I'd like to address OT as a whole, and ask if there are any other Occupiers on the Minecraft forums.
For those who aren't very familar with the Occupy protests, they represent a growing movement across the globe, with 951 cities currently Occupied, most of which are in the United States. The movement began with Occupy Wall Street, but has by now, become so much more than that. I can't speak for every Occupier or protest, but at least in my town, our Occupiers are primarily opposed to the lopsided accruement of wealth within the country: The "Top 1%" of Americans possess 42% of their nation's financial wealth, with 93% of that money being possessed by the top 10%.
Enough banter. I'd like to open a line of commication with anyone on these forums who is an Occupier in their own town. My group is already reaching out to Occupy Los Angeles and Occupy San Francisco, and it would be awesome if I could reach out to anyone else through this medium. I know it may not be entirely sensible to expect other Occupiers to browse OT, but I thought I would at least try.
This is our livestream! Occupy Wall Street has referenced it, and Anonymous has donated to it.
I find ironic that they believe they are at the bottom of the wealth pyramid, they have teh internetz. Other than that I like their ideals, but I don't think that anything will happen. That's capitalism.

Nobody who can afford to Occupy in their free time, can beleve that they are at the bottom of the "wealth pyramid".
If they were, they would be spending the majority of their time working, to support their way of life.

Yes, but it's still somewhat hypocritical of them complaining about being cheated by wealthy people when they are fairly wealthy themselves.
I'm supportive to so-called occupiers. I think their goal, in general, is noble.
Sure, one could point out the inconsistencies in it, but after years of study, I can tell you that all noble goals are inconsistent. That doesn't mean much though.
I was at Occupy Albuquerque this weekend. It had about 200 people and many more during some times. The police followed us around and if you stepped off the sidewalk they arrested you for "Attempted Jaywalking". However no one got violent or did anything negative. They just fuel our message. We had many people going around the whole town passing out fliers and such. On the subject of protests:
Keep at it and realize that this is all about the media, so post this kind of stuff on facebook whenever you can. This is Democracy :biggrin.gif:.

Why haven't I thought of this before? Having an internet connection is an indicator of wealth! Now we'll simply categorize classes according to their internet speed or even whether they have an internet connection or not. A revolutionary change to the concept of the "have" and the "have nots"! Marx would have been so proud.
And this is why the United States will never achieve a revolution or mass workers' class consciousness. As I had quoted before:
“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires." - John Steinback
I'm enjoying the show. With the massive amount of protests occurring in so many cities around the world, I'm curious about what sort of response this will get in the end.
The original premise was alright. But now the entire thing has dissolved into a mess of random hippies making retarded demands. I support improving the economy and the way of life for everybody. I support removing some control from Wall Street. I support anything that's beneficial to society (society relating to people, not mechanics). However what some of the people are demanding would put America into twice as much debt with zero results.
Nothing is going to happen. This is a waste of time. A movement of independent groups protesting and demanding their own agendas will go nowhere except jail-time and fines.
The Occupy Wall Street Movement will die out quickly. It's easy to unite people against something for a short period of time, but without a really monumental force, people need some sort of goal to unite under, to be for something. Sure, everyone can say "boo Wall Street, you guys suck," but what exactly are they gonna do about it? It'll be short lived.
Yes, but it's still somewhat hypocritical of them complaining about being cheated by wealthy people when they are fairly wealthy themselves.
It's not about being cheated by the wealthy, it's about the fact that corporations are raising efficiency in ways that also raise unemployment through choking smaller businesses and employing fewer humans in favor of machines. Also, they pass laws and use loopholes to pay very little tax. If it continues, we will have a very defined caste system fairly soon.
To change this, we need to set the corporations back (temporary fix, and not very plausible), restrict certain methods of production, or move more toward socialism (a method that I think would have quite a few complications). No matter what, we need to revise certain laws to ensure that they pay a proper amount of taxes. Otherwise, we will have a very large unemployment rate and few funds to support the ones who simply cannot find any jobs.
If any senator wishes to read this, I suggest a SUSA bill. Stop United States Act. If the internet needs to babysit your lawmaking, Then there's something wrong.

It's been going for a month now, and spawned friends throughout the world. I don't see why they would all head home when they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves.
I'm supportive of the movement, in general. However, I'd like to see them have some sort of overarching message. It seems a bit silly to me to protest a corporation for making profit, and being efficient.
It's the government's responsibility to protect the citizenry from any sort of injustice. Time and time again we've been shown that Smith's "invisible hand" serves primarily to jerk off a corporation's metaphorical penis.

'Tis not contrary to reason to prefer the destruction of the whole world to the scratching of my finger.

A fair assessment, but the movement is picking up steam in any case.

I don't doubt that lots will join, I just don't see how anything will change.
I don't really observe a mindset of having been cheated as an individual. I don't feel that way, at least.
But I dont like anonymous
That was enough occupation for me though.

OT: No occupation anywhere near here, although nearby the Israelis are doing it wrong in Palestine.
