I love when people say a paradox is unsolvable, as of right now the answer is right in front of us. Say you go back in time to kill your grandfather. you would think well, i wouldn't exist so how would i have been able to kill my grandfather? The answer is simple, you CANNOT change anything in the past that could destroy time itself.
Another thing i see alot is, well if i went into the past, changed the future, couldn't i go back to the past and stop myself from changing the future? Could i even have 12 copies of myself in the past, at the same time, all tackling each other? The answer to that is no, to prevent killing time itself, it is physically impossible to stop yourself from changing the future, as it is also impossible to hire someone to stop you from changing the future. A more in-depth explanation would be, say bob made a time machine. bob went back in time and killed Abraham Lincoln, this changed history so badly that time itself was unrepairable. no matter how hard he tried, he could not get back to that exact same time to tackle his past self, nor could anyone he hired.
Time is a measurement of repetition that was created by humans. My logic: You can't apply logic to an illogical situation.
Entirely true, in order to think with time, you have to stop thinking it as a line, and start thinking of it as purely a dimension that stops everything from happening at once.

Second one clever.
First one, whats stopping me from killing my grandfather? (Except of course the brain stopping me from doing something so dumb),
Third one, what if I had sex with a girl in the past and left her pregnant.
A. Is it possible to end up being my own grandpa? (a cookie to anyone who gets the reference)
B. and then back in the present I had sex with that girl's granddaughter, would it be really incest?
There's only one of you in the entire universe. Another realm there may be a different you. But if say I traveled back in time when i was a kid, i couldn't touch myself or disturb it in anyway. Or you won't be there as a kid anyway. What I'm getting at is, there is only ONE of you in the entire universe and time. However, if different realms exist then I will also exist there.
Also never read time travel books. You don't know who a good and bad guy is. Especially in Haddox's series "The Missing" series
Going back in time requires a strong nearby gravitational force, and light-speed travel.
If that is true, then wouldn't jumping into a black hole or "dead star" be the same as a strong gravitation force. However we lack the ability to do light speed, or as of NOW neutrinos speed.
I just think that if you changed the past, everything that ever will be after that would rewrite itself and, hopefully, not cause a massive change in the time that we refer to as the present.
Say I went back and stomped a beetle in 1958. I, along with everything from after the day in question, would then disappear from history. Then things would continue naturally from 1958 until what we know as present day. Hopefully, it wouldn't change anything at all. However, there's always a chance that something happens. For example, say that, in our timeline, the beetle caught a kids attention, lured him into the road, and got him hit by a truck. However, without the beetle killing the child, he could grow up to be a terrible dictator, thus drastically changing time.

The funny thing is, by the time you finish reading this, you will have wasted about four seconds of your life...
Actually, think of time as a river, the beginning starting at the first existence of time, the end when physics falls apart. Changing the past, or changing a place up river would result in a ripple that affects the rest of the river. Consequently, you can also make a dam of sorts in time, freezing the affects of a ripple, and stopping all motion out of that timestream.
Going back in time requires a strong nearby gravitational force, and light-speed travel.
And Light speed will be achievable in a couple million years. Science has confirmed that at one stage, light speed was infinite. It then sustained a substantial drop, and is now slowly decreasing. in some point in time, (In witch humans are most likely extinct) Light speed will be the speed of a snail in this modern day. And a nearby strong gravitational pull? The Earth! all we need to do is develop a slip-space drive for interstellar travel, then, if scientist think right, could develop a time travelling ship!
If I ignore the logic of my previous post, going back in time and "altering" the past would actually fulfill the events that caused the future to occur.
If I go back in time and bang my grandma, I'm not becoming my own grandpa. I always was my own grandpa. Hence past.
If you 'change' something in the past, it's already happened. Therefore the future is impossible to change, because all your 'alterations' have already been made.

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOI am glad i fried your brain.
TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOI believe the closest we'll get to time travel, short of confirming and harnessing tachyons, is suspended animation.
@OP: That's basically the multiverse theory, with time travel added.
Now that being said. Ponies.

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLike I said... Tachyons.
FTL travel is impossible without using a theoretical application of a theoretical particle, the tachyon.
