I'm 19 and my girlfriend is 17 and we've been happily together for years now, any argument you make regarding why you can only be in love with people that are the same age as you is invalid.
The only bad thing about having a girlfriend older/younger than you is if you want to graduate at the same time and not wait.

I don't see anything wrong with that. I've hit on/been hit on by people with a three year age difference. My parents have a three year age difference. Calm down.
To be honest, I never understood people dating younger people. If you can't get someone your own age, that's okay, I guess...but seriously? Dating younger people? I just don't get it.
Once I was waiting in a movie theater lobby for a taxi with my friend, and this 17 year old girl started flirting with me. Real weird since at the time I was 13 years old(Never knew why, but all my friends say that I look "way older than I actually am") and then once she realized how old I was, she looked rather embarrassed and walked away. Can't really blame her for not wanting to go out with someone 4 years younger than you though hahahaha...

Being interested in someone whose age is different from your own does not imply that you're unable to "get" someone your own age. Why so judgmental?

Well, it kind of does. Why would you go for someone younger than you other than your own age? It's just a curious thing. I don't understand why some people go for younger rather than same age.

Um because you like them more as a person, not because of their age?

Well, sure, but I'd rather go out with someone around my age. Maturity is a mental aspect, not a physical. People mature as they age, so I'd rather go out with someone around my age.

In order for someone to go for someone younger, the younger person must be going for someone older. Do you understand why a person would go for someone older? One component is physical attraction. Generally, girls tend to be more attracted to older guys and guys tend to be attracted to younger girls. Another component is maturity. If someone is more or less mature for their age, they might identify more with someone who is older or younger than them, respectively. Ultimately, the individual is what matters. If there's a mutual attraction between two people, it shouldn't matter if there's a slight age discrepancy. If they like each other for who they are, why should it matter if their ages are off by a few years?
I do understand your point of view though. In our sophomore year of high school my group of friends used to make fun of one of our own for dating a middle-schooler. They were two years apart. Four years later, they're engaged to be married. In middle school/high school, a couple of years seems like a big deal because you're separated by grades. But in college and the real world, age doesn't seem nearly as important.

Holy **** that changes everything!
No. Not really.

I agree completely. There's this one young chick (she's fairly younger than me) that I love. But people frown upon our relationship.
They think you can't love an eight year old for their mind, but she is truly brilliant.

I think it'd be more embarassing for you since not everyone would know what it means.
Same here.
