the Amish people's religion, which is most certainly not okay in America and most other places in the world.

All they did was forcefully cut Amish women's hair and Amish men's beards. No hurting the people. No threats. But they were hunted down by the FBI and charged with hate crimes. This is stupid. Your thoughts?
.... You think it's stupid? My thoughts? I think your opinion is pretty 'stupid' to be honest.
I'm not sure why you don't understand that forcing people to do something that is against their beliefs is a crime...
You thinking that it's stupid they are arrested for their crime is... just nonsense. On what grounds do you even think it is "stupid"?
I see you state some pretty extreme opinions like this in pretty much all the topics you post... usually directed at the government in some way.
Oh, what's that? The EU banned water bottle labels? - They so stupid!
Oh, what's that the US planned to bomb the moon? - They so stupid!
What's that, people are hatefully offending an entire people? - The cops is so stupid!
I get that you hate the government... but come on... grow up a little bit. At the very least learn to express your opinions in a better manner than simply calling things "stupid". You could at least explain why...
... And stop making so many topic... They usually last for an hour then die, and you make another one, then another. It gets annoying...
Well, those are my thoughts. You asked for them, I provided.

I was referring to the old saying "Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades."
You heard that, green and red.
Assault without the battery is still assault.
